To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

Thank you Sadie Wink

Ohmydayslove · 24/06/2018 14:50

Love it. Stop being a misery guys. Us sun lovers have it very crap here in Britain so you must be happy most of the year.

If I hear people saying ‘it’s too hot’ I want to scream at them. Grin

CaptainHammer · 24/06/2018 14:56

I’m with you OP. I hate this weather. I don’t get how people can’t understand that. I understand why people don’t like cold/dark/wet weather so why don’t people understand why I don’t like being hot/sweaty/uncomfortable.

polk I’d be the one voting for a wet December day that’s dark by 4pm. I’d have that every day of the year if possible.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 24/06/2018 15:01

I'm not enjoying the Hayever. I've felt like I've had a cold for past 2 weeks.

Nothing ever bloody helps either.

Cacofonix · 24/06/2018 15:04

It's about 23 here and I think when it gets over 26 in the UK it can be uncomfortable. I've lived in far hotter places so can cope quite well. My tip from living in Australia is to keep your windows closed and your curtains too. It sounds counter intuitive but when it gets warmer outside than in it really is the best thing to do. Open windows very early in the morning then close from 9am ish and open again before bed IF it has cooled off. Keeping curtains closed really helps.

Also drink plenty and try and chill. I'm sitting in the garden under the umbrella having a cuppa. Lovely!

I love warm weather but fully understand those who don't. I tend to wear cotton dresses and sandals as think they're the most comfy in hot weather (also I look awful in shorts...)

TheGreatCornholio · 24/06/2018 15:05

You'd be better off admitting that you're a Klan Grandmaster who loves to kick puppies in your spare time and admit that you don't like hot weather.

Almondio · 24/06/2018 15:11

Having lived through several summers in America's deep south where temperatures were over 100 daily, sometimes as high as 110, this weather is a balmy Spring or Fall day.

I LOVE English summers like this.

Winegal · 24/06/2018 15:11

YABU I hate the winter and freeze my tits off for 6 months. I used to live in a very hot country though; my best temperature is about 32 degrees!

JacquesHammer · 24/06/2018 15:14

I hate summer. I burn ridiculously easy despite taking every possible precaution.

I absolutely adore autumn and winter

hipposarerad · 24/06/2018 15:23

I'm a summertime grinch too. I've hated hot sunny days ever since I got my first varicose vein at the age of 12. I've had one summer in my life where I've felt comfortable in a bikini....In my back garden.

Add in being repulsive flabby with horrendous dinner lady arms, plus subsequent varicose veins making my legs resemble a pair of giant Nik Naks and I'm left sweltering resentfully in jeans or maybe a maxi if it's possible to wear a bra without it showing.

I prefer spring and autumn, where the sun might be out but you still need a cardie.

Soubriquet · 24/06/2018 15:27

I hate the hot weather

I get weak, headachy and sick. I have to stay out of the sun as much as I can

Luckily enough, our house has thick walls so it's usually pretty cool in the house.

LizB62A · 24/06/2018 15:32

I'm with you OP - I overheat really easily, I always have done, so the slightest effort makes me faint in this weather. I can cope on holidays as I can cool down in the pool, wear shorts etc. but I can't do that when I'm working.....

LizB62A · 24/06/2018 15:32

Sorry, missed a word - the slightest effort makes me feel faint (I only
actually faint about once a year !)

MarshaBradyo · 24/06/2018 15:32

Love it
So happy with this weather

Treaclepie19 · 24/06/2018 15:33

I hate it.
I'm allowed to say that because I don't moan when it's freezing in winter Grin

The80sweregreat · 24/06/2018 15:37

I hate it. Everything is bleak looking in the garden and I just get hot and irritable.
Most folk I know love it! They think I’m odd.

wanderings · 24/06/2018 15:43

YABU - we had an extremely long and hard winter, for most of us this sunshine is long-awaited; a ray of sunshine dies every time someone moans about it. This is the third thread I've hidden moaning about the hot weather.

Mogleflop · 24/06/2018 15:48

"Third thread I've hidden" - and posted on Grin go outside and enjoy it, don't waste it then!

bruffin · 24/06/2018 15:49

Im at the greenwich festival and its hot in the sun. Dh says its 24 but im having a pimms to cool down

HollyGibney · 24/06/2018 15:54

I can't stand it either but am ok-ish up to 25/26 after that I start to feel quite ill. If your body can't cope with heat it can't cope, doesn't make you a misery guts or spoiling it for anyone else Hmm

lanbury · 24/06/2018 15:55

I'm just happy it's not bloody raining! Brits and the weather, never happy Wink

Thesearepearls · 24/06/2018 16:02

I'm happy as a sandboy!

I don't moan about rain or snow but it's so lovely in the UK when it's sunny :)

I've been following the sun around the garden - the back and side gardens get the morning sun and the front garden the afternoon sun.

My lawns are getting a bit crispy though - they are reacting to the sun in much the way you do OP! I've been sprinkling them so they are showing signs of reviving. Might the same solution work for you?

The80sweregreat · 24/06/2018 16:03

I’ve always hated it though!

Crinkle77 · 24/06/2018 16:03

It's very pleasant here today 22 degrees. I like it like this but any hotter and I can't bear it. Abroad you have a nice cold swimming to jump in to and nice beaches to swim in. Our houses are not set up for it. We have carpets and no air con.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 24/06/2018 16:03

YANBU. I'm 22 weeks pregnant (but carrying like I'm much further long according to all the randoms who feel the need to comment on the size of my bump) and I am not enjoying the hot weather at all.

I have hayfever (that I can't take anything for) and am very pale so I burn easily. There's those annoying little bugs everywhere and I keep getting bitten.

Dreading tomorrow as it's supposed to get even hotter and my job is very busy and involves being on my feet a lot of the time. There's no air conditioning and I'm not allowed to wear sleeveless tops/dresses, flip flops/sandals, anything remotely comfortable in hot weather basically.
