DH just gone away for three days, otherwise he would talk me down I’m sure. But right now it’s just me and the DC and I’ve opened DDs room to discover this.... nest? Chrysalis? It’s about 5cm x 3cm. Help!

Maybe some swallows were attempting to build a nest?

From the photo it really does look like a particularly crap snail, but I presume you know better because you can look at it from all angles.

Personally I’d dig out some diy gloves and mask/glasses before having a quick poke with a small stick/ wrong end of a pencil, but fair enough if you really don’t want to. Seems a shame to evict your daughter until your husband comes home though.

PoodlesOfFund · 20/06/2018 19:09

What kind of mutant fucking snails are rolling around the rest of the UK?

Surely snails, look snail shaped?

LimboLuna · 20/06/2018 19:09

It’s not a wasps nest.

Looks like a lost snail to me too

Lycanthropology · 20/06/2018 19:09

Surely a painted wall would be far too dry for a snail to travel all the way up? And if it could there'd be a trail on the wall. There isn't.

No idea what it is, OP, but it's chuffing gross.

PoodlesOfFund · 20/06/2018 19:10

Aw now I feel a bit bad for the ugly not a snail.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 20/06/2018 19:10

Grin at 999 practice.

Ansumpasty · 20/06/2018 19:10

I thought it was massive from your pic. Looking back, I’m on team snail

Calyx · 20/06/2018 19:11

For those who couldn't see pic 2. Any help?

gamerchick · 20/06/2018 19:11

Oh good grief give it a poke, if it's a snail it'll do it's 'gerroff' cling on thing then you'll know.

Ruddy pansies you lot Grin

jazzandh · 20/06/2018 19:11

If it's a snail it's been through the blender...

that aside - if it was once a snail, as someone upthread may have said there will be a trail...........

Lycanthropology · 20/06/2018 19:11

It's not a snail.

TatianaLarina · 20/06/2018 19:12

If it were a snail a) it would look like one and b) it would have a trail up the wall.

It looks much more cocoony/nesty/icky.

PoodlesOfFund · 20/06/2018 19:12

We have snails crawl in to the bathroom window on the first floor. So yes the little bastards absolutely can climb up a wall, but that's not a snail!

Amused that that UK has protected the roman snail but that France was like, nah, pass the garlic butter.

jazzandh · 20/06/2018 19:12

..in fact it looks more like a mussel or whelk than a snail!

Ashedload · 20/06/2018 19:12

Gutted I can only see the first picture!

gnarlington · 20/06/2018 19:12

How big is it?? That is not a snail Confused

Kelvingrove · 20/06/2018 19:13

Are we helping you OP?

Pebblespony · 20/06/2018 19:13

Can anyone see the second and third pictures?

LittleMissNaice · 20/06/2018 19:13

This thread is reminding me of the poster who though she'd found drugs in her sons room and was instantly advised to "lick it". Any chance it's a smint OP?

tastylancs · 20/06/2018 19:13

Don’t think it’s the emperor moth cocoon and nothing comes up when I google ‘bursted gall’.

DC happily playing Duplo, blissfully unaware of the Hitchcock Hell upstairs.

Tape a lettuce leaf near it and see if it races over.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 20/06/2018 19:13

I'm also in Lancashire, thinking of getting a mini bus to bring fellow lancs dwellers for a look see.
You could charge, it might cover the cost of the exterminator?

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 20/06/2018 19:13

How the hell are any of you getting 'snail' from that picture?!
