That's all, folks! Goodness only knows what happens now. But at least that Grade A twat is no longer representing us abroad.

What was the point of voting for Brexit, if it's just like staying in the EU, but with no say? Why not just Remain, and get a veto in EU legislation

Well yes, of course. But this was what Norway did, they had a similarly close vote (in their case not to join) and rather than taking the "winner takes all" approach and distancing themselves from the EU, they didn't join, but they became as close as they could. It's not something that pleases the extreme joiners or isolationists but it is a good reflection of the result. And ours should be similar.

I would prefer to remain in the EU, but remaining in the EEA would be a compromise. Even just staying in the customs union would be acceptable (and I think is essential for Ireland and Gibraltar). But leaving everything altogether and cutting us off from opportunities in Europe is ludicrous and not a reflection of the vote.

chrisinthesun · 10/07/2018 10:36

Don't get excited OP.

He will be Prime Minister soon.

Go BOZZA!

Like it or not, Labour are never going to win the Election with Corbyn as their leader, and that muppet of a sidekick of his - Diane Abbott.

Labour are a car crash, and have been for a couple of years now. Their supporters have left them in droves, and gone towards the Tories, or UKIP.

The only Labour supporters now are Champagne Socialists, and millennials who have not yet experienced being shit on from a great height by government for many years, whilst being kept down on low pay, with high house prices, very little opportunity for progression, and the rich fat cats creaming off huge profits for themselves, robbing pension plans, and making 100's of 1000's of people jobless whilst they tootle off into the sunset with a 6 million pound payoff.

Corbyn can pretend he is one of the working classes, but he isn't, and he will fuck up this country royally if he gets to be PM.

People need to stop pretending almost 17 and a half million people voting to leave the EU is a 'minority' vote too. Are these the same airheads who think 30 million watching the world cup 'doesn't mean it's popular?'

Out of all the people who VOTED for Brexit, the LEAVE vote got the highest amount, and it was 17,410,742 million. REMAIN got 16,141,241 million. LEAVE won. If REMAIN had won, none off you moaning nancies would be demanding another referendum or saying it's not the will of the people. Just get over it FFS! Hmm

The other (roughly) third of the country could not be arsed to vote, so they are irrelevant. And their opinion means fuck-all.

I bet a fucking herd of camels that many of the people whinging and moaning didn't even vote!

What's even worse is that I have spoken to some people who voted remain, and when I quizzed them about the EU, they didn't even know what it was! One woman (aged 20,) thought it was something to do with FOOTBALL. Another man (aged 33,) thought it was the United Nations. Confused

Many people who voted to remain did not know what they were voting for. EVERYone who voted to leave DID know. If there were another referendum (and there won't be) I am willing to bet that LEAVE would still win, but the vote would be higher.

QuiteUnfitBit · 10/07/2018 10:42

It's not something that pleases the extreme joiners or isolationists but it is a good reflection of the result.
Yes, that is what I feel, as a remainer. It's a compromise. But there are so many vociferous people who don't seem to recognise the need for compromise.

And what with Ghost's posts, and the post by chrisinthesun I despair of the polarisation around at the moment.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/07/2018 10:44

chrisinthesun

EVERYone who voted to leave DID know.. Okaaaaay. If you say soooooo.

Great swathes of people voted leave for no other reason than they saw Boris in a shiny bus. The most searched phrase directly after the result was “what is the EU”. Don’t try to preach to people of higher intelligence. It’s really unbecoming. Confused

TattyTshirt · 10/07/2018 10:46

Noboody is saying TM is a wonderful leader or her party have never cocked up.

Everyone is weighing up the state this country will soon be in.

The Tories have more or less disbanded.

Nobody in their right mind is going to vote Labour whilst Corbyn and Abbott are running the show.

What do you think is the solution? Bearing in mind there is no magic money tree...

TM has been dumped with the headache of Brexit. She's a remainer who is trying to negotiate the best deal for her country. The brexiteers are not happy because the brexit planned is too soft. The remainers are never going to be happy as they obviously want to remain so no matter what TM does they are not going to agree. I suspect Boris has thrown his toys out of the pram because he will settle for nothing other than a hard brexit. TM is never going to get this right for everyone. What makes you think Corbyn will?

Diane Abbott has not been given the opportunity to spectacularly fuck up yet. Let's hope she is never in a position where her bumbling, foolish, racist views and actions will have dire consequences for millions of people.

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 10:46

Ghosto

Do you just do sound bites? For someone who seems to loathe Tony Blaire you copy his style.

Can you not debate or answer any questions? What are shrills?

borntobequiet · 10/07/2018 10:48

I seriously question the competence of any party who stubbornly kept Diane Abbott in post.
The majority do NOT want her anywhere near Parliament. Shes a racist hypocrite.

She increased her majority in the last election, gaining 75% of the vote.

BarbarianMum · 10/07/2018 10:52

So if they knew then why the clusterfuck now?

chrisinthesun · 10/07/2018 10:52

Yeah yeah, you just keep on convincing yourself that I am talking shit, and I am probably thick and racist, and read the Daily Mail, and you remainers know EVERYTHING.

If it makes you feel better. Smile

FGS though, please do quit coming out with that old chestnut about the fucking BUS slogan. Most people who voted to leave the bossy, controlling, manipulative, money-grabbing EU voted for many many different, (and valid) reasons. And the promise to fund the NHS was not one of the MAIN reasons for leaving. If that had never happened (the bus slogan saga,) everyone who voted to leave would still have voted to leave...

You're fucking deluded if you think THAT was the only reason. There were at LEAST a dozen more. There are waaaaay more reasons to leave than there are to stay. The LEAVERS are not as dumb and thick as you whinging remoaners like to make out. (As I said though, I do know plenty of people who voted to remain who didn't even know what the EU WAS when they voted to remain PMSL!)

Anyway, we are leaving. So get over it. You're all sounding pathetic now.

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 10:53

born

That just goes to prove that a donkey with a labour rosette can win her constituency.

She was so shocking during the election campaign the two Js had her silenced.

A good constituency MP she may be, front bench material not in a million years

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 10:56

Chrisinthesun

Out of my 6 grown up kids 2 voted leave as did my dh and parents.

Neither of those people are in the least thick.

Honestly I tend to treat with contempt those who call leavers thick just as much as I dislike the term remoaner.

People are fully entitled to different opinions.

borntobequiet · 10/07/2018 11:02

Oh dear

TattyTshirt · 10/07/2018 11:04

Corbyn can pretend he is one of the working classes, but he isn't, and he will fuck up this country royally if he gets to be PM.

Chris I agree with everything you said. Especially this ^^

Labour supporters seem to think that because JC is a member of the Labour party and looks like he could do with a good scrub that he is working class 🙄

Do the remainers know JC was a Staunch Eurosceptic until he thought he'd have more chance of becoming PM if he advocated to remain. Fucking turncoat! He can't be true to himself. He's not going to be true to anyone else.

He even duped the students into voting for him. All with false promises. PM material he is not!

Problem is there is nobody within the Labour Party that can deliver what this country (or countries for the pedantic) needs.

Childrenofthesun · 10/07/2018 11:05

Most people who voted to leave the bossy, controlling, manipulative, money-grabbing EU voted for many many different, (and valid) reasons

Which is the very reason Brexit cannot be a success. Nobody voted for the same thing. Any arrangement will only please a proportion of those who voted leave (and will probably not please any of the people who voted to remain). Many of the things people voted for were unachievable (eg we can't have different customs arrangements because that would require a border with Ireland).

The current proposal is a pile of pants that will leave us marginalised on the periphery of the EU rather than in the position of influence we hold now and will probably be rejected anyway as it breaks the treaty terms of the EU, but at least they have tried to come up with some workable elements.

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 11:08

Tatty

Maybe Yvette cooper?

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 11:09

And you can’t deny she is a racist hypocrite! She’s had to apologise for both in the past.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 10/07/2018 11:11

Sound bites? The entire Brexit “argument” was built on this.

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 11:13

Ghosto

Agree so don’t copy them! What are shrills?

chrisinthesun · 10/07/2018 11:22

@TatttTShirt

Do the remainers know JC was a Staunch Eurosceptic until he thought he'd have more chance of becoming PM if he advocated to remain. Fucking turncoat! He can't be true to himself. He's not going to be true to anyone else.

YES that is true. Jeremy Corbyn was VERY anti EU for many, many years.... Yet he is suddenly all for it, because he knows it will get him more fangirls. I can't believe they cannot see through this man. He is a fraud and a turncoat who will say ANYthing to get voted in. And then God help us all if he gets in. He will bankrupt the country. HE will be OK though (and his minions including Diane Abbott!)

@seasawride

Yeah I know what you mean. Many of the most intelligent, well-travelled, well educated, hard-working people I know voted to LEAVE the EU. Saying people who voted to leave are thick and badly educated and bigoted and racist yada yada, is just laughable. The more they say it, the more ridiculous they're sounding. I'm embarrassed for them!!!

chrisinthesun · 10/07/2018 11:23

Should have been to @TattyTshirt (Not tattt!)

BarbarianMum · 10/07/2018 11:27

So what was their solution for the Irish border problem? Or were they just planning on tearing up the Good Friday agreement and returning to civil war?

chrisinthesun · 10/07/2018 11:36

So what was their solution for the Irish border problem? Or were they just planning on tearing up the Good Friday agreement and returning to civil war?

Yeah that's it, that was their plan.

Christ on a fucking bike.

20nil · 10/07/2018 11:37

So what was their plan?

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 11:43

Well to be honest I think most people don’t assume that the Irish population would immediately rush to kill each other as soon as a border was erected.

I Guess most people would assume that the troubles were a thing of the past and if not why bloody not??

BarbarianMum · 10/07/2018 11:47

So you think if the UK renaged on the Good Friday agreement the nationalists in Ireland would all shrug their shoulders and life would continue as normal? You must have an even shakier grip of the Peace Process than mine.
