I took on the mantle to start another thread. If that is not allowed, Mods delete the thread, I am not sure of the protocol. But it certainly is an interesting discussion!

If allowed to stay as my OP, let's go!

OP posts:

successive governments failing to recognise shifting demographics and invest accordingly should take the blame. Same with social care

Not quite.... Labour invested in the NHS, as did previous Tory Governments, maybe not enough to give European standards of care. it is the current administration and austerity that has cause the issues we now see... however, there now going to be a £380m per week BREXIT BONUS to invest in the NHS... total bollocks according to MP Dr Sarah Wollaston.... i wonder how long she ll be a Tory?

KennDodd · 17/06/2018 19:52

I honestly believe that environmental concerns will be better dealt with as part of the EU. The current shower of shite are about profit only.

Completely agree. @GardenGeek An example of this would be to look at our beaches and bathing waters. The EU FORCED us to clean them, left to our own devices successive governments had done nothing. The same is happening at the ,moment with the quality of our air. Outside of the EU our governments can and will ignore problems such as this.

KennDodd · 17/06/2018 19:56

Oh and @GardenGeek

I'm really glad you're on this thread, loads of sensible Leavers have left (I think this was because eventually they were just proven wrong on things they believed about the EU). These threads can be real echo chambers though and there are some legitimate issues with the EU.

Itinerary · 17/06/2018 21:39

GardenGeek thank you for your excellent posts on this thread.

Itinerary · 17/06/2018 21:47

Kenn I don't think that's why leavers say less on here now. Much of how they think Brexit will benefit the UK won't happen until we finally escape from the EU. Until then, there's no purpose in re-hashing the same discussions.

Studyinghell · 17/06/2018 22:27

I’ve read both these threads plus many many more. All I see is remainers going on and on about the lies the press and Politicians told to secure a leave vote. I have not once heard any1 mention the lies and illagal acts that got us in the eu in the first place? I voted leave. I saw on tv today they estimate the cost of a new car will be up £1000 when we finally leave. Don’t people understand the cost of a new car means very little to us “poor/racist/thick” people. We’re too busy trying to get a half decent job to fit around the bus timetables and school run 🙄

JellyBears · 17/06/2018 22:39

Well I voted to leave...so yes perfectly ready thanks ;)

frumpety · 18/06/2018 06:24

The Government are saying that there are no economic benefits to leaving the EU, Theresa is trying to fund the NHS with a non existent Brexit dividend which even those in her own party describe as 'tosh'. So it will either be funded by reducing services ( a stealth tax for anyone requiring those services ) or by increasing taxes.

frumpety · 18/06/2018 06:32

Octopeppa , always ready to hear about the benefits of leaving the EU, remainers on here ask repeatedly for any evidence of it being in any way better than before the referendum because most people genuinely want it to be better and certainly not worse. Then we get told it will be worse and that is to be expected, initially it was worse for a couple of years, now we are told to look at the long term, so decades.

littlebillie · 18/06/2018 06:42

Studyinghell I think you are missing the point, we are all going to be poorer, for decades to come. Whether it's a car or your journey to work on the bus.

Studyinghell · 18/06/2018 07:20

I don’t think it’s going to be for decades. Brexit dividend In 2023/2024 once we’ve stopped paying in and “divorce”
@littlebillie yes everyone is going to be poorer, for a while. With at least hope of improvement. That’s the point. At the time of the in/out vote many people had no hope. The divide been rich and poor and the has never been so big. You can’t blame poorer people for voting out to try and improve their own life @ the risk to massive companies making millions.
Crap wages for a crap job with 50 people waiting to interview, to live in a crap house that you can’t affort to rent without assistance and only dream of buying. The silver lining now is once we’ve left, the book stops with OUR Government. They will be accountable with no1 else to blame. I can’t see the Tories winning another election after this either.

auntiebasil · 18/06/2018 07:47

I thought the might JC was going to improve all our lives. Why didn't Labour win at the last GE? Why didn't Labour sweep the Council elections.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/06/2018 07:52

You can’t blame poorer people for voting out to try and improve their own life @ the risk to massive companies making millions.

Thats capitalism. Brexit won't stop companies making millions and crap jobs existing. All of the UK's problems are home grown.

auntiebasil · 18/06/2018 07:59

If this was some sort of cry of pain by the poor, Why did they put "their" faith in rich posh people who are already selling all of us out before we've even left .

KennDodd · 18/06/2018 08:05

The divide been rich and poor and the has never been so big

And this is 100% down to our own governments. Do you really think this is because of the EU and NOT UK governments? Why are you letting them but the blame elsewhere? I have never believed gov lies seeking to blame others.

auntiebasil · 18/06/2018 08:08

If you think the financial divide was caused by the EU , you are not correct. A much greater divide in, e.g. the YS and Russia. Pretty sure neither of this countries is in the EU.
I'm being as polite as I can.

Studyinghell · 18/06/2018 08:08

i honestly think they didn’t win because of JC. I heard a lot of people change to green and tories because they don’t like him and/or his policies. I personally still voted labour, even though I don’t agree with a lot of his opinions, but that’s another thread 😂

No it won’t stop crap jobs existing, of course these jobs will always need doing, but hopefully it will stop us bringing in cheap labour to do them and these billionaire will have to pay a decent wage. And no I’m not against immigration full stop.

auntiebasil · 18/06/2018 08:08

US not YS Grin

auntiebasil · 18/06/2018 08:10

My mum was brought in as cheap labour in the 50s and lived and worked in conditions you can't imagine. No EU then.
It's capitalism. Get over it, move or fight against it.

Studyinghell · 18/06/2018 08:10

Yes I know it’s 100% down to our Government, but you complain, call your MP, and they pass the book. Now the book will stop with them.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/06/2018 08:11

but hopefully it will stop us bringing in cheap labour

There is now fruit rotting in fields because EU workers are going elsewhere and there is low unemployment rates so locals aren't bridging the gap. Brexit is a huge self inflicted wound. No good will come of it.

Applications for nursing from EU citizens was down 96% post referendum.

auntiebasil · 18/06/2018 08:11

The buck always did stop with them. I hope you didn't kid yourself like this when you voted.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/06/2018 08:13

Now the book will stop with them.

Naive. The only MP's that worry about losing their seat are generally the ones in marginal constituencies.

Studyinghell · 18/06/2018 08:27

And still not a single word on the fact we should never of even been in the eu 🙄

Low unemployment rates are a joke, they’re figured fudges by the tories. A 0 hour contract counts as being employed you know. The farmers will have to pay better then won’t they. The fruit got picked b4 eu workers did it. I remember pea picking myself. I remember my nan potato picking every year for Christmas money

And to the person up thread a couple of times asked about 10/15 even 20%. Yes if the leave box had asked on the paper do you vote to leave and pay extra % on imported produce. Still vote leave for me

Studyinghell · 18/06/2018 08:28

Naive. The only MP's that worry about losing their seat are generally the ones in marginal constituencies.

I’d say hopeful not naive
