That's all, folks! Goodness only knows what happens now. But at least that Grade A twat is no longer representing us abroad.

The (unpopular) reality for Labour is that to win an election they need to win over the votes of some traditional Conservative voters. The last election demonstrated that the youth vote made a dent, but ultimately, wasn't enough. Corbyn will not win the Tory voters over, ever.

Waiting for all the Tory voters to die off and a generation to come of voting age is a very long game.

Jayfee · 10/07/2018 18:43

So will it be Gareth Southgate for pm if we win the world cup!

Jayfee · 10/07/2018 18:46

Prime minister..Boris yeuk! Give.hell no! Reece Mogg..a joke. Corbyn oh god no! Who then? Maybe David Milliband??

How hard is it to understand that the net contribution sent to the Eu can be spent elsewhere when we stop sending it to them
Because
(a) in the big scheme of UK government income its a fraction of 1%
(b) its less than the cost of replacing the EU national NHS workers who are leaving because of Brexit

but hey, I'm only an accountant, what would I know Grin

Ta1kinPeace · 10/07/2018 19:00

and more importantly,

Trump screwing over NATO so that he can be shafted by Putin
is A BAD THING FOR THE WORLD

I do hope Liz and Phil tell him so over supper at the weekend

libbyb · 10/07/2018 19:14

I was in the car and I shrieked with laughter when I heard the news!! Go on then Boris - we're well rid of you. You are an absolute embarrasment! You look stupid, you sound stupid - you are a Hooray Henry - go and Hooray somewhere else!!
Theresa May was dealt a very difficult hand, she has a number of good people around her and she will (despite the BBC Journalists - ie vultures) deliver Brexit! Would you have voted for Trump? If you answer yes, then you would vote for Boris Johnson! :-(

I think it’s good he’s out as he’s a joke. However Jeremy *unt has done a great job of destroying the NHS costing us thousands of doctors, junior doctors and nurses as well abolishing the well needed bursary. Christ only knows what he will do with his new found power.

Sorry but it has to be said.... JC4PM

Teacher22 · 10/07/2018 19:34

Boris is a bit of a self server when it comes to politics and he clearly wants to be PM.

I know I am going to get burned for saying this but...

I have been reading Bj's journalistic and other pieces and listening to his speeches for years now and there is no doubt he is a clever, well read and brilliant writer. He has missed his vocation. He should have been a writer.

QuiteUnfitBit · 10/07/2018 19:41

He is a writer, journalist and columnist - has received a massive amount of money for this over the years.

QuiteUnfitBit · 10/07/2018 19:41

No doubt while also receiving an MP's salary...

Noextremes That isn't a description Max Hastings would use, judging by his article in The Times today. To quote:
"It was true that I employed Boris through years during which he showed himself a dazzlingly entertaining journalist. But the joke went tragically wrong when Theresa May put him in the cabinet."
He continues
"It is a common mistake to suppose Johnson a nice man. In reality he often behaves unpleasantly. "
And
"He is a man of remarkable gifts, flawed by an absence of conscience, principle or scruple."
Oh, and Max Hastings covers the bendy bananas as well!

babyno5 · 10/07/2018 19:56

Well if Boris makes PM then at least the Americans will be happy. Quite possibly the only world leader more lunatic than Trump!!

Ta1kinPeace · 10/07/2018 20:09

Well if Boris makes PM then at least the Americans will be happy
Those Americans who give a shit about British politics will not.

But as the bulk of TRump supporters care nothing about what happens beyond their own shores .....

even the Putin love in does not seem to worry them - which it SHOULD

Noextremes2017 · 10/07/2018 20:18

Oh believe me - I’d be with that Max Hastings analysis.

I think Max Hastings has nailed it.

It's well worth a read, as are some of the >500 comments. For once, very few seem to still be taken in by BJ. I'll quote this comment, which is one of the most popular.

"This article, a masterly summation of of the Bojovian character (or lack thereof) should help put paid to any remote chance that his chronic solipsism should ever again be rewarded by high office."
