To be excited about the World Cup starting!

I know FIFA and Russia and whoever is involved is horrible in some way... But it's the actual World Cup. Mexico v South Korea suddenly becomes hugely important to my life! England have a likeable squad and manager. Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar. Spain sacking their manager yesterday.

It's so exciting isn't it!

If England get far, I want them to get far because they've earned it, not because the opponents are soft.

I watched the Iceland - Croatia match, exciting but in the end Iceland just lacked quality. Croatia was impressive even with so many players rested.

Danny Murphy nearly wet himself when he heard Messi had scored, can't stand the man and his miserable commentary.

France v Argentina is a great second round match.

And it was a top goal. And hilarious to see how quickly they cut away from Diego on screen.

I'm glad Argentina are through. I think the tournament would have been poorer in the next round without them.

The knockout rounds will definitely be more exciting with the better quality teams that are playing. Looking forward to it!

Agree user the swift cut away was hilarious. If he has the Hand of god...maybe those were the fingers of Jesus? IDK. And maybe that was the elbow of the Holy Ghost during the handball var thing.

I was all “Go Super Eagles” til I found out Musa is a polygamist so that tempered my enthusiasm a bit.

You could see the determination in Messi’s face during the national anthems though. He was always going to pull out something special.

Be interesting if that half of the draw ends up with basically a Messi v Ronaldo quarter-final.

Uruguay look pretty formidable though, even if Suárez is a bit reluctant to pass to Cavani.

Hoping for Mexico to get at least a point today so Germany come second..... Then lets see how the Brazil group plays out! Who will want to top that one!?

Germany have never gone home after the group stage and have been in 16 consecutive world cups so these are big big games for all concerned!

the commentators are driving me mad

in the last German game they were going on about how useless Germany were and how they were likely to go out and I thought STOP SAYING THAT BEFORE THE FINAL WHISTLE and then of course they bloody scored

and they are only doing it again...! before you write them off, wait for the final whistle argh! I hate tempting fate!

I think If I have it right. If Mexico get a 1 goal against sweden and Germany win 1 - nil. It'll give the the same goal difference so it'll go down to fair play instead.
