To think all children activities should be cancelled on Wednesday?!

I'm hoping so! They should cancel or at least rearrange Brownies/martial arts/gym/swimming, etc!

Either that or lots of parents having to nip out at half time!

It's a historic event, kids should be allowed to watch!

Historic?
This is the English hubris mentioned on the 'why do people hate England' thread in full and inglorious action.

Outfoxed · 09/07/2018 19:39

What a joke! Just don’t take your chicken to these optional activities.

Just pictured a chicken in a brownies sash and beret and can now die happy.

Timeisslippingaway · 09/07/2018 19:41

😂😂 stop being so ridiculous OP

listsandbudgets · 09/07/2018 19:41

It shows how little attention I pay to foktball that I didn't even know what yku were talking about until Red Glitter kindly enlightend me

DD will be going to choir
Her lovely volunteer teacher is taking timento be there and it would be wrong not to turn up just because of some over paid men kicking a ball about Confused

Waitingonasmiley42 · 09/07/2018 19:41

Blush oh dear

Children not chicken. Stupid fat fingers.

amgine · 09/07/2018 19:44

My kids Wednesday activities have been cancelled. Not because the leaders wanted to, because the local community centre we normally use are happy to kick out the normal groups so they can show the football and sell more beer (which the gets thrown all over the floor and not properly cleaned up).

JellySlice · 09/07/2018 19:44

Our dc's school has brought forward the start time of the school show to accommodate the match. Dh, who follows the football and is keenly interested, is disgusted.

This is a show with incredibly high production values, the culmination of 6 months of concerted efforts and a lot of sacrifices from children and staff, and the school is saying that watching some over-paid strangers 1000s of miles away is more important.

If it's that important to you, record and watch it when you get home!

And what about the parents who bought tickets for Wednesday's show, but now cannot attend because they'd have to take AL to get there so early, and it's far too late to apply?

twinkletoesimnot · 09/07/2018 19:45

YABU!
Our school.has its evening end of term performance - except now they are having it on thursday instead! Which means dh wont get to see it, as he had the time booked off especially.Angry

Quartz2208 · 09/07/2018 19:46

If parents decide its an historic event their children should watch fine they watch it and give up the money they paid for it

Those who run the activities should not cancel as that would leave them having to potentially pay back parents or make up the class

MurryFinge · 09/07/2018 19:47

Christ but you Poms are insufferable. What are you going to be like if you get into the final?

I8toys · 09/07/2018 19:48

Historic event - I've heard it all now! Its not the moon landing!

Flatpackjackie · 09/07/2018 19:48

Kick-off isn't until 7pm and it's hardly HISTORIC!

Runningbutnotscared · 09/07/2018 19:50

IS something happening on Wednesday?

I’m in Scotland and there doesn’t appear to be anything happening?
Grin

Fluffyrainbows · 09/07/2018 19:51

Hmm historic? I don't think any of mine would watch the football match. And as it's not on till 7pm I don't know of any children's activities on that late.
But if they win or score a goal the noise will be horrendous and keep them awake.

kaytee87 · 09/07/2018 19:51

Why Wednesday? Confused

marymoosmum · 09/07/2018 19:51

It's a football match, we are probably going to loose anyway. If they actually make it to the final, that will be more historic and important, surely your kids and there activities, which I guess mean something to them, are more important.

exLtEveDallas · 09/07/2018 19:52
Grin DDs sports club has been cancelled The High School has moved the new Year 7 open evening to Thursday. My school has bought the Year 6 performance forward an hour. DDs gym class has moved Wed training to Thurs and Fri.

I find it all amusing tbh.

specialsubject · 09/07/2018 19:52

record and watch later. turn off car radio and brickphone. easy.

BitchQueen90 · 09/07/2018 19:53

We don't do activities on a Wednesday but my 5yo DS isn't interested in the football.

I am though so I'll be right in front of the telly at 7pm.Grin

They've actually cancelled a lot of the Wednesday classes at the local gym as nobody has booked places!

SoyDora · 09/07/2018 19:54

Just don’t go Hmm

Willow2017 · 09/07/2018 19:58

Historic ? Get over yourself! Hardly, its a game of football not even a final ffs.

Leave the rest of us to get on with real life and you just keep your kids at home- -whether they give a jot about it or not-- wouldnt want to upset all those adults would we.

As if changing brownies etc pre -
booked days was easy to do!

And someone wondered why people all ovet gb were not all cheering on England!

CountFosco · 09/07/2018 19:58

What did you do when the Lionesses were in the semis in the last Women's World Cup? Did you suggest the Cubs or Scouts cancel? Did you think that was a historic event?

I'd be really pissed off if DDs Brownies was cancelled for a male sporting event but not for the equivalent female sporting event. Way to tell girls they aren't as important as boys.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 09/07/2018 19:58

I wouldn't have asked on here OP, anyone with even a passing interest in football is sneered at.

Personally if I had children I wouldn't be taking them anywhere on Wednesday night!

Yawn.
If you want to watch football, stay at home and watch it.
If you want your dcs to watch football, stay at home and let them watch football.

You don’t need someone else to take the decision for you and cancel activities so you don’t have to go.
