Aibu Father's Day card from pets

I have happened upon a "fanpage" on Facebook called The world according to Dylan, about what looks like a severely obese cat and the first post is a card "from the cat" to one of the owners.

This strikes me as an odd thing. I've seen people put the animal's name in addition to the rest of the family but not send a card specifically from it.

Do you send cards from your pets to people? Aibu to think this is a bit silly?

@emma198

The poor cats were even made to wear party hats. It was horrific.

Cats don't usually enter into the spirit of these things, I find. Dogs tend to go with the flow and don't mind entertaining us. Cats can be a bit awkward at parties.

Need to get dinner and cuddle up with what we are watching tonight.

Father's day isn't over until midnight, folks!

NotUmbongoUnchained · 17/06/2018 18:53

The cats did have great taste in wine though it has to be said.

My cat will be lucky to see his next birthday with all this wire chewing.

EsmeeMerlin · 17/06/2018 18:56

My mum and partner share cards from the cat. They have no children together and the cat is the most spoiled cat. She gets everything, and when I took a holiday with my mum and brother, we overheard her calling home and talking to the cat Grin

It’s a running joke the cat is her 4th child and baby.

It not something I would do but each to their own, it’s not hurting anyone

ICantCopeAnymore · 17/06/2018 18:57

Notumbongo - you wouldn't have a clue we did it, it's not something I tend to broadcast. I don't think I'd associate with you though, thankfully.

Postymalone - you're pathetic.

Emma198 · 17/06/2018 19:02

Pet ownership doesn't make you a parent it makes you a pawrent Grin

CadyHeron · 17/06/2018 19:02

Father's Day cards (or Mother's Day cards ) from the dog or cat are seriously weird. I'm with you OP on this one.
Edit as just scrolled before pressing send and saw struggling to conceive and it's our baby type post and deleted "you're not the parent" part of my post. Never thought of that, sad if so Sad

Alwayscommuting · 17/06/2018 19:02

So this is going to sound odd but me and my husband discussed Father's Day and Mother's Day cards when I was pregnant. We lost the baby and got the cats, it hurts a little less if we get each other cards. I know it sounds stupid and pathetic but it makes us happy.

ICantCopeAnymore · 17/06/2018 19:04

I just can't understand why people have to be so vile and nasty about something that literally has no effect whatsoever on their lives. You must have to be pretty sad and very horrible to be so awful.

It also can't be that weird, seeing as all the card shops sell them.

CadyHeron · 17/06/2018 19:04

Always - cross posted with you Flowers

LilMadAgain · 17/06/2018 19:05

I still have birthday cards from my cats/dogs when I was younger. My dad would write on them and finding them again when I miss him brings me comfort. Myob.

Mangoo · 17/06/2018 19:07

We get each other cards from the cats. It's just a silly joke. Today's said 'To Dad, thanks for cleaning out our shit tray' Grin

We have been through a couple of miscarriages recently and it just brings a little light to a dark time, it isn't intended to be serious. Just to make the other smile through the crap life is throwing at us at the mo!

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 17/06/2018 19:08

We always do it . It has absolutely NO affect on you OP any other posters that think it’s silly. No doubt there’s plenty you all do that people that do this too would think is silly...

Dull post if ever I’ve seen one 🙄

Winegal · 17/06/2018 19:09

I used to write a happy birthday card to my DP from the cat, wrote it with my left hand so it looked like the car wrote it; was a laugh; lighten up!

Winegal · 17/06/2018 19:10

*CAT wrote it! Haha

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 17/06/2018 19:12

Our dog and cats bought their Dad a card each. The cats were really rude about sharing a card with the dog. Just because he's younger than them and is constantly trying to play with them. That's just what younger brothers do

Love that! Grin

NotUmbongoUnchained · 17/06/2018 19:12

A card from a car would be a whole other thread Grin

willowpillow · 17/06/2018 19:21

We are childless and not by choice. Sending silly cards from the dog makes what would be a crap day and a reminder of your infertility more bearable.

OliviaStabler · 17/06/2018 19:24

I think it’s really sad. And I wouldn’t associate with those sorts of people!

Thank goodness I don't know anyone like you!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/06/2018 19:25

I always get a Valentine's card from the Dogs' Trust dog I sponsor.

Unfortunately I don't think it makes Dh at all jealous even before I tell him who it's from.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 17/06/2018 19:27

Thank goodness I don't know anyone like you!

Yeah yeah that’s been established thanks
