To hope they lose

bunnibearchi · 11/07/2018 08:29

Last Saturday my town centre was awash with ambulances frequently after they won that game. Quite frankly I do hope they lose as many of the fans are just wasting NHS resources and a slow Salk home would be far better than hours of celebrating drinking and all the violence that would ensue.

Other sports just don't get the same behaviour at all

Be proud to be British and support England

Why? 😂😂😂😂

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 11/07/2018 10:01

You’re not your, d’oh!

I’m also definitely not a cricket 🦗 but I’m not a big cricket 🏏 fan either. D’oh again!

thor86 · 11/07/2018 10:01

@seasawride

I think it’s such a shame to hear welsh, Scots not supporting England how sad.

I always think it's weird that English fans are remotely bothered by this. Scots and Welsh fans in my experience (which is in rugby to be fair) would hate to think English fans were supporting them. Its an English team, not a British one

bellinisurge · 11/07/2018 10:05

The UK uniquely (I think) plays as four separate nations. It's nice to root for each other but not obligatory. Stick a bit of history in the mix and it's understandable if it doesn't happen.

HesterShaw1 · 11/07/2018 10:06

1.Be proud to be British and support England

Remember the thread which asked why people hate/resent England?

It's there in that sentence.

But come on England. They seem like a nice bunch of lads and they have worked very hard. It's nice to have something to cheer about.

Twats will be twats and football seems to attract a disproportionate number of them. However that's not Southgate and his team's fault, not the people who just want to enjoy the moment without being idiots.

Seasawride · 11/07/2018 10:07

wouid hate to think English fans were supporting them

Well thankfully the welsh fans we watched the Euroes with on holiday were fantastic and my ds got engaged to one of the welsh girls he met in that wonderful holiday. Wink

I would hate to be so full of bile I feel sorry for you I really do.

bunnibearchi · 11/07/2018 10:07

Totally disagree it's going to be woorse if they win as people will carry on drinking, if they lose it will just be people going home.

Both ways are bad but one is way woorse!

If you think it's weird English fans are bothered about Scots/Welsh fans etc not supporting them, why is it not weird that Scots/Welsh fans would hateto think English fans are not supporting them? By your own logic, why should they care whether English fans support them or not? Or does it only work one way?

...English fans are supporting them...

Should probably proofread before posting...

SoyDora · 11/07/2018 10:17

DH is welsh and far more of a rugby man than a football one. He’s happy to support England in the World Cup though.

thor86 · 11/07/2018 10:17

@Seasawride

Where is the bile in saying an England team is representing England, Scotland team representing Scotland and Wales representing Wales? None of them are representing Britain.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 11/07/2018 10:18

Let's just ban football. Down with this sort of thing! Etc...
I hate football but thugs will be thugs, it's not really about the sport. I wouldn't wish defeat on a group of sportsmen because their fans are arseholes.

OliviaStabler · 11/07/2018 10:23

Ever heard of drowning your sorrows?

Mumto2two · 11/07/2018 10:23

What a miserable comment...as if the people who behave like this, don’t have any other excuse to behave badly. I was in London the night we won the last game, and the atmosphere was nothing but good natured and jubilant.
I am not remotely interested in football, and my OH is antipodean, but we are both rooting for England to win. As we would if it were any country in the British isles!
After all the political misery and national sadness of late, It’s about time we had something positive and unifying to celebrate. Not everyone who supports this is a violent thug, what a ridiculous petty thing to wish!

thor86 · 11/07/2018 10:24

Yeah it's probably more accurate to say they wouldn't care one way or the other, but they certainly wouldn't expect English fans to support them or complain when they didn't

WindsweptNotInteresting · 11/07/2018 10:30

GorgeousJaws · 11/07/2018 10:44

Come on England ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽

Incidentally, it was a Scottish woman filmed jumping on the ambulance. That incident was given as a reason the English are yobs in the "does everyone hate England" thread.

Mummyschnauzer · 11/07/2018 10:46

Op I’m with you! There seems to be this thought that to be English you must agree with life being put on hold to watch 22 grown men chasing a ball round a field. Yes it must be exciting if football is your thing, good for you. But people who don’t like it shouldn’t be harangued because they have the audacity to want life to carry on as normal. I quite like equestrianism. Should I demand to be let out of work early, criticise beavers for daring to keep running or slag off someone getting married without showing the world equestrian games on specially hired big screens. No! Maybe we shouldn’t go to my DSs best friend party because it clashes with the dressage when we might win. Or perhaps we could rearrange the works Christmas do so we can all watch Olympia cos some British rider looks like they’re in with a shout of winning the puissance!

stressedtiredbuthappy · 11/07/2018 10:48

They will be another game they'll play Saturday if they lose.
They'll be violence if they lose , much worse than if they win as a pp said dv spikes when they lose, appalling as that is.
However, not everyone is a mindless thug.
I'm looking forward to this I hope they win!⚽️🏆🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

SoyDora · 11/07/2018 10:51

Mummyschnauzer who is haranguing you? How odd! I’ve had 2 people say to me ‘are you watching the game tonight?’ but that’s as far as it goes. No one has expected me to put anything on hold.
DD1 has her swimming lesson this evening and that’s going ahead as usual (small group of 4 year olds).

bobstersmum · 11/07/2018 10:55

It's not the England team themselves that are getting pissed and wrecking your town op! So absolutely ridiculous to hope they lose because some drunken idiots lost the plot.

Seasawride · 11/07/2018 11:00

thor
Your comment was ‘most welsh and Scottish fans would hate to think England was supporting them?

I just think that’s odd and way strange but obv you are fully entitled to your feelings

thor86 · 11/07/2018 11:04

Still not seeing the bile

Seasawride · 11/07/2018 11:15

I think the use of the word hate conjures up bile but that’s my opinion and you are entitled to yours.

That’s aibu Flowers here have those from an English fan. Grin
