to wonder what it is about George and Amal that irritates me so much (lighthearted - a bit)

Is it their wealth? Their good looks? Their success in their high profile careers? Their lavish homes in Berkshire, Italy and somewhere in America?

Or are they smug, sanctimonious, hypocritical and annoying?

I love Amal, find her completely inspirational. I am convinced GC is gay tho, I don’t understand their relationship.

isthismummy · 08/06/2018 10:38

I like Amal, but that marriage is so clearly a sham. GC is not interested in women.

She annoys me a little too. She thinks she's it and I'm well aware that she is it and more!

MrsJayy · 08/06/2018 10:42

Amal is inspirational but they are smugger than smuggy things bless them they are rather fond of themselves Grin oh and I didn't like Amal's Royal wedding outfit I hate mustard it looks like poop

TumbleTussocks · 08/06/2018 10:42

longlostpal - what do you find inspirational about Amal? I used to like the way she smiled at the paparazzi, like she accepted that was part of the package that came with being Mrs Clooney but ... now she seems just too attention seeking - she's becoming an Oxbridge Kardashian.

Ooh wow good goss karyatid.

longlostpal · 08/06/2018 10:43

I’m a barrister too so I stupidly like to see someone doing my profession in the most glamourous way possible!

derxa · 08/06/2018 10:43

Yes.

MrsJayy · 08/06/2018 10:47

I actually like them but they remind me of those old hollywood couples when he was gay and married off to a very glam lady they are very over the top when they are out and about 😀

MuddyForestWalks · 08/06/2018 10:47

Christ that speech is sick making. Also, her dress is terrible. As for their marriage, my 1yo kisses his dad with more enthusiasm than they display in that fake kid. How long until she's allowed to divorce him?

MrsJayy · 08/06/2018 10:52

I reckon he is planning to run for president I don't think they will divorce any time soon

Eatalot · 08/06/2018 10:55

Lethaldrizzle iv not heard anyone say that since 1998. Love it. She does think she is it. She probaby is.

TumbleTussocks · 08/06/2018 11:00

They are the ultimate figjam (fuck I'm good - just ask me) couple.

There was a moment at the Royal Wedding when he very subtly stroked her arm, and it was behind her back (and her back was to the empty pews) - they wouldn’t have been conscious of the cameras picking it up at that point and I think it seemed genuine.

Growingboys · 08/06/2018 11:08

They are unreasonably irritating.

YANBU

DragonsAndCakes · 08/06/2018 11:09

I’m wondering if it’s a fake marriage.
Every single time they kiss she’s got her hands on his face. I just googled. It seems a bit unnatural or like she’s read what looks intimate.
However he was married before, between 89-93, which muddies the gay argument.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 08/06/2018 11:11

I think MrsJayy has it bang-on and he's going to step towards politics at some point within the next five years, so the realist in me sees that having an intelligent, decent, high-achieving wife by his side will help with his ratings.

But then, perhaps he simply loves her and we're just cynical and a teensy bit jealous.

morningconstitutional2017 · 08/06/2018 11:11

I simply can't understand why so much fuss is made about him - he isn't that good looking. A lot of things aren't what they're cracked up to be and this is yet another.

BestIsWest · 08/06/2018 11:13

I noticed the arm stroking at the Royal Wedding too and also thought it looked genuine.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 08/06/2018 11:14

I like her. She’s smart and sophisticated . I couldn’t care either way about him but it makes him seem pretty reasonable in that she likes him and he sees a woman like her as the ideal woman. It’s all about her. I’d be smug too. Smug in Como.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 08/06/2018 11:15

Oh great President Geordie Hmm If it is a sham, why would a woman do that? And bring kids into It? I hope it's true though, I love a good conspiracy theory Grin

Serial123 · 08/06/2018 11:16

I read a scathing piece, think it was in the Times, about the Clooneys and their "pet" refugee. Because I think Amal brought her along to the Vogue interview and then it was all about clothes and her relationship with George and nothing about Nadia, the refugee.

JustGettingStarted · 08/06/2018 11:16

It ain't smug if it's justified.

Fuckedoffat48b · 08/06/2018 11:18

I think it is the over the top adoration. At the wedding she looked like an attractive, tall thin woman in a very nice dress. That was it.

But the papers treated it like it was the second coming.
