Yay - I get first post (only if I type fast)

I just watched a short piece by the BBC showing a centre for unaccompanied boys (the really fancy shelter that was brought out to try and deflect from the ones made up of pens!) and right at the end, They showed the boys being given dinner of a burger with some salad. And I just thought of my DS who would not eat that.. as he's fussy and annoying and incredibly inflexible.

This type of forced separation would utterly ruin him and the thought of my kind, gentle, rigid little DS in a situation like that makes me cry.

Some of those children will have SEN and the idea there are children who are utterly bewildered and alone and scared and thrown into a world which is completely alien - wtf is going on!!?

lettuceWrap · 19/06/2018 19:35

Thanks for the new thread Grumpendorf, that was to the wire!

SanFranBear · 19/06/2018 19:35

Dammit, chocolate - you beat me to it Grin

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 19/06/2018 19:36

'Phew! Thanks for the new thread.

lionheart · 19/06/2018 19:38

Thank you Gum. I thought it was a toss up between shit-show and cluster-fuck this time round.

You have very good thread timing instincts.

MairzyDoats · 19/06/2018 19:40

I was reading about the pens on twitter - someone asked what action we could take. Another user suggested lobbying MPs to take a stand against Trump's UK visit - I'm trying to find out if any of the usual lobby groups (38 degrees etc) are starting a campaign... I can't see it actually happening but if the UK told Trump he wasn't welcome until the children are released back to their parents it might embarrass him into action?

boatyardblues · 19/06/2018 19:45

Thanks for the new thread Gump and for retaining “authoritarian shitshow.” I feel clusterfuck should be kept in reserve for the end times, which surely cannot be too far off??? /Polyanna

Sometimes we need a little Pollyanna...

'The Trump administration has likely lost track of nearly 6,000 unaccompanied migrant children, thousands more than lawmakers were alerted to last month, according to a McClatchy review of federal data.'

Thank you, Gump, threadbare is not a good look Smile

Trudges in with Brew and Cake for persisters.

Many thanks for new thread, Gumpendorf.

Can't defend the indefensible:

'Trump's media allies struggle to mold coherent defense of his immigration policy'

I'll need some Gin in that Brew, Perking, thanks Grin

I did not know this was a thing with Trumpy.

edition.cnn.com/2018/06/15/us/hoover-dam/index.html

'The armed man who for more than an hour blocked a highway near the Hoover Dam with an armored truck and held a sign that said "Release the OIG report" is in an Arizona jail accused of several felonies, police said Saturday.

Matthew Phillip Wright, 30, of Henderson, Nevada, is accused of terrorist acts, unlawful flight from law enforcement, carrying a weapon in the commission of a felony and misconduct involving weapons. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of blocking a highway.
"Release the OIG report" apparently refers to the US Justice Department's internal watchdog report on the department's handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe. The 568-page report was released this week, leaving Wright's message unclear.'

boatyardblues · 19/06/2018 20:35

I did not know this was a thing with Trumpy.

Really? We know he’s undiscriminating and will dry hump anything that doesn’t get out of his way quickly enough

lionheart · 19/06/2018 20:36

Interesting.

www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/06/the-making-of-a-moral-problem/563114/

'How the many-chambered heart of the internet turned the Trump administration’s family-separation policy into a different kind of scandal.'

lionheart · 19/06/2018 20:46

That's also true and a less than pleasing image.
Grin Shock

BolleauxtoBankers · 19/06/2018 20:47

Thank you for the new thread, Gumpendorf. I feel the words "cockwombling wankspanner" might have been inserted somewhere to good effect, but we can't have everything Grin

US 'to quit UN human rights council'
Leaving the council would would be the latest rejection by the US of multilateral efforts, including the Paris climate agreement and the Iran nuclear deal.

That 'Rolling Stone' piece should scare the bejesus out of any of the 'it can't happen here' crowd, and Cult45 and their ring masters are dug in deep.

MynameisJune · 19/06/2018 20:54

This is totally breaking my heart. What the fuck can be done?

ohmymimi · 19/06/2018 21:00

@JakeSherman
There’s a wave of regret rippling through House Republican circles about having trump come to the conference tonight.
mobile.twitter.com/JakeSherman/status/1009129417250168832
Too blinded by their own self interest to get that this was about him and them. Biter bit; those fangs go deep and that poison has done it's work.
