Aibu Father's Day card from pets

I have happened upon a "fanpage" on Facebook called The world according to Dylan, about what looks like a severely obese cat and the first post is a card "from the cat" to one of the owners.

This strikes me as an odd thing. I've seen people put the animal's name in addition to the rest of the family but not send a card specifically from it.

Do you send cards from your pets to people? Aibu to think this is a bit silly?

Many people do treat their pets like their children so I guess that is why some people do it. I personally wouldn't but each to their own.

WeirdCatLady · 17/06/2018 14:22

As others have said, how the fuck is this affecting you? Are you being pinned down and forced to read messages from the dog? Is the cat pointing a gun at you? Fucks sake, lighten up you miserable bastard.

SerenDippitty · 17/06/2018 14:22

We give each other birthday, Chiristmas and valentine cards from the dog. Mothers’ and Fathers’ day cards would be silly though.

IGiorni · 17/06/2018 14:29

My husband always gets me cards from the cats, it’s a bit of harmless fun and they’re an important part of our family.

Lindy2 · 17/06/2018 14:29

It's just a bit of harmless fun.
It's good to do fun things sometimes. Life would be very dull if we were all serious all of the time. Pets are generally much loved family members for many people.

Celticlassie · 17/06/2018 14:30

I think Christmas and birthdays are great, but Father's Day is a little sad. There really are cards for everything these days mind you.

ForalltheSaints · 17/06/2018 14:31

Seems a bit silly. Christmas maybe for a small additional present, perhaps, not otherwise.

DamnWhyAreAllTheUsernamesTaken · 17/06/2018 14:31

Oh don’t be such a misery 😂

NotAnotherUserName5 · 17/06/2018 14:35

It's just a bit of fun. To some people, their pets are like children that they may or may not have.
I almost put the cat on DHs Father's Day card myself Grin

KinkyAfro · 17/06/2018 14:39

DP has a card on the mantle from daddy's little girl...our dog.

BiteyShark · 17/06/2018 14:48

Yes it's silly but it would be boring if we all had to be serious all the time.

ThrillitDontkillit · 17/06/2018 14:49

I thought about doing this, as thought it was cute. Then I thought about our cat, and what he would do if he could. Our cat is basically a prick - his nickname is Prickcat - and would no way thank DH for any of the lovely things he does for him, so based on that I decided not to. We like him being a prick Grin

crispysausagerolls · 17/06/2018 14:54

I don’t understand why Christmas or Valentine’s Day are any less silly than Father’s Day 🙈

Cheeseislife · 17/06/2018 14:54

I'd like to think OP now realises they are being an absolute misog and will not return to see all these YABU replies... what a petty miserable life they must lead

ilovepixie · 17/06/2018 14:55

Our dog got her daddy a card, aftershave and chocolates. She's a clever wee thing going to the shop all by herself!

whattodowheretogo · 17/06/2018 14:55

Lighten up OP!

Killerqueen2244 · 17/06/2018 15:00

I would have said the same until I saw a card from the dog saying ‘Thanks for picking up my poo’ and I had to get it, made me chuckle!! Grin

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/06/2018 15:18

I once sent a birthday card to my mother from our dog and cat, both of which had recently died at over 14, within 6 weeks of each other.

I had happened to find a black and white photo card of a dog and cat that looked much like them, so that was the card to their Granny, 'from Dog and Cat in Heaven.'

My mother loved it. What anyone else might have thought I gave not a stuff.

SisyphusDad · 17/06/2018 15:42

We're a very small family and I've always sent cards to the DCs from whichever pets happen to be around at the time. Makes the 'normal' couple of cards look not so lonely.

Thatsnotmypresident · 17/06/2018 15:46

We have always done Christmas presents from the cat. Let a little joy into your life, OP.

ICantCopeAnymore · 17/06/2018 15:49

We always send a card from the cats for every occasion. DS absolutely loves it.

It has no impact on anyone else and is harmless fun and we are not miserable bores

ICantCopeAnymore · 17/06/2018 15:50

I thought DH's this year was particularly good.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 17/06/2018 15:55

Hah DH collects cats (despite proclaiming himself a cat-disliker) so this year I got him a fathers day card from his many cats with a picture of a cat with a dead mouse on it, which he laughed like a drain at. Never done it before but I might keep the tradition going now.

UpstartCrow · 17/06/2018 15:56

Ddog used to sign cards with a paw print.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/06/2018 15:56

I send cards from my cats to friends cats. Also send him a birthday card from his cats. Nothing wrong with it. My cats have a stamp of their paw prints to sign their cards!
