Aibu Father's Day card from pets

I have happened upon a "fanpage" on Facebook called The world according to Dylan, about what looks like a severely obese cat and the first post is a card "from the cat" to one of the owners.

This strikes me as an odd thing. I've seen people put the animal's name in addition to the rest of the family but not send a card specifically from it.

Do you send cards from your pets to people? Aibu to think this is a bit silly?

The dog forgot the fathers day card this year. Absent minded thing forgot mothers day too.....I see a pattern.

Bastard dog still got his dad a bottle of single malt though. Confused

Absolutely I do!

Father's Day was great today. DDog gave Daddy a card and a photo frame with a pic of them in it. It says "My Daddy & Me" underneath. He started the day by running round my husband's side of the bed and jumping onto bed and kissing him. He never normally does this. He definitely new what day it was. Then he took his dad on a new walk they'd never done before. Smile.

Aibu to think this is a bit silly?

Not U at all to think that. If you think that, you can't help it and you have every right to do so.

AbsolutelyBeginning · 17/06/2018 18:18

*KNEW ffs.

lifechangesforever · 17/06/2018 18:21

DH and I always get cards from the dogs, for mother's/father's day, birthdays, Christmas etc. They are our family.

BlueJava · 17/06/2018 18:21

It's not something I'd do, but why not if the recipient likes it. Many pets are loved like one of the family.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 17/06/2018 18:23

I think it’s really sad. And I wouldn’t associate with those sorts of people!

lifechangesforever · 17/06/2018 18:25

@NotUmbongoUnchained how do you know that you don't associate with these people?

The beagles got daddy a card, a toblerone, a bottle of gin and some bottles of tonic today. They were rather pleased with their present buying abilities!

Postymalone · 17/06/2018 18:25

It’s utterly pathetic. Pet ownership does not make you a parent.

tillytoodles1 · 17/06/2018 18:26

My daughter is child-free, not by choice, This morning she gave her H2B a card and present from the dogs.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 17/06/2018 18:26

Because none of my friends are that weird. I imagine it’s the kind of people who refers to themselves as “mummy” and “daddy” about an animal. I definitely don’t know anybod them.

Clever beagles! Mind you, Snoopy proved that beagles are pretty amazing.

@Postymalone That's pretty mean and unnecessary given the amount of people who've said that they do it because for what ever reason they can't have kids themselves. It makes them happy, and literally has no effect on your life whatsoever.

CremeBrulee · 17/06/2018 18:31

The kids do mothers and Father's Day cards to us from our cats.

It's a silly bit of fun that we all laugh at. What's wrong with that??

ellav · 17/06/2018 18:35

Yep! My partner got a card and swim shorts from our dog today for upcoming holiday. He also got me perfume and a card for Mother's Day.... such a generous dog!

@sweetboykit hahaha how funny! Oddly, my dog wouldn't share a card with our unborn baby either... crossed its nickname out of the card even!!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 17/06/2018 18:35

There are some really miserable, nasty minded people on this thread. I'm sure a lot of people are equally glad they don't have to associate with you @NotUmbongoUnchained

NotUmbongoUnchained · 17/06/2018 18:36

That’s fine by me!

Katedotness1963 · 17/06/2018 18:41

It's a bit of fun. If you want to, do it, if not, ignore it. We did it when we were going through infertility and couldnt have children when we wanted. We also gave the dog a special dinner on his birthday and a present at Christmas...

lifechangesforever · 17/06/2018 18:42

Well all I know is that I have a little more love in my life because of the 'animals that call me mummy and daddy' so that's absolutely fine by me.

Baby bump also got daddy a card. Suppose she's ridiculous too.

Emma198 · 17/06/2018 18:43

@NotUmbongoUnchained just saw your post in the grudge thread Grin I forgive you even though I am a cat mummy and when I married my husband he became Daddy, and I bought him a card today and signed it with pawprints. haha.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 17/06/2018 18:44

@emma198

I think it was the cats birthday party that I went to that done it for me really Grin

ginandnappies · 17/06/2018 18:47

Doesn't really concern you who other people receive cards from surely?

Emma198 · 17/06/2018 18:47

Mine are rescued we don't know their birthdays so we have an annual adoptaversary @notumbongounchained but we've never had a party. Will have to consider it this year!

AbsolutelyBeginning · 17/06/2018 18:47

I read my dog's horoscope to him every morning. It is actually a horoscope site for dogs so they aren't just making do with recycled human ones Grin
