I cringe when I see someone wear one. Do you?

Ohyesiam · 05/07/2018 23:13

I’ve never seen one. What do they say?

Echobelly · 05/07/2018 23:14

Depends what it is - funny self deprecating joke, OK. 'I'm the mummy of a little princess' or something bleaurgh!

Fatted · 05/07/2018 23:16

It's not my cup of tea. The annoying little people that follow me around all day generally advertise my status as a mother.

But I wouldn't notice probably if anyone else had one! No worse than mugs that say world's greatest nan or similar.

abitoflight · 05/07/2018 23:18

Yup ghastly

Tiredtomybones · 05/07/2018 23:18

Each to their own.

CocoDeMoll · 05/07/2018 23:19

I’ve got a breastfeeding top that says Mutha in gold letters. Is that the sort of thing you meant?!

FallArmyWorm · 05/07/2018 23:19

But I wouldn't notice probably if anyone else had one! No worse than mugs that say world's greatest nan or similar.

I suppose the 'announcement' on something you wear is so much louder than it is on a mug.... It feels more like you're trumpeting something if you're wearing it.

Do you mean the naff ones ala 'mummy to a princess' or the trendy Mother etc expensive middle class ones?. Actually I hate them all, what am I saying

FallArmyWorm · 05/07/2018 23:21

@CocoDeMoll yes, that kind of thing. There are some quite 'fashionable' tops out there now which bear the 'mother'/mum/muvva slogan in some way. As in, they're quite tasteful (and expensive), and nicely designed. But I still cringe.

primary school sports day

Super Mum
Super Dad
Super Kid

ILoveDolly · 05/07/2018 23:21

At least the spelling Mutha hints at some kid unfriendly language which readers it humour

CocoDeMoll · 05/07/2018 23:22

Then I’m guilty Grin

FallArmyWorm · 05/07/2018 23:22

@ILoveDolly cross post with my last one...I had the nice, expensive ones in mind. I took it as read that the tacky ones are ghastly and universally acknowledged as such!

OP posts:
Coffeeisnecessary · 05/07/2018 23:23

I quite like the winging it one, and hurrah for gin, but can't quite bring myself to buy one as it does seem a bit embarrassing!

FallArmyWorm · 05/07/2018 23:23

it's ok @ILoveDolly....there are support groups you can attend which I'm sure will help wean you off such things!

ILoveDolly · 05/07/2018 23:24

I will accept MUTHA as long as you acknowledge that it is swearing and therefore funny. All the others can go in the bin INCLUDING the ones that say Human

CocoDeMoll · 05/07/2018 23:28

Swearing is the only reason I bought it!! And that it zips down the side. all the BF friendly tips look like they should be worn by someone far classier than myself Grin

FallArmyWorm · 05/07/2018 23:28

I cringe also because I think it can be so easy to lose one's identity a bit as a mother. And you have to fight to retain your identity. Why do an 'own goal' (as I see it) and wear something that so clearly promotes to others your status as mother over and above your identity as a woman/friend/lover etc or just person in her own right!

OP posts:
FallArmyWorm · 05/07/2018 23:29

@ILoveDolly yes, I do agree with you on that actually! I like the pun.

OP posts:
FallArmyWorm · 05/07/2018 23:30

@ILoveDolly sorry, got you mixed up in an earlier post with Coco.

OP posts:
Raver84 · 05/07/2018 23:31

They all shit and look hiddious.

Raver84 · 05/07/2018 23:32

And I totally agree with the own goal.

ClangerTwanger · 05/07/2018 23:34

Never seen a mother one.. but I’ve seen ‘wifey’ tops on eBay. I’m not a fan of that shite. 😂

AuntieStella · 05/07/2018 23:34

Any thought on Run Mummy Run?

FishFingerInjury · 05/07/2018 23:40

Do you mean the Selfish Mother brand ones that raise money for charity?
