Why is the story of this poor girl so far down all the news websites?

Such a dreadful case. Tragic waste of a young life :(

Buzzlightyearsbumchin · 04/07/2018 14:27

Why on earth didn't her dad call the child's mother as soon as she was missing?

I would infer from this that she was from a chaotic household.

Sadly, I think it is because the family is involved.

Jesus Christ. A child has died. A family is grieving. And, once again, people think it's ok to pick over less than perfect reactions, play amature psychologist and think they are bloody Columbo all of a sudden.

We, the general public, will be told about events if and when it's appropriate. Meantime let's bear in mind that a grieving family are already going through hell right now and could well be reading this.

@birdsgottafly -it wasn't the GM who put it on FB, in was the Neighbours.

No, it was the grandmother, Angela King. Her FB page is still open and there are messages on there from yesterday from Alesha's mother, frantic. Horrible. But there's obviously a lot going on that the general public aren't aware of.

@Eliza9917, no it was that his parents didn't have the same name, though they were reported with the same name elsewhere. It's not important though, obviously.

Maybe they weren't married then?

MrsJayy · 04/07/2018 14:32

I think the grandfather is the grans boyfriend and not the dad iyswim.

gorgeoushazydaysofsummer · 04/07/2018 14:33

@Barbaraof Seville - element of a remote Scottish island being ote Scottish island being far off the radar of London centric news organisations.

Well, the World Cup is in Russia, the Thai cave boys are in Thailand - not exactly the Home Counties.

You get the ferry from Bute to Wemyss Bay - which is 32 miles from Glasgow. Not that remote.

The English tend to be completely ignorant that there is a country north of the border. Most English people don't know much Scottish geography either.

wendiwoowho · 04/07/2018 14:33

Apparently people tried to get in touch with the mother when the little girl was first reported missing.
The GM put up a Facebook post about the little girl being missing asking for help finding her, at the time I'm sure the last thing she thought was going to happen was that the poor little girl wasn't going to return safe. It's horrible.

Hygge · 04/07/2018 14:36

That poor girl.

I feel very sorry for her mother, finding out via facebook that her daughter was missing.

I hope the police are able to quickly find out who is responsible.

hayli · 04/07/2018 14:39

I think it did recieve alot of coverage the day it happenned. I opened 3 tabs of news and found the story there. Obv theres an investigation going on so nothing will be mentioned in the media until its possible

Eliza9917 · 04/07/2018 14:40

I've just looked at the facebook pages. The mother - not the grandmother - looks like a child herself. How fucking awful.

Just been reading the grandmothers FB post about her going missing, some utter bastards on there speculating and nothing but trolling.

Imagine how her family must feel reading such stuff.

ratspeaker · 04/07/2018 14:54

Its headline news up here.
It is being treated as murder.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-44704892

I've seen no reference to social services placing the child in Bute. She was attending school where her mother lives.
Its the school holidays here in Scotland.

You are right ratspeaker there is nothing about Ss I don't know where people got that ,the news jusr said she was on holiday to her grandmothers

GruciusMalfoy · 04/07/2018 15:05

I'm confused about the SS reference, I've not seen that elsewhere. The little girl's headteacher has said she just finished P2 at her school, which is on the mainland, and where mum lives. I just hope that the investigation is quick and whoever responsible caught, for all of her family's sake.

LoniceraJaponica · 04/07/2018 15:07

It was on the news headlines on radio 2 this morning. It is very much natioanl news.

iknowimcoming · 04/07/2018 16:08

So so sad - her poor mother looks so very young too Sad

Oldbutstillgotit · 04/07/2018 16:15

I think the case is utterly tragic but also odd. I could be wrong but why did the GM put a post on FB rather than immediately call the police ? Also, it appears to be a small flat so how could the wee soul have been abducted without anyone hearing? And why on earth did the Mum have to find out on FB ? My gut instinct is that police have a definite line of enquiry .

DearMrDilkington · 04/07/2018 16:22

Poor little girl Sad.

Can anyone explain why forensic officers have removed a cat from the home?

TheGlaikitRambler · 04/07/2018 16:26

A lot of coverage of it up here in Scotland.

lardymclardy · 04/07/2018 16:29

It's on the news here in England. I suspect that with Bute being such a small place the police are releasing very little extra information to the media because they have somebody in mind. It's odd the warning about keeping windows and doors etc locked though. I don't know - poor wee girl.

ParkheadParadise · 04/07/2018 16:30

You shouldn't believe everything you read in the papers.
My dd1 was murdered nearly 3years ago.
On social media some of the stories and people who thought they knew what had happened to her were hardbreaking to read. Also having reporters outside your home who will go to any lengths to get a story is horrendous to deal with.
That poor child.
