Looking at pictures of Meghan in a floral dress that she wore at a wedding yesterday, I can't help but believe that maybe it's high time she got herself a better stylist.
The frock is just hideous on such a stunning woman.Shock

OP posts:

She maybe likes the dress a lot. It maybe makes her feel happy wearing it.

I wish I had her bad dress sense.

JustHereForThePooStories · 17/06/2018 13:00

Dumbela
OP has apologised

She apologised for starting a thread on a topic that’s already being discussed on the boards, not for the content of the thread.

Her cunty opinion remains.

Lockheart · 17/06/2018 13:00

If anyone thinks this thread is ‘slagging off’ they must have lived a very sheltered life.

I loved the dress. The DM photo shows it in the wind so looks massive.

She could do amazing things for the British fashion industry as Kate did for Reiss.
But obviously it does require to actually care about what she wears. Which MN obviously don't.

TumbleTussocks · 17/06/2018 13:01

All those of you telling OP to "get a life" clearly don't get the irony of opening a thread you're not interested in just to take a pop at the OP.

It's natural to discuss the fashion choice of a high profile woman. I think the frock was awful but many of the guests wore - IMHO - hideous outfit - look at Kitty Spencer! Maybe that's the fashion now in aristocratic circles.

Blueemeraldagain · 17/06/2018 13:02

She’s buying herself a sliver of privacy with her choices. She’s smart.

That’s a good (and quite sad) point.

Of course she does QuinnElle! Duh.

MeyYael · 17/06/2018 13:02

I Googled ‘Duchess of Sussex’ and it was the first news story.

The first result I got was '5 reasons why being a royal is stupid' (well, in German. ..) [laugh]

Battleax · 17/06/2018 13:02

What, so an unpleasant drip drip drip of low key misogynistic criticism is just a-okay because it isn’t something much worse? Fuck that.

Battleax · 17/06/2018 13:04

clearly don't get the irony of opening a thread you're not interested in just to take a pop at the OP.

But we ARE interested in women being relentlessly criticised for their clothing choices. It’s just that we don’t like it.

MeyYael · 17/06/2018 13:04

The loose black and white dress?

It's lovely imo. And it actually looks rather comfortable!! (Which is great imo.)

MeyYael · 17/06/2018 13:05

Blue and white ;)

flippyfloppyflower · 17/06/2018 13:06

I posted this on the other thread but my views still stand:

I never condemn women on how they choose to dress and I never condone other women who do so. It means a woman can only be judged on how she looks and not on her talents, skills and achievements. Enough men judge us purely on how we look - we really do not need women doing the same.

Blueemeraldagain · 17/06/2018 13:07

There is something about a group of women defending Megan from being “slagged off” (I maintain in my opinion that she isn’t actually being directly criticised) by calling a woman vile, cunty, sad and telling her to fuck off/get a life etc.

The OP has been slagged off much, much more harshly than Megan.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 17/06/2018 13:07

Tumble, What's 'ironic' about that? OP et al are posting mean comments about a woman's clothing - other posters are exercising our freedom to post our dislike of that spite.

Stop telling people where they can and can't post.

Lockheart · 17/06/2018 13:07

It isn’t misogynistic to say clothes aren’t flattering on someone. Unless I was also being misandrist yesterday when I told my boyfriend that the jacket he’d tried on didn’t suit him.

Pepperypig · 17/06/2018 13:09

Battleax that's a bit of an intense comment. Bet you're a riot at a dinner party.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 17/06/2018 13:09

Blueemerald, it's not just about Meghan, it's about the spite from some women who think they have the right to criticise other women for how they look. They don't. If they choose to do it then they will get pulled up on it.

That 'freedom of speech' door swings both ways you see...

NotTakenUsername · 17/06/2018 13:09

Or in other words...
“She started in, na na na naaah! 😝”

Olddear · 17/06/2018 13:10

I have a life. The dress was awful.

TumbleTussocks · 17/06/2018 13:13

27 year old "fashion ambassador" Kitty Spencer

It's like the emperor's new clothes ....

Duchess of Sussex dress
Battleax · 17/06/2018 13:17

Battleax that's a bit of an intense comment. Bet you're a riot at a dinner party.

Which comment? The “I’m not too keen on misogyny” comment?

What makes you think that only the sexists have fun? Grin

Blueemeraldagain · 17/06/2018 13:18

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe

Are those spiteful women on this thread? Because I have only really seen spite directed towards the OP and a very mild critique of a dress. I would completely agree if we were talking about a woman’s physical appearance (for example weight or race) or making judgements about her personality or behaviour from her clothes (“asking for it”) but all the OP has really said is that in her opinion the dress didn’t suit Megan.

MereDintofPandiculation · 17/06/2018 13:20

It's natural to discuss the fashion choice of a high profile woman. Illustrating in one sentence the difference views society has of men and women.

Battleax · 17/06/2018 13:20

It isn’t misogynistic to say clothes aren’t flattering on someone. Unless I was also being misandrist yesterday when I told my boyfriend that the jacket he’d tried on didn’t suit him.

It’s striking though, that you very rarely see a “what was he thinking” thread about a Male sleb’s clothes. Maybe once in a blue moon when someone has worn three types of tartan together topped off with a comedy animal head.
