I read an article from his ex wife about his domestic violence towards her, and then read his Wiki page. I didn't realise his history of under age girls and abuse Shock.

I used to love his music, but according to his Wiki page Spotify, Apple etc won't advertise or play his music any more as his reputation is so terrible

You can't judge people in the past by modern standards. People used to rape their wives and smoke on the bus but both were legal then.

that's funny, I can very clearly remember discussing David Bowie's 'history with girls' on here when he died.

That’s good. There were obviously discussions I wasn’t seeing. There were lots I did see shut down.

Zibbido yes, I must admit it was something I'd heard of before. It did lead me to quite a lot of googling about it though.

Of course you can!! So Roman Polanski was okay drugging and sodomising a 13 year old girl 'cos it woz the old days'.

16 has been the age of consent for around 100 years. So your arguement is bollocks sorry.

'it was something I'd never heard of before'
Damn lack of edit function.

However because of America’s racial issues black devancey will always been seen as worse than when a white person dose it

Or an alternative view from Jim DeRogatis

DeRogatis has done a lot of thinking about not only why it's been so hard to bring R. Kelly to justice, but why the public has all but forgotten the terrible things Kelly has been accused of doing. His conclusion: "The saddest fact I've learned is nobody matters less to our society than young black women. Nobody."

When I was growing up I think I remember knowing about R Kelly yes.

But what I've never really understood is the deal with Roman Polanski. Years back when it was all in the news it was like it was all a big deal what he was accused of (of course) and I think he's admitted it hasn't be? It's a while since I've read about it. But it's like at the same time he seems to be quite highly thought of still and it's like people aren't bothered about what he's done? And he's still working and he's not been punished for it in the end? I couldn't get my head round this

noeffingidea · 16/06/2018 21:23

purpleme I think he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge then fled the country before he could serve his sentence. The victim no longer wants to pursue it, though more allegations have started to emerge.
As to why people think highly of him, you' d have to ask them. Whoopi Goldberg for one. I think he got a free pass for being a succesful director, his wife and unborn child being murdered and his family suffering in the holocaust. But it most likely just comes down to money and power in the end.

noeffingidea · 16/06/2018 21:28

Someone upthread mentioned the Rolling Stones and how they never went to jail. Mandy Smith didn't want to give evidence against Bill Wyman so there was no case. There doesn't seem to be any actual complaints made about any of the others.

R Kelly, or dirty twat as he's commonly known, is a nasty son of a bitch who got lucky in the recording industry giving him even more power do as he wished and get away with it. He's a known paedophile and keeps women under his control who won't leave him because of his "celebrity" status and take any amount of abound becausebof who he is. I wouldn't mind though he only had a few hits in the 90s. The police are well on to him now though and no one in the entertainment industry will ever touch him with two shitty sticks.

IsMyUserNameRubbish · 16/06/2018 21:36

Sorry that should be "any amount of abuse because of who he is"..........or was.

GabsAlot · 16/06/2018 21:41

mansy smiths parents should have been ashamed letting that carry on to their child

diddl · 16/06/2018 21:42

Didn't her mum marry his son?

Anon12345ABC · 16/06/2018 21:51

Blimey OP, have you been under a rock?

Sparklesanddiamomdsforever · 16/06/2018 22:35

Eyes well and truly opened! Shock

Surely it's only a matter of time before his downfall though.

@bananafish81 that's really sad, but obviously true Sad
