Why is the story of this poor girl so far down all the news websites?

Flowers, ParkheadParadise. How awful for you all.

TheGlaikitRambler · 04/07/2018 16:41

A car was removed from outside the home, but haven't read anything about a cat.

DearMrDilkington · 04/07/2018 16:43

ParkheadParadise I'm so sorry Flowers

The80sweregreat · 04/07/2018 16:44

I saw this. Very sad news.

DearMrDilkington · 04/07/2018 16:45

Forensic officers last night removed a car from the scene and took it off the island, while a cat was also removed from the home.

I just can't understand why the cat has been removed?

Hygge · 04/07/2018 16:46

@TheGlaikitRambler - there's a link here to an article in The Sun, which has a photograph of "forensic officers removing a cat from the home".

@ParkheadParadise - Flowers for you.

NearWildHeaven · 04/07/2018 16:46

I wondered this too OP. It's truly shocking. However, I suspect other posters are sadly correct. The police probably know / suspect what has happened and just need to confirm. Altogether just awful

SoddingUnicorns · 04/07/2018 16:48

ParkheadParadise Flowers

People are vultures when it comes to a murder, it brings out the worst in a lot of people. Speculation and gossip is particularly insidious.

Why isn’t it headline news? Because she was Scottish.

Hygge · 04/07/2018 16:49

Only posted half of what I meant to post there.

It may just be that since they have to search the house, the family can't stay there and they needed to remove the cat so it can be looked after elsewhere until they are done.

TheGlaikitRambler · 04/07/2018 16:51

I stand corrected on the cat, perhaps a little weird for sure!

Poor wee lass.

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/07/2018 16:53

Poor little girl.
I'm in the same county and it's all over the news here.
I did wonder about the SS comment, and hope they weren't involved.

ConferencePear · 04/07/2018 16:55

A little girl has been murdered and people here use it as an excuse to vilify the national media.
This has been at the top or near the top of every national news bulletin for the last two days. Don't use this poor murdered girl to express your prejudices for goodness sake.

SoddingUnicorns · 04/07/2018 16:57

I’m more pissed off about the speculation and gossip than people commenting that the national media is only interested in certain areas of the country, but you’re on your soap box now, don’t let that stop you.

SequinsOnEverything · 04/07/2018 16:58

This is the first time I've heard about her, which does seem very strange.

I suspect it will turn out to be someone she knew.

Poor girl.

SoddingUnicorns · 04/07/2018 17:01

Her name was Aleesha McPhail, she was 6 years old, went to Chapelside Primary in Airdrie and she mattered, she was loved, and she deserved better.

The rest means nothing until the truth comes out. Her poor mum found out on Facebook of all places, poor woman.

SoddingUnicorns · 04/07/2018 17:02

Sorry Alesha, not Aleesha.

ParkheadParadise · 04/07/2018 17:02

@SoddingUnicorns

I’m more pissed off about the speculation and gossip than people commenting that the national media is only interested in certain areas of the country,

Well said totally agree with you.

brizzledrizzle · 04/07/2018 17:05

I suspect that the police have asked the media to keep quiet about it for whatever reason, my assumption is that it's because it's such a small community and it'd be too easy for the media to print things which could point the finger at innocent people inadvertently or say something which could jeopardise a trial.

They might be being sympathetic after the mother found out via facebook, that's truly terrible.

SoddingUnicorns · 04/07/2018 17:05

@ParkheadParadise I’m very sorry to hear about your DD. And I’m sorry that it was compounded by vultures gossiping and spreading stories. Awful, awful, awful people.

When my friend was murdered the things people said were awful, the gossiping and almost getting off on it were abhorrent. It’s not a story, it’s a life. People need to get a grip of themselves.

LanguidLobster · 04/07/2018 17:06

Christ sorry Parkhead :(

Butteredparsn1ps · 04/07/2018 17:06

I've seen & heard coverage on TV and radio news over the last couple of days. I don't believe there is a conspiracy to keep this quiet because it happens north of the border.

I sense the media coverage is deliberately limited.

Poor Child Thanks
My thoughts for her Mum too Thanks

SoddingUnicorns · 04/07/2018 17:07

I didn’t mean to imply losing a friend was anything like what happened to you ParkheadParadise I really am sorry if it sounded that way.

ChuChuUa · 04/07/2018 17:09

Why isn’t it headline news? Because she was Scottish.

I think Caroline Glachan was headline news 22 years ago and she was Scottish.

BangingOn · 04/07/2018 17:09

Park I’m so sorry, I can’t imagine what you went though and having to deal with the media and speculation on top of grieving for your baby must be horrific.

I hope justice was served so that you had resolution, even if not closure.
