It's not coming home. Who ever said England is home? It makes us look idiotic to the rest of the world. Someone on the radio said they really believe England is going to win this year. The rest of the world must be pissing themselves looking at England cheering over such a mediocre team and having such delusions of grandeur.

It also seems to make people behave like hooligans. I've seen some crazy driving before the matches start, and people were making noise until the early hours last night.

It's just a game! We never get this excited about the olympics, Wimbledon or even Rugby.

This is why patriotism is so shit in England. Ans only in Engkand, the Welsh and Scots proudly follow alot more traditions and their sporting teams.
As soon as anyone gets passionate about anything in Engkand the miserable brigade moans and cringes. It's so very British ironically!
I'm not a football fan at all but a few weeks of being people around me being positive about something once every few years is uplifting!

Yes you will always get a few years that go too far etc but I try to ignore them and enjoy some of the optimism and something else's on the TV than the doom and gloom of Brexit, politics and terrorism!

Normally you show some pride and youre considered a UKIP/ britain first type. a tournament starts where 20m+ are excited and you still cant be excited and support the country.

The mood and attitude of people in my neighbourhood wasn’t just patriotic but quite hostile with rather nasty xenophobic overtures. Loads of drunks were staggering around in the street, kicking stuff and being very aggressive. Many of those were affluent, middle-class men not the stereotypical ‘football yobs’ so often portrayed in the media. I hope the English team gets knocked out in their next game. There is something very deeply unpleasant about many English people when it comes to international football tournaments. My biggest relief is that my DH isn't interested in football at all.

I totally agree, it is pathetic, and makes people look sad and desperate. It is not home, it is not coming home, there is still the quarter finals, then semi finals. England have not performed very well in the last two matches, they need to get their overpaid arses into gear, and earn that money, if they are going to ever bring it home since 1966.

I agree there are a minority of yobs. In the main I've found 'many' English people are extremely pleasant at international football tournaments. Maybe it's the circles you mix in?

TBF I was expecting a lot of trouble with the tournament being held in Russia - I've been pleasantly surprised that it hasn't been that way (well apart from on the pitch where England seem to have to have to fight against 12 men refs not 11

There's a women's world cup and the men's world cup which is more commonly known as the world cup.

He reason it's called the women's world cup is because we can't have 2 world cups can we.
We can't say the world cup is in 2018 and the world cup is in 2019 but there's 4 years difference between the world cup so that wouldn't make sense?
