Kids using my bedroom to take selfies

MrsDylanBlue · 10/06/2018 22:11

Not long been “allowed” to follow DD on Instagram.

Have previously had words with the kids using my bedroom (or really messy/needing decorating) parts of the house to take selfies to post online (my room has mirrored wardrobes floor to ceiling).

Mortified to see she has posted photo of herself - in my bedroom - and behind her in the mirror is a pile of clothes/underwear I haven’t put away and Durex Lube on the bedside table. Her father (we are divorced and have NC) and his wife have liked it.

Joking aside I find this REALLY bloody intrusive having the inside of my BEDROOM plastered all over the bloody internet. AngryHmmShock

Did you have a fish slice out with the lube?

What am I missing here?!

Lube for hair? I’m frankly willing to try anything on my curls. Gets out lube

MrsDylanBlue · 12/06/2018 19:31

asked NOT to

Don’t understand why people are having a go at the op! What do you mean ‘parent her ‘ ? The daughter is sneaking into her mums room to use the mirror not letting her sell crack !
Op I would tell her under no circumstances is she to be taking photos in your room and I’d maybe get a lock for your bedroom door

Shockers · 12/06/2018 19:48

What’s the difficulty with understanding that a person’s bedroom is private? If the OP wanted to turn it into a sex dungeon, it’s her space to do that.

parentin · 12/06/2018 20:07

I don't think sex is a dirty secret but I don't think your kids whatever the age needs to know you had sex the night before or going to tonight. I'm close to my kids we talk about it and I also provide them with condoms. Have ever have you considered thst lack of boundaries in one area leads to lack of boundaries in others

MrsDylanBlue · 12/06/2018 21:14

Tell me what the lack of boundaries is here? The boundary is “don’t go into my bedroom without permission please” that doesn’t say to me that I have to put all my personal effects away.

I don’t really know what you want people to say. You know your kids go in, you know they take selfies so your options are to lock the door or place items in drawers out of sight.

What else do you want people to say?

MrsDylanBlue · 12/06/2018 21:22

I wasn’t looking for options. I was just having a rant.

Kids do things that piss you off sometimes end of.

Like, salmon?

MrsDylanBlue · 12/06/2018 22:33

It’s so wonderful that something positive has come out of this 😂

It is tricky when someone asks what I use on my hair
"No shampoo, just conditioner. Two full handfuls of gel, two handfuls of mousse, oh and some lube" Grin

MrsDylanBlue · 12/06/2018 22:38

My youngest son is mixed race and has an Afro - how do I suggest this to him without having totally out of control kids with no boundaries?! 😂😂

Ollivander84 · 12/06/2018 22:40

Send him to the curly crew group on Facebook Grin

MrsDylanBlue · 12/06/2018 22:46

God I so need to - he has ASD and has refused a cut for 6 years Wine

Just embrace it. Lube on its own shelf. Dot loads of cryptic objects around the place for ex and his gf to spot - pliers, bowler hat, skis.

BustopherJones · 12/06/2018 23:00

I’ve already told you the solution, yet you ignore it!

Floating shelf. Pile of books. Succulent. Lube.

It’s not hard!

MrsDylanBlue · 12/06/2018 23:08

MrsDylanBlue I see your next AIBU thread as titled: “AIBU to put lube on DS’s head?”

bemusedmoose · 13/06/2018 12:13

Go in their room when it's a tip and personal stuff is out, take your own selfie, preferably with a stupid face on and caption it 'chillin in her name' s room* and tag them.

..... Pretty sure that wont do it again! 😂
