DH just gone away for three days, otherwise he would talk me down I’m sure. But right now it’s just me and the DC and I’ve opened DDs room to discover this.... nest? Chrysalis? It’s about 5cm x 3cm. Help!

Grin at cthulu though.

Yellowpokadotbikini · 20/06/2018 19:59

Oh my days, I'm stuck on the fence! I want to be on team snail (cos I'm a bit of a sheep, tend to go with the majority) but I just can't see it! Def needs a name, everything is less scary if it had a name Grin

LittleMe03 · 20/06/2018 20:00

If you just leave it and don't poke it to find out then it'll be gone..... and who knows where! ShockShock

ShawshanksRedemption · 20/06/2018 20:01

Another vote for snail.

[And also shameless placemarking!!]

ChevalierTialys · 20/06/2018 20:01

Fuck, that's terrifying! Kill it with fire!

(Not read the thread, sorry)

AngeloMysterioso · 20/06/2018 20:01

How often do you go in your DDs room OP? Just thinking don’t nests of most kinds take a little while to build, so unlikely to have popped up in a short space of time

mimibunz · 20/06/2018 20:04

Just move, OP.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 20/06/2018 20:06

I think you need to find somewhere else to live and set your house on fire.
nothing that hasn't been said before post that isn't just blatant placemarking

HeyDolly · 20/06/2018 20:06

Team ‘Poke It’ here

EhWhatPardon · 20/06/2018 20:07

What you need op, is, some lube and a fish slice....

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 20/06/2018 20:08

I have snails constantly halfway up the front of my house. They can go pretty high.

DownstairsMixUp · 20/06/2018 20:08

Its making me feel sick!!! 😟😟😟

Tinkobell · 20/06/2018 20:10

Er. Is anyone else seeing the face of an old man etched on the surface ....sort of ghostly and ancient looking?!

Mia184 · 20/06/2018 20:10

tasty I wouldn’t entirely rule it out but the swallows would attempt to continue to build it and be around.

Emma198 · 20/06/2018 20:10

It gave me a shiver. I think I'd try to Hoover up with the longest extension on the Hoover then leave it running for at least 5 hours Grin

BeenThereDone · 20/06/2018 20:11

Spider egg sack?? Full of lickel baby spiders who will hatch and take over..... Nite nite.. Sweet dreams

Tinkobell · 20/06/2018 20:11

Actually. The face is more like a laughing skull. Sorry I realise this is helping OP.

halfwitpicker · 20/06/2018 20:12

Have you not snapped and farted yet?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 20/06/2018 20:12

It's a gravity defying turd

halfwitpicker · 20/06/2018 20:12

i need to get back to work i really do

Voice0fReason · 20/06/2018 20:12

It's a snail. Trails can dry up very quickly.
Better photos needed - different angles please.

OliveOrTwist · 20/06/2018 20:12

😂😂😂 Loving Pardons suggestion of lube and a fish slice...

IDontLikeZombies · 20/06/2018 20:13

I'm in camp Cuthulu. For Gawd's sake don't poke it, anything could happen. Bet you'll all feel pretty bad if the OP pokes it and tentacles come out.

Where do you all live if that looks like your local snails? I just want to know so I can come armed if I'm ever visiting. Our wee snails are lovely, I've never felt the need to take a 2x4 to them, that thing not so much.
It's not a bat, again bats are lovely, that is most certainly not.

Spaghettio · 20/06/2018 20:13

DH says beginnings of wasps nest. DS(13) says radioactive caterpillar (they've had an infestation at his school and he's obsessed)!

DH says glass & cardboard trick and chuck it out the window. Good luck.

(I've got no fucking idea!)

Justmuddlingalong · 20/06/2018 20:13

It's the thought of things like this that make me check under my pillows and quilt, every night, before I get into bed.
