That's all, folks! Goodness only knows what happens now. But at least that Grade A twat is no longer representing us abroad.

I’d rather Boris than the shit show that Corbyn or worse still Abbott and co any day...

< shudders>

QuiteUnfitBit · 09/07/2018 15:37

And Boris knows he won't win this time. He's looking to the longer term - when the Brexit shambles is a distant memory... Except he'll be dead by then!

NewspaperTaxis · 09/07/2018 15:38

Interesting isn't it? I mean, the guy was a disaster as Foreign Secretary. Hiring him of all people was like the punchline to an episode of Yes, Prime Minister.

In some ways, May has done the legalistic, passive aggressive thing here. You wait for your opponent to make the first move, then react. Don't initiate anything.

That said, Mr Johnson is known for being incompetent - and that is the best insurance policy any minister can have. Witness Chris Grayling and even Esther McVey if her recent nonsense is to be believed. Why does this help? Because you can't be fired for incompetence in this day and age, you have to prove deliberate bad faith or wilful negligence. What's more, the public love you - because they can sneer and feel superior to someone in a position of power! That's a far better feeling than wising up to the fact that someone has been playing you for a fool all along.

I'm loving this strong and stable government

well some people never learn...

CaptainBrickbeard · 09/07/2018 15:43

This has to be the most chaotic government we have had in a long, long time. I agree with the posters asking where the hell the opposition is? Labour could make massive gains out of this disaster; why are they so ineffectual?? I honestly don’t see who we have to govern the country at all - how can anyone think leaving the EU and being solely at the mercy of these utter clowns is a desirable situation?!

HelenaDove · 09/07/2018 15:45

Agree with Taxis.

This has diverted attention from the Novichok poisoning

AlbertaSimmons · 09/07/2018 15:45

YouGov poll of Conservative membership says he can't beat any of the other contenders in a leadership contest, including J R-M and Ruth Davidson.

QuiteUnfitBit · 09/07/2018 15:46

If he thought he could beat anyone, I'm sure he wouldn't have resigned! I'm sure he doesn't want to be PM at the moment! Grin

dueanotherchange · 09/07/2018 15:48

Please don't say Jacob Rees-Mogg as that actually makes me feel ill, and consider emigration.

Terrifying. Especially as I'm an immigrant.

eyycarumba · 09/07/2018 15:49

On one hand I'm glad the bozo has gone -but him, Cameron and Davies NEED to be held accountable for the shit show they started with Brexit! They've all wussed out and (even though I really dislike her) I feel a bit sorry for T May, she's been a total scapegoat for these incompetent boobs. I bet Rees-Moggs is rubbing his grotty hands together with glee waiting for her to throw the towel in.

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/07/2018 15:50

Agreed. Cameron needs to come and “deal with this shit”.

tattyheadsmum · 09/07/2018 15:50

I think it's terrifying that we're living in an age where Jacob Rees Mogg is treated as anything other than a bad joke; the idea of him as PM is horrifying. Ditto Boris.

I wish someone had the courage to just say "Bollocks, the referendum was advisory only. So we're not chuffing doing it. As you were".

Noextremes2017 · 09/07/2018 15:50

Johnson can now put all his efforts into battling against the Heathrow extension that he was so opposed to - until he chose to forget that he was.

tattyheadsmum · 09/07/2018 15:51

And I feel sorry for Theresa May too.

QuiteUnfitBit · 09/07/2018 15:52

Me three!

I'd rather have someone with an ounce of empathy in charge than the rich lizards who currently are Hmm. Abbott is a bit of a bumbling idiot but her constituency constantly votes for her and seem to do well....to me that says more than her bad interviewing. Enjoy your privatised healthcare!

Noextremes2017 · 09/07/2018 15:53

Suggestion for new Foreign Secretary. Somebody that can weigh up the strenths and weaknesses of other countries and come out with a result - Gareth Southgate Smile

As a disabled person I share your fears. We're already treated like an underclass by the Tories, I'd say it can't get any worse but actually it could. JRM scares me to the point of tears.

Grandmaswagsbag · 09/07/2018 15:56

But if any of them dare to try and oust her it will be unforgivable. We’re a global laughing stock as it is. How could they care plunge us into yet more political instability when we’re trying to negotiate something as complex and difficult as leaving the EU?

MaMaMaMySharona · 09/07/2018 15:58

I wish someone had the courage to just say "Bollocks, the referendum was advisory only. So we're not chuffing doing it. As you were".

SAME. Except I don't think the EU would take us seriously even if this were to happen - I think we've gone too far already!

I'm still absolutely shocked they took such a minor majority vote as gospel and started proceedings to exit the EU as though it was the 'will of the people'! There should have been a minimum majority and it should have been at least more than 5%. It's insane that we've even got to this point.

HelenaDove · 09/07/2018 15:58

Meanwhile while all the attention is on this others are taking the oppurtunity to push other things through.

Shocking announcement by Westminster Council today: The lovely Ebury Bridge estate to be demolished with no ballot for residents.
Protest 6.30 this evening outside Westminster City Hall at 5 Strand Street WC2N 5HR (Trafalgar Square end) for Council Cabinet meeting at 7pm pls RT

DUP would love that shudders make their money well spent......

MoreProsecco · 09/07/2018 15:59

Both main political parties are a shambles just now. I'm just as scared by JRM & the Tory right, as I am by Jeremy Corbyn.

Where are the sensible politicians? Ruth Davidson is the only one I can think of.

NanaNoodleman · 09/07/2018 15:59

He’s going now to preserve what remains of his credibility so he can run for leafership later when Teresa has done all the heavy lifting.
He’s an A1 weapons grade cast iron cunt. He’ll get his
