Kids using my bedroom to take selfies

MrsDylanBlue · 10/06/2018 22:11

Not long been “allowed” to follow DD on Instagram.

Have previously had words with the kids using my bedroom (or really messy/needing decorating) parts of the house to take selfies to post online (my room has mirrored wardrobes floor to ceiling).

Mortified to see she has posted photo of herself - in my bedroom - and behind her in the mirror is a pile of clothes/underwear I haven’t put away and Durex Lube on the bedside table. Her father (we are divorced and have NC) and his wife have liked it.

Joking aside I find this REALLY bloody intrusive having the inside of my BEDROOM plastered all over the bloody internet. AngryHmmShock

It takes two seconds to put the lube in a drawer, your kids don’t need to see that.

MrsDylanBlue · 10/06/2018 23:24

FASH84

No all the BDSM stuff IS in the drawer 😂😂

Hmmmm I’m quite likely to do something similar to their room if I felt that they would be bothered about the world seeing it. Other than that I might dig out an old embarrassing photo - maybe from her school days ( before she got her expensive braces) - take a picture of it or scan it and send it to her with a suitable threat that the whole world will see it if she doesn’t remove her selfie and stop invading your space. Be prepared to follow through with your threat!!!

FASH84 · 10/06/2018 23:26

@MrsDylanBlue 😂 I've never seen or heard adults so offended by lube before!

MrsDylanBlue · 10/06/2018 23:27

FASH84

I know 😂😂

You know they go into your bedroom. Just put it in the drawer.

I have no judgment in having lube etc, but does it really need to be on display?

BadTasteFlump · 10/06/2018 23:28

Sounds like you're creating a drama for the sake of it tbh. Why can't you keep your lube in a drawer or something? Is it ornamental? Yes it's your room but why have sex aids on display Confused

And how can your mirror be 'better'? Don't they all just reflect or is it a magic one? Get a decent mirror and put it in a communal area - the hallway, bathroom, whatever.

But then of course you'll have to find something else to make a drama out of Grin

bonnyshide · 10/06/2018 23:30

Put your lube in the drawer and pick your dirty knickers up off the floor. Problem solved.

MrsDylanBlue · 10/06/2018 23:30

ITS NOT ON DISPLAY!!

It’s in my room - the room they have been asked not to go into.

I threatened to leave a vibrator lying around and DD said “there’s always lube lying around anyway”.

You don't have a lube problem. Who gives a shit where you keep it?
You have a disrespectful child problem. Been asked to stay out your room? Do it. End of.

Nicknacky · 10/06/2018 23:31

So put a lock on your door. Problem solved.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 10/06/2018 23:32

Why the fuck should the OP hide her lube? It's her room, not a common area and her ADULT daughter shouldn't be in there. It's not up to the OP to force boundaries to a 18yo, that child is more than old enough to understand and respect boundaries.

Quite honestly OP I'd leave porn and a massive vibrator on the bed next time, freak her out a bit, that'll learn her Grin

Littlechocola · 10/06/2018 23:32

Why should she have to put it away? It’s her bloody room!

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 10/06/2018 23:34

Have to say, this thread is bonkers

Turn the WiFi off when you go out.

Yeah because modern technology is so alien to 19yo girls 🙄

DoJo · 10/06/2018 23:35

Do you not have some embarrassing pictures of them when they were younger that you can use as collateral?

BadTasteFlump · 10/06/2018 23:37

Personally I like my room to look stylish and pretty - lube on the bedside table wouldn't really match my decor Smile

I have drawers for personal stuff. Tbh, going to bed in an untidy room with piles of clothes and random crap lying around would put me right off - maybe that's why you need the lube OP Grin

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 10/06/2018 23:38

And how can your mirror be 'better'?

To a teenage girl wanting a really good selfie, a floor to ceiling mirror elongates their body and probably shows of their bum well, and this is likely why the picture was taken in front of OP's mirror (depressing I know).

KilledByHerOwnCardigan · 10/06/2018 23:38

Post in response, "Honey, why is your lube in the photo?"

If you can't beat 'em, embarrass them.

MrsDylanBlue · 10/06/2018 23:38

TBF this phot was taken a few months ago and DD has moved out since then (I have posted about this it’s all difficult and complicated) and I want to ask her to remove it but it’s tricky atm as our remains rather “rocky”.

I don’t really feel I want to start putting locks on doors in my home.

OP posts:
MrsDylanBlue · 10/06/2018 23:39

It was a pile of clothes on my bed that needed to be put away.

CaledonianQueen · 10/06/2018 23:40

Perhaps a notice on the door/wall saying

‘Management does not give you permission to use this bedroom as your personal photography studio. Should this continue I will be forced to take photographs of your filthy underwear/unmade beds/you with your head over the toilet vomiting, on your personal Instagram and Facebook walls. If you continue to disrespect my personal space, I will start to share your most embarrassing photos from childhood, alongside endearing stories of your most embarrassing moments.

In other words KEEP OUT!

P.s Management reserves the right to change the WiFi password!

Nicknacky · 10/06/2018 23:40

So photo was months ago? When did you find out about it?

MrsDylanBlue · 10/06/2018 23:41

A few months ago like two months.

I saw it tonight.
