To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

It was 35C where I live last weekend, humid and miserable. This weekend it's 23C, and feels very pleasant. I got a heap of neglected housework done yesterday, and taking advantage today too.

Gin to all suffering hot flushes or pregnant. My DD4 was born at the end of August 17 years ago.

mathanxiety · 24/06/2018 16:10

MinisterforCheekyFuckery - you can take Clarityn during pregnancy.

Ask your pharmacist if there is anything else too. But I know for a fact that Clarityn is safe.

mathanxiety · 24/06/2018 16:10

You can also ask for some accommodation for pregnancy in your job, given the heat.

Could not disagree more. We had 8 or 9 months of sucky winter weather. We deserve a few lovely sunny warm months! It's gorgeous out here! (Cambridgeshire)

Todamhottoday · 24/06/2018 16:14

My god, how can anyone hate the summer in the UK, people are always complaining about how grey, cold, dark and miserable and wet it is then , low and behold a good day now and then...

...complaints.... the weather is always going to annoy some people no matter what.

And yes I suffer from hay fever, no pleasing some folk is there

2018Already · 24/06/2018 16:14

It’s not so much the heat as the lack of rain. It hasn’t rained in about two months where we are. We live in the countryside. It’s dusty and it’s staring to stink.

I am incredibly pale, therefore I burn very easily. I never complain about grey or wet weather. I love it 😊

Being a tremendous fatty, I don’t much care for very hot weather but it’s rather lovely in —the back of fucking beyond— Lincolnshire today. I’m in the shade with a book and am just pleasantly warm. Of course, if I actually do anything I become a sweaty mess so I have opted to do as little as possible.

I find linen trousers, sandals and linen/very light cotton tops are the most comfortable get up. I scour the shops/websites/charity shops from February onwards looking for very lightweight, natural fibre tops with sleeves (I prefer not to inflict my bingo wings on the public at large). Can’t understand why folk (fat or otherwise) pour themselves into cropped leggings and tight polyester sleeveless tops in hot weather. They must be roasting.

I never ever complain about the dark or cold because I love them. How can anyone not love dark cosy days? I'm sick of people complaining all winter.

PumpkinPie2016 · 24/06/2018 16:31

I do sometimes struggle in the heat but I am ok at the moment (guess it depends on where you are - I am in the North West and although very warm here today it's manageable).

Spent a lovely couple of hours at the park with DS today which I really enjoyed as a have hardly been during the winter/spring months Smile

SickOfSitting · 24/06/2018 16:31

It's lovely! Not having to put the expensive heat on, lovely light evenings, people happier and more pleasant. No coats to lug around, no grey sky to look at. Just nice gardens to look at in light summer clothing whilst not freezing.

We had such a long long winter where it was cold, damp and miserable for so long, this nice weather feels so lovely 😊

FoofFighter · 24/06/2018 16:33

Forecast for up to 30 in my part of Scotland by the end of the week. Really not relishing it! Sean Batty said so it must be true!!
It's already very very warm here today, where I am seems to have its own microclimate where we miss most of the winter snows and get temperatures like the south coast of England.

ilovesooty · 24/06/2018 16:35

dark cosy daysSad No thank you.

dementedma · 24/06/2018 16:39

in Scotlnad and loving the sunshine. 90% of the year the weather is shit so not going to compplain about a bit of sunshine. My only regret is that I have to work any my office is on the "wrong" side of the building and looks into a grotty central courtyard where the bins are and gets no light. so while the admin team open the French doors onto the patio and lawn (I work in a very old house that has been converted) and bask in the sunshine, I will shivering away in my gloomy little grotto.

SickOfSitting · 24/06/2018 16:40

Dark cosy days are only good if you can afford to sit indoors with cosy heating on as opposed to sitting indoors with your coat on where you can see your breath!

lardymclardy · 24/06/2018 16:42

I suffer from hyperhydrosis - this weather is miserable for me. I met DD last week for 'parents invited to school dinner day' I walked the mile down to the school and whilst waiting was dripping from my face, my hair was soaked. It gets worse as obviously you are anxious about it, then when a parent says hello and clocks it, it's worse! I need botox apparently, but the NHS doesn't do it in my postcode.

So for all of those calling 'misery' etc you are SO lucky. I wish I could go out for one day without soaking my head/clothes. It also happens in the winter so there is no let up :(

Nodnol · 24/06/2018 16:44

I hate summer. I’m in Australia where it can be weeks over 40c. We don’t have air conditioning in this house either.

I spent July 2016 in London, I’d trade you any day. And your dark winters inside make this little introvert jealous.

Op, to cool down get a hand towel and wet it in cold water. Wring it out then place over you like a blanket.

Bringonspring · 24/06/2018 16:45

I’m with you! 21 degrees and happy. No more

Todamhottoday · 24/06/2018 16:47

I love the winter too, those dark long nights, curtains closed, heating fire on....fantastic,

We are so lucky in the UK to have such seasons.

seventhgonickname · 24/06/2018 16:48

I love it when we get a decent spell of weather as I can enjoy some of it as I work full time.
Used to be nice when dd was small though as if I got too hot I would join her in the paddling pool.
Also it's not humid so cool in the shade and we have had cool evenings and nights(though I like warmevenings when I can sit out until dark).
All housework is on hold while the weather lasts. No

Todamhottoday · 24/06/2018 16:48

...and as per my user name I like most of the time in a very hot climate

seventhgonickname · 24/06/2018 16:50

My sympathies to all you pregnant ladies though. My hrt is mostly holding up,off together an iced gin.

Allegorical · 24/06/2018 16:50

Normally I would be loving it but I am having a c-section tommorrow and dreading the heatwave. Of all the weeks!!!

PinkCrystal · 24/06/2018 16:51

I agree. Too hot for me!
