Hairless foofs

Ginismyfriendx · 06/07/2018 01:02

So can't sleep and watching naked attraction (please do judge me, I deserve it)
Are completely bare foofs a thing now? Having had a nasty experience of an ingrown hair from shaving bikini line (which required anti-biotics) why go through that? Nevermind the faff. Who want's an evening shadow on their lady bits?
All for a bit of pruning, but uprooting?

Shaving hairs causes them to become cut on an angle and this 'sharper' - and that can lead to ingrown hairs.

Plucking them (painful) or waxing (same thing but in one go) is the way to go unless you resort to laser, or chemicals (nasty).

It's totally correct to say we all have bodily autonomy, but it's also fair to say that we are often influenced by societal norms and our perception of what others think.
Some of what we believe to be 'our' choice can still be a result of subliminal influence.

For the record, very few women born before 1960 remove pubic hair. (Some will and they will come along to say so.)

So what's changed? Porn. Access to porn. Lad's perceptions of what women should be like. Beauty industry jumping on band wagon- I remember when a modest bikini wax round the edges was considered racy.

In the 60s, 70s and 80s, Playboy and lads mags had centre folds (no pun , darlings) with women's full bushes on display. THAT was the norm then.

You may think you are making a personal choice but someone or something has put the idea into your head that your pubes are unclean, sweaty, not nice. It's so sad.

It categorically isn’t sad for me that I discovered by accident it made my periods - which are absolutely hellish- just a little pleasanter to deal with.

How does using a tampon or a pad make any difference if there is hair there?.

I cannot see how removing all your pubes right up and under makes any difference to a period even using all my imagination. A light trim of any hairs that are getting bloody/ tangled should be enough, no?

JacquesHammer · 08/07/2018 13:50

I have horrifically heavy periods that I don’t meet the criteria for treatment. I regularly flood. It is so much easier to get cleaned up, rather than require a shower each time.

As I said up the thread I didn’t remove, I lost all my hair due to illness. And THEN discovered the difference it made. And yes, it made a massive difference that trimming never did.

Jb291 · 08/07/2018 13:57

This is entirely down to personal choice and I don't judge anyone else for their choices bcause that is none of my business. I prefer bare legs / underarms and no pubic hair because it feels easier to keep clean especially as I have horrendously heavy periods.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/07/2018 13:57

And dare I say it mn? I'm only 40 and discovered on MN that ordinary women often remove their public hair these days. I honestly had no idea at all and still wouldn't. So is MN actually adding to it?

It's the pressure thing that worries me, that undoubtedly my dds will have in the future. The difference for me is pubes aren't on show except during sex. Armpits and legs are - I don't usually bother to shave my legs either in the winter.

TornFromTheInside · 08/07/2018 14:10

It's more than porn, but I think porn was a key factor.
Changing rooms, peer pressure, advertising - they all collude to give an impression that a modern woman should be thin, trimmed or no pubic hair.
Suddenly men with body hair are 'eeeew' now. That's changed too. Huge swathes of women (and men) haven't changed taste of their own accord, they've been steered.

If you ask 100 people do they buy products because they've been influenced by adverts, 95% will say no, and yet we know damn well they have. We just don't ever like to believe WE are part of that 95% who have our minds changed like that.

Jacques is an unusual case, so it's hard to discuss about specific people, but as a 'whole' it's clear that a trend has happened in the last 30 years.

bananafish81 · 08/07/2018 14:12

@Verbena87 thanks so much - my days of dildocam are over now, as sadly our treatment was unsuccessful and Drs on both sides of the Atlantic confirmed we have exhausted all our options. I hope your treatment was successful (wet wipes and all!)

melodybirds · 08/07/2018 14:19

Some men shave all of their pubes too. Confused

BertrandRussell · 08/07/2018 14:25

When men start worrying about going for prostate exams because they have pubic hair....then come and talk to me about "men do it too"

SoddingUnicorns · 08/07/2018 14:27

My partner’s preference is the most important factor in my decision to get a full manscape. Are you telling me that’s not ok for me to base my decision on her opinions either?

That’s exactly what I’m saying. It’s a bit off to tell your partner (male or female) what to do with their body.

BertrandRussell · 08/07/2018 14:29

And I am pretty sure that men are not going to go on about hygiene, sweat and cleanliness......

Joey7t8 · 08/07/2018 14:40

And I am pretty sure that men are not going to go on about hygiene, sweat and cleanliness

Appologies if this is TMI, but that is exactly the reason I get my bum crack waxed. The difference in the feeling of cleanliness after a sweaty run or gym session (even after a shower) is significant.

The removal of my pubic hair at the same time is mostly down to the preference of my partner.

Joey7t8 · 08/07/2018 14:41

That’s exactly what I’m saying. It’s a bit off to tell your partner (male or female) what to do with their body.

She doesn’t tell me; she expresses a preference. This preference influences my decision significantly, coz we actually like pleasing each other.

Mummadeeze · 08/07/2018 14:42

I do it because my pubes have turned white and my hair on my head has not, and I am really not that old!!! That is my only motivation - nothing to do with porn, partner, sensation or anything other than feeling horrified at having white pubes!

Proudlyindependent · 08/07/2018 15:11

Hmm, I kind of keep my valleys very well mown down. Thoughts of my boo fighting through dense hairy vegetation is not throb pube pleasing or sexy to me (personal opinion)

SoddingUnicorns · 08/07/2018 15:13

She doesn’t tell me; she expresses a preference

See my preference is for my DP to make his own choices and be comfortable in himself, he says the same.

And yes, way TMI.

Bluesmartiesarebest · 08/07/2018 15:22

I’m over 50 and I don’t shave my foof. It’s a bit like looking at Brian May in my pants. When I trim it a bit I look like Paul Hollywood at a certain angle Smile

bellinisurge · 08/07/2018 15:26

I thought on these threads you weren't allowed to say it's a porn thing or a weird wish to look prepubescent. There's usually a torrent of people saying that such thoughts are ridiculous. Must depend on the day/weather.

tabulahrasa · 08/07/2018 15:39

So if you’re sure you’re not influenced by anything to remove your pubic hair...

If no-one else did it, if it wasn’t something you were aware of, are you sure you’d still do it? If it was unusual enough that partners would never have seen a bare one, or medical professionals?...

You’d be the first person to go, oh, I don’t like this, I’m going to remove it.

BartholinsSister · 08/07/2018 15:51

Didn't Marylin Monroe famously claim to be hairless from the neck down?

Birdsgottafly · 08/07/2018 16:13

""Didn't Marylin Monroe famously claim to be hairless from the neck down?""

Yes, she also kept out of the sun, because she wanted "to feel blonde all over".

Birdsgottafly · 08/07/2018 16:17

bellinisurge It's probably the heat. I've given up saying that. I certainly, at 51, look prepubescent, neither do the men that i know that shave their face.

Pubic hair removal has always been popular in times of Female sexual liberation, it stopped in the UK when Queen Victoria spoke out against it and Women enjoying sex.

In the times of Roman orgies, Women and Men removed hair. But there's no point in quoting historical facts to the porn obsessed.

Verbena87 · 08/07/2018 16:21

@bananafish81 sorry to hear that. It’s such a blooming draining process - hope you’ve found happiness in a dildocam-free environment Flowers.

We were very lucky and treatment was successful for us. I don’t think it was the wet wipes though.
