To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

YABVU. When it’s like this I get up early and have breakfast in the garden. Bliss.

To help keep cool, cotton undies, linen top and long loose skirt. Sandals
Close the curtains against the sun but open all the windows upstairs so you get a through draught. Eat salad and fruit and lots of cold water. Do everything slowly.

Great weather to lose weight in. Smile

Sortofcool · 24/06/2018 12:58

sandy I understand what your saying but for those of us who aren’t ‘normal’ or just can’t cope with warm/hot weather it’s ok to say so. Doesn’t mean we want other people not to enjoy it just that we don’t. And it can be good to know you’re not the only one

Thehop · 24/06/2018 12:59

I love it on holiday too, but not here x

LookAtThatCritter · 24/06/2018 13:00

I’ve just moved somewhere that’s been 36 degrees and a real feel of 44 all week. I’m not sure a day in England will ever feel properly hot again Sad

BendydickCuminsnatch · 24/06/2018 13:11

Oh I’m loving it because it’s a really fresh heat, not sticky/muggy/humid at all! 24 degrees. I’m not a summer person at all, much prefer the end of the year, but I can’t be miserable when there is a cloudless sky, a slight breeze and heat when stepping outside! 😍 also perfect excuse to stay inside watching a movie if you’re too hot 😄

LapsedHumanist · 24/06/2018 13:11

Namelesswonder supposedly 26 in Edinburgh tomorrow, fingers crossed...

Fluffyears · 24/06/2018 13:20

The only bad part is being stuck in an office all day :(

x2boys · 24/06/2018 13:21

so just becsuse its not hot in London it cant possibly be hot anywhere else?HmmFwiw its been lovely and warm in my north western town for weeks

keyboardkate · 24/06/2018 13:26

Dry heat is more than bearable, it's the humidity that's the killer for me.

Mogleflop · 24/06/2018 13:31

@Sortofcool interesting, thank you so much for replying (and sorry that you have that of course, it sounds nightmarish). I was asked about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome as part of the autism assessment but just shrugged it off. I'll do some research as I'm seeing a few familiar things there. I'm not keen to have more diagnoses but if I could one day find cures or treatments then that would be good.

Also, you just have to learn to ignore all the sun-lovers on threads like these. They genuinely don't get it (or perhaps don't want to?)

It's interesting to watch how many get very angry about people even mentioning issues with heat, as if they're somehow being demanding or insulting, or an insult, or threatening to take away to the "good weather", which is all bollocks. And weird.

Mousefunky · 24/06/2018 13:33

Completely agree. I hate summer time. I hate feeling sticky and sweaty and gross. It’s not helped this year by my pregnancy which is just causing a great deal of heat related agitation. I can’t wait for it to cool down.

TheGreatCornholio · 24/06/2018 13:34

@namelesswonder It's forecast to be 27 degrees in my little corner of Scotland next week. I think I'll die.

Presh12345 · 24/06/2018 13:38

47 here today. In winter, when it's 21,22 ish we have our hoodies on and are wrapped up in blankets if we sit outside.

ReturnofSaturn · 24/06/2018 13:40

Wow i live in Queensland Australia. Its just gone winter here and as soon as it dropped to 20 our big jumpers were out and log burner kept on all day now!

RoseWhiteTips · 24/06/2018 13:41

Autumn is also my favourite season but this weather is bliss after the greyness of last week. 🙂

PinguForPresident · 24/06/2018 13:42

It's bloody lovely. Only low 20s here. I can't bear it when people start whining the second we see any sunshine. Get outside and get a bit of Vitamin D! Our winters are so long and grey it's just wonderful to feel the sun.

janaus · 24/06/2018 13:43

Aussie here, freezing here at the moment, days of 15c. Hate summer too, 40 c. Just saying, lol

Mogleflop · 24/06/2018 13:45

Oh and we also always get people from hot countries saying "it's hotter here!"

Which is true (if a bit pointless).

But there you go Grin

greendale17 · 24/06/2018 13:45

YABU- we don’t have this weather all the time

RoseWhiteTips · 24/06/2018 13:45

If you really have a problem with it, just sit in a cool place and gaze out at it.
😎

PolkerrisBeach · 24/06/2018 13:47

Anyone moaning about the heat clearly has never been overseas where it really does get hot and humid.

Sunshine and light evenings is infinitely preferable to December, when it's freezing cold and dark by 4pm.

YABVVVVVVVVU.

QuinnElle · 24/06/2018 13:51

Its not even hot. Its only in the 20s. Stop being a miserable baby.

RoseWhiteTips · 24/06/2018 13:53

A miserable baby?!🤣
