AIBU to be shocked about R Kelly?

I read an article from his ex wife about his domestic violence towards her, and then read his Wiki page. I didn't realise his history of under age girls and abuse Shock.

I used to love his music, but according to his Wiki page Spotify, Apple etc won't advertise or play his music any more as his reputation is so terrible

I think Nick Carter had a history of beating up women? Or a woman? Not entirely sure.

I agree about R Kelly, I thought that was a well known fact.

It's interesting that it's mentioned on his Wiki page.

Yet, David Bowie taking the virginity of a 14 year old and using underage groupies however he wanted, isn't on his page.

The media seemed to demonise who it suits.

i think personal conduct should be called out, of course and the person's career suffer as a consequence.

As far as I can find, Nick Carter is being investigated for a rape allegation. Nothing else to do with the BSB online anyway.

R Kelly is very well known. Some of his songs I really like but I have not been able to listen to them for years.

Not that it excuses anything he's done, but there is some pretty convincing circumstantial evidence that Nick Carter was sexually abused by former BSB manager Lou Perlman....

The R Kelly video (I think it's actually him peeing on an underage girl) has been around for ages.

It's been in the news for nearly 20 yrs.
Tbh nothing surprises me any more. Some of the stuff on gossip sites is bad, and it all seems to trickle out in time.

@Sparklesanddiamomdsforever when he was prosecuted in the US, there was video evidence of (allegedly) him and an underage girl. By the time it got to trial all of the girls family wouldn't say it was her, and he threw his brother under a bus and said it was the brother in the video. There was enough doubt that he wasn't found guilty. It's explained very well in the BBC programme.

John Peel didn:t appear to think there was anything wrong with his relationship with a 15 year old. And in the context of the times, it would be possible to argue that he was right.............Not an argument I would agree with, obviously. But our society appears to be happy with David Bowie, Polanski, Bill Wyman..... the list goes on.

Pretty sure r kelly did get prosecuted at some point for having sex with a minor but i think the story was he met her in a club and therefore couldnt know for sure she was underage. But that was obv a load of bull when you read up on him.

As for the BSB member...

On Wikipedia it said that his ex was convicted for having relations with a minor (as a teacher). But it didn't say anything about him being accused of rape...

(Maybe I'll need to Google it in English...)
