That's all, folks! Goodness only knows what happens now. But at least that Grade A twat is no longer representing us abroad.

I'm also fed up with remainers trotting out the bus theory. I'm sure most people will have already decided whether they were going to vote in or out long before the bus materialised. A monetary sum on the side of a bus was hardly going to change the minds of people, whose priority was to remain.

Do remainers know that nobody voted to be in the EU in the first place?

chrisinthesun · 10/07/2018 11:54

EXACTLY THAT tatty! Smile ^

NanaNoodleman · 10/07/2018 12:29

I think there’s a good chance Johnson will end up the most despised public figure since Mosley
Better get those tv gigs in now eh Rachie, before the whole bloody lot of you are pariahs

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/07/2018 12:34

Chrisinthesun
You wrote a waspish post proclaiming the superior intelligence of leavers whilst insulting a significant proportion of the British population simply because they have a different opinion from you. It is a shame you cannot be gracious even in victory.

You also failed to comprehend my comment. I wasn’t discussing the £350m. Rather responding to your love of the spineless buffoon Boris Johnson, who swayed the leave vote.

As for the rest of your post. You do sound like such a jolly soul. Grin

thetemptationofchocolate · 10/07/2018 12:47

Problem is there is nobody within the Labour Party that can deliver what this country (or countries for the pedantic) needs.

I don't know a lot about him, but Keir Starmer seems like an intelligent person - maybe he would make a leader?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 10/07/2018 12:53

Of course you are, it is embarrassing for leavers. It wasn't effective Johnson and Gove wouldn't have spent so much time travelling around in it. Other effective tools included the breaking point poster and "turkey is joining" poster. Shame.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/07/2018 12:53

Don't worry about it .. if Labour ever get into power Abbott and Corbyn won't be there

I wish I shared your confidence about that Hmm

FWIW I'm no great admirer of the current batch of tories either, but the idea of those two in power is downright horrifying

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/07/2018 13:08

The issue with the bus debacle was that remain focused on it for far too long and then coming out with different figures it was a disaster created by Boris he knew what he was doing

Some may have believed it many it raised the question *so how much money are we actually paying?^ That answer is very complex as we saw with the responses - people didn’t want complex answers and long explanations

Noextremes2017 · 10/07/2018 13:11

Boris Johnson resigns as Foreign Secretary. Next day a former Foreign Secretary - Lord Carrington - dies.
The latter had some gravitas and was respected at a time when this country was a ‘world power’.
The former acheived nothing except confirm his ‘useless clown’ persona on a world stage in which we are now a ‘bit part’ player.
Quite sad really to reflect on the decline of the country and the people we entrust to run it!!!!

TattyTshirt · 10/07/2018 13:20

Ghosts you not think leavers would already have considered that the amount of money we have to pay to be a member of the EU would be better spent within the UK?

Do you not think the well being and financial aspects of the UK would be better served within the UK, with the UK government being the best to look after our people and finances?

Obviously you'd prefer some jumped up, self important little toad, who has no interest in the UK (apart from its money) to eke the UK's money out to all and sundry.

That's your choice. We don't all share your opinion. We don't have to. That's what makes us a democratic state.

Leave won. I wouldn't be at all surprised if BJ becomes popular with leave voters. Leave voted to get rid of the EU. They didn't vote to partly stay in the EU and have to pay for it.

Did it become apparent to you that by leaving the EU there would be money spare for the benefit of the UK after the bus spelled it out??

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 13:24

Barbarian

Think you have it. Most non Irish people cannot conceive that any one with any sense would allow the troubles to return within their community.

How bloody sad.

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 13:29

ghosto

What are shrills?

Childrenofthesun · 10/07/2018 13:34

Oh dear. It is not as simple as a money in/money out equation. The UK government has been happily paying into the EU budget for all this time because our membership of the EU increases our economic strength. Our GDP is bigger because of the benefits of being part of the single market. There are other reasons for our EU membership (greater political/security impact as part of a bloc, ability to share resources, eg across research etc) but the fundamental reason we've been part of the EU is because successive governments have known how beneficial it is to our economy.

The economy has already shrunk by an estimated 2% (worth approx £40bn) since the vote as our economic growth has shrunk from fastest in the EU/G7 to slowest and FDI has dropped. And this is while we are still part of the EU.

There is no "spare money" from Brexit because what we gain in fewer payments to the EU we lose in lower growth and investment.

There will be less money post Brexit because the country will be poorer. The governments own impact assessments state this.

Do you not think the well being and financial aspects of the UK would be better served within the UK, with the UK government being the best to look after our people and finances?

The UK can already do this. Sadly the last 30 years have been blighted by sell offs, privitisation and austerity. All bad for ordinary people

Obviously you'd prefer some jumped up, self important little toad, who has no interest in the UK (apart from its money) to eke the UK's money out to all and sundry.

Who are you talking about? Farage? Banks? Murdoch?

The bus slogan has been debunked. THE. COUNTRY. IS. GOING. TO. BE. POORER.

UneMoonit · 10/07/2018 13:40

Don’t try to preach to people of higher intelligence. It’s really unbecoming.

Yeah, this is the sort of thing that makes people look like they think they should get ten votes for every icky pleb that gets one.

My experience is similar to that of another poster, by the way - I had many conversations about the EU before the vote and the only people that could explain its structure, its legislative processes and the advantages AND disadvantages were eurosceptics. From remainers I got slogans, bogeyman rhetoric, political analysis at the level of an SWP poster but embarrassed laughter on the specifics.

Anecdotal of course. Just saying.

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 13:44

Ghosto what are shrills

Please explain

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/07/2018 13:53

UneMoonit
You’re missing the point. It was in response to a poster, who said they and every single leave voter are the more intelligent / clued up than a significant proportion of people, who voted remain.

My comment you quoted when read in context was stating the exact opposite to believing I should “get 10 votes for every icky pleb”.

Your comments are as you say anecdotal. That poster I responded to claimed superior knowledge of all leave voters as fact. As a result, I called them unintelligent. Cos that’s what a person is when they claim to be oh so superior. We are all humans and we are all equal. HTH.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 10/07/2018 14:16

Bring it on Bozza I say.

Let's have a new true Brexit Tory leader and then a general election.

Sort this thing out for definite.

Let the people chose in a general election whether they want whatever waffley thing it is the labour party are offering on Brexit or an actual Brexit, like what people thought they were voting for, or just to scrap the whole thing and pretend there never was a referendum, or there was but people are too stupid,, like Vince wants.

Then we don't need another referendum, cards on the table at a general election.

I reckon a general election between JRM, Jezza, and Vince wound sort this out.

Go on Bojo, or someone, challenge TM, let's get this sorted.

KateGrey · 10/07/2018 14:42

This country is going to the dogs! Everyone is scrambling around and no one has a clue what they’re doing. The tories seem like a bunch of half wits waving their Oxford degrees and looking out for themselves and Labour, well what a poor excuse for a leader. None of it is good, it’s all really bad. We should be able to trust that our government are their to serve the people in the best way possible but seems they’re all a bunch of self serving useless cunts. And that’s being generous.

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 14:52

Agree Kate I do however think TM is at least genuine unlike all the men around her age opposite her. I include Abbott there too.

Baby

The public won’t stomach a other GE

Funny.
I found the absolute and utter opposite.

Brexiters who did not know or care how cross border supply chains worked
Brexiters who did not care that unemployment is low because there are not enough native born brits to do the jobs
Brexiters who claimed that immigrants were on the dole while stealing jobs
Brexiters who think that the USA and India and China will give the UK free trade with no strings attached
