To think it's possible to lose 10lb in 10 days

NotgoingoutNotstayingin · 04/07/2018 07:06

I'm going on holiday in less than a fortnight and my summer clothes don't fit!

I can lose over half a stone in that time, can't I? Preferably without the need to get Novovirus.

Positive stories and tips welcome!

If you cut alcohol , most dairy , bread and processed sugar
Exercise a lot
And eat a mainly plant based diet you will lose some and flatten tummy a bit ?

Zebraantelopegiraffe · 04/07/2018 07:08

If you find a magic solution send it my way

Oysterbabe · 04/07/2018 07:10

If you're 20st then yes. If you're 9st then probably not. To lose a lb you need to create a calorie deficit of 3500. That's a big ask every day.

TittyGolightly · 04/07/2018 07:11

Blood sugar diet.

There's a diet called the military diet which is a week long and if you follow it you can lose a good amount of weight, I did it and dropped a dress size but it was hard!

PTW1234 · 04/07/2018 07:16

You can by not eating carbs, salt and drinking loads of water.

Just be prepared to fact you will put it all back on when you start eating and drinking normally again as you will just cut water store in your body and burn a bit of fat.

So half way through your holiday your clothes won’t fit again!

Dopplerineffect · 04/07/2018 07:19

To truly lose fat you would need a deficit of 3500 a day. However you could lose it in water weight and depletion of glycogen stores but that would go back on straight away.

MsVestibule · 04/07/2018 07:20

If you start today, yes. However, you would have to be incredibly strict and would likely put a lot of it back on during the holiday.

I lost 10lbs in a week once because I needed to fit into a ballgown, but put 7lbs back on the next week! I was about 10 4 when I started it, so not exactly hefty.

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 04/07/2018 07:22

Cabbage Soup Diet worked for me a few times.
I wouldn't do it again though...

WeirdScenesInsideTheGoldmine · 04/07/2018 07:22

You can totally do this I’ve done it several times. You have two routes:
Go Keto (easy) or go on a juice fast (hard)

Go
Look up Keto U.K. on Facebook it’s a brilliant suppprt group.

And Jason vale seven day cleanse

Good luck!

Dopplerineffect · 04/07/2018 07:22

I meant 2500 a day as

10 pounds = 3500/14=2500

Quite hard

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 04/07/2018 07:24

What do you weigh?

vampirethriller · 04/07/2018 07:28

I've done roughly that on the Dukan diet but it's pretty miserable and not suitable for vegetarians. It also goes back on very quickly.

NotgoingoutNotstayingin · 04/07/2018 07:28

Thanks for encouraging replies!

I weigh 11.5. Exercise a problem because of a knee injury.

There are a few of these diets around but my understanding is that they’re mainly for weight loss prior to surgery. So where someone has a lot to lose.

But I came across this medical diet a few years ago. Never tried it but thought it was doable with determination. www.jaduncan.com/2006/04/how-i-lost-stone-in-week.html

CherryBerryChapstick · 04/07/2018 07:35

If you do VLCD you can (ie a shake diet) - I lost 15ib in a week, however the bigger you are the more you will loose. It’s the quickest way to drop the pounds in a short space of time.

I use Slim & Save but there are loadsvout there. Good luck OP

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2018 07:36

If you cut out carbs you’ll lose a few pounds of water retention over a few days. You can easily lose half a stone on the BSD (recommended by Titty above)

Come and check out our lovely thread for inspiration!

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 04/07/2018 07:36

I have done this doing extreme low carb. went all back on when I stopped though.

raysan1 · 04/07/2018 07:36

Take different clothes and eat healthier and cleaner forever, not just 10 days? What about the clothes you've been wearing this last week in the heatwave, or maybe you can buy/ borrow a couple of key items.
11.5 is only slightly overweight if you are avg height so you will look great and not care once you're having fun!

DianaT1969 · 04/07/2018 07:37

Honestly? I would buy a lovely new set of summer clothes from TKmaxx/Primark, or in the sales.
Then eat low carb with lots of water until your holiday (no alcohol either). Lots of good fats, such as oily fish, avocado etc. You'll look and feel much better and less bloated. But it could be a more sustainable and long term weight loss plan. Then enjoy yourself, but don't go mad with food on holiday. Lots of swimming to tone up and you'll be in a good place to continue when you come back.

Blood Sugar Diet thread 11 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet/3267071-blood-sugar-diet-thread-11

Basically cut out bread, pasta, potatoes, grains, sugar. Drink loads of water. Meat, cheese, eggs, full fat dairy, veg.

FiestaThenSiesta · 04/07/2018 07:39

Egg fast diet. But you will regain it if you don’t continue low carbing

gamerwidow · 04/07/2018 07:40

You could lose it but unless you’re going to keep it up all through your holiday it’ll just ping back on in a couple of days and then nothing will fit again. Wouldn’t you be better off just getting a couple of new summer bits.

HidingFromDD · 04/07/2018 07:40

no carbs (well, very low), no sugar (at all, including fruit - way more difficult than you think), drink loads of water. So basically protein and veg for each meal
