to be annoyed at eating sausages for lunch

Slartybartfast · 17/06/2018 11:34

i buy sausages and divide them into 4, since our dc are older and in and out and not sure if they will be home.
so i defrost for whoever is home for an Evening Meal

DH announces, he will have a sausage sandwich for lunch, or a couple of sausages for breakfast, like a bloody king!
AIBU to attempt to restrict this reckless behaviour?

I agree with one of the posters above. Buy a big pack of frozen sausages which can be cooked from frozen. We always have some in the freezer so anyone can cook themselves a sausage at any time of the day if they wish.

LardLizard · 17/06/2018 12:06

Lol at like a king

This really made me laugh thanks op
Needed that

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 17/06/2018 12:06

completely YABU

I never understand adults who try to police what other adults are eating, who made you King of the world?

Unless you need ingredients for a very specific recipe, all food is for every one in the house, unless they are too young and need adults to teach them to eat healthy meals at healthy times.

Defrost more sausages, add something else to diner, ask your DH to make diner himself, go out together - might be tricky on Father's day, so call the restaurants first.
I know it's lighthearted, but I really can't see what the big deal is. I can't imagine my life if my DH was supervising my food intake in my own home, that's nuts.

CoughLaughFart · 17/06/2018 12:07

only YABU if you were planning to cook them for dinner tonight and have nothing else in

Then what WAS he allowed to eat for lunch?

Basta · 17/06/2018 12:07

This thread is far funnier than I would ever have expected a sausage-related thread to be.

And I might jump on the sausage-sandwich-for-lunch bandwagon too.

cliberryjibbery · 17/06/2018 12:07

Are you on a really tight budget or something? If not I can only presume this thread is a pisstake.

LardLizard · 17/06/2018 12:08

How many sausages each do you normally have for your tea ?

DryHeave · 17/06/2018 12:09

We always have some in the freezer so anyone can cook themselves a sausage at any time of the day if they wish.

Sounds like a family of sausage emperors right there.

CiderwithBuda · 17/06/2018 12:09

I love a sausage sandwich for lunch or breakfast. Doesn’t happen often though. We always cook extra as we both love them cold. Yum!

WittyJack · 17/06/2018 12:10

YABU, sausages are fucking rank.

Buy a nice box of falafel.

1043voyager · 17/06/2018 12:12

If this is the type of trivial thing that annoys you, I would not want to be in a "relationship" with you.

KurriKurri · 17/06/2018 12:14

As a vegetarian I find this thread Triggering.
Please get MNHQ to put a warning in the title SadSadSadCake

possumgoddess · 17/06/2018 12:14

I totally understand where OP is coming from. I assume that you are on a very tight budget and so meal planning is essential. Sausages ARE fine for dinner and can be stretched with plenty of veg. I have been in the situation where if something gets eaten just because somebody fancies it there isn't enough for a proper meal later on. If this is your situation OP just give him whatever he would have had for the non-sausage meal when everyone else is eating their sausages. And for those who say 2 sausages isn't enough - it is perfectly possible to buy sausages in packs of more than 8, and if you are really short of dosh then 2 sausages is enough protein, just fill up on veg.

Ooopsijustsnarted · 17/06/2018 12:15

Who made you the sausage police?
In our house, anyone can eat anything at any time. Sometimes dd decides randomly to make a pie, that's fine. DH will cook himself 6 sausages for lunch, again that's fine.

TheMonkeyMummy · 17/06/2018 12:16

This is hilarious!

Give over. Poor guy.

VladmirsPoutine · 17/06/2018 12:16

Some people have the most bizarre relationship of food. Food police types are the worst. I can't imagine my partner ever telling me that I'm "not allowed" to eat whatever I want for whatever meal I fancy.

I also struggle to understand some of the utter meltdowns that happen in some people's kitchens e.g. wife has planned spag bol for dinner; as enshrined in her meal planning calendar, husband decides around lunchtime to use the mince for wraps for lunch for the family, cue ensuing meltdown by wife and chorus of 'LTB' on Mumsnet. It's absurd.

TheQueef · 17/06/2018 12:18

My new ambition is to be a Sausage Emperor.
Beat the Mr Kim.

onalongsabbatical · 17/06/2018 12:18

KurriKurri as a gluten-freetarian I find your cake triggering. Please hide it. Grin

Daddystepdaddy · 17/06/2018 12:19

Let the man have his sausage butty! A grown man should be able to eat his own sausages for breakfast or lunch, especially on father's day!
Just get him to nip out and get a replacement pack. Or get your kids to get their own damn dinner if they come and go as they please.

AnnPerkins · 17/06/2018 12:20

Sausage emperors 😆

Purplefrogshoes · 17/06/2018 12:22

I had four gluten free chicken sausages for breakfast like a Queen 👸 YABU op Grin

Dobbythesockelf · 17/06/2018 12:23

Even if you are on a tight budget, a bag of frozen sausages will surely work out cheaper than fresh sausages split up and frozen.... then people can have sausages at lunchtime if they wish.

Birdsgottafly · 17/06/2018 12:25

I've just had a "No Bull Burger" for breakfast. That makes me a Duchess, they have a lot more fun than Queens.

Madonnasmum · 17/06/2018 12:26

Not King of the World. KING OF THE SAUSAGE!
OP you need to change your username fast. (Or buy more sausages).

TornFromTheInside · 17/06/2018 12:26

It wouldn't do any harm to ask if someone has plans for the sausages...
but at the same time, an adult should not have to be justifying a desire to eat a certain food from the fridge.

Both of you need to consider the needs of the sausage more and ask yourself if the sausage wants to be eaten or not.
