In Connecticut, two teenage boys who identify as girls have come 1st and 2nd in the girls' 100m sprint

Reposted from Feminism Chat as more people need to see this.

Neither Miller nor Yearwood have got times that would be remotely remarkable for boys (200th and 443rd respectively) but they are smashing the girls' records out of the park as now they identify as girls, they're allowed to race them instead.

Watch the face of the girl who comes third. That's pretty much her best ever 100m race. But she didn't win.

Self identification means this kind of thing will keep on happening. If you value women's sport and think that women and girls deserve to compete on a level playing field, please sign the petition: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/214118

Oleanas I expect they're just not identifying as winners hard enough.

Contact sports...

It's already happening...

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/transgender-female-boxer-gives-female-opponent-concussion-breaks-her-eye-so

Start of the article below:

Transgender mixed martial arts (MMA) competitor Fallon Fox is facing new criticisms after breaking the eye socket of his last opponent.

On Saturday, Fox defeated Tamikka Brents by TKO at 2:17 of the first round of their match. In addition to the damaged orbital bone that required seven staples, Brents received a concussion. In a post-fight interview this week, she told Whoa TV that "I've never felt so overpowered ever in my life."

“I’ve fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night. I can’t answer whether it’s because [he] was born a man or not, because I’m not a doctor,” she stated. “I can only say, I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life, and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right. ”

His “grip was different,” she added. “I could usually move around in the clinch against...females but couldn’t move at all in Fox’s clinch.”

There are a lot of people on this thread who are coming up against this issue for the first time, and (unsurprisingly) are saying "WTF?".

The solution to the issue has then frequently been "offer a trans category".

Do you all realize that that "solution" is seen as transphobic in the extreme by this group, as you are not recognising their acquired gender, and 'othering' them? The ONLY acceptable solution in this group of people's minds is unquestioning, entire acceptance of them as their preferred gender. i.e. Those two individuals in 1st and 2nd place are girls in every possible sense. They won their girl's race far and square and to even question that is offensive.

If you don't believe that to be true, fair or right, then I am afraid you will be classed as transphobic. Welcome to the club.

Just looked up Beth Jones and read some of their reports - this is what’s being pushed now as shown by this case in the US. These articles also backs this new goal.

midnightmisssuki · 11/06/2018 20:29

how is this even possible or allowed? Surely they are still recognised as boys? Poor girls. I hope this doesn't happen in the UK. I used to run and would be heartbroken if i was this race!

There should be a different type of race for people who identify as another gender? I dont know what the right answer is, but its not this.

loveyouradvice · 11/06/2018 21:27

midnightmissuki this is beginning to happen in the Uk ... Sussex recommends that trans-children (i.e. just identifying as such as can't have transitioned by then) play in the sport of their "new gender" and that those (e.g. girls) who are uncomfortable about that are found a new sport to play - I think it is "Allsorts" guidance... terrifying....

Fine for boys and girls to mix until 8 or so... after that single SEX has to be the way to go....

And terrifying to think of the injuries that are to come in contact sports - and some brave women have already received....

Hygge · 11/06/2018 21:39

I realise this isn't about sport but as this issue seems to be a new thing for some people posting here I thought I would share.

I've just read that Twitter is upholding complaints and deleting Tweets that dead name Ian Huntley, who is now apparently a woman named Lian (or possibly Nicola).

People cannot say on Twitter that his victims were murdered by a man named Ian, even though he committed the crimes as a man named Ian and was convicted as a man named Ian.

They must say that those girls were murdered by a woman who now 'deserves' to be in a women's prison.

Voice0fReason · 11/06/2018 23:10

I guarantee that we will never see the day when a trans man excels in any men's sport.

Andrewofgg · 12/06/2018 09:40

The story about Huntley appears to be tabloid gossip from some years ago. If he wants to use a female forename and wear a dress and buy cosmetics with his earnings I don’t care. He does not appear to have asked for a transfer to a women’s prison where he might get torn to shreds.

Magpiesarehuge · 12/06/2018 10:01

I don’t buy the Huntley story as being reported - what is interesting is it brings out folks views on how far they support the more extreme demands/agenda.

SecretSantaaaaaa · 12/06/2018 10:16

Signed. Fucking ridiculous

TimeLady · 12/06/2018 12:04

Interesting research opportunitites on the Loughborough university site:

One of the most influential, powerful and visible institutions upholding the gender binary is sport – where participation is predominantly segregated by biological sex, rooted in the widely-held beliefs about fairness and the biological advantages associated with being male. Such beliefs are over-simplistic, legitimise discrimination, and hinder the sports participation of transgender (intersex, trans, non-binary) individuals. With the rapidly growing societal visibility of transgender people, there is an unprecedented need to address areas where discrimination may arise.

The newly formed Gender and Sport Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT), led by Dr Gemma Witcomb in the School of Sport Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS), is recruiting five highly motivated PhD students to explore the current and changing landscape of sports participation for transgender adults and children and recommend changes to promote inclusive participation.

The studentship provides a tax free stipend of £14,777 per year for three years

so 5 x £14,777 x 3 = £221,655

That's a lot of funding......

Pratchet · 12/06/2018 12:07

Wasted

Andrewofgg · 12/06/2018 12:17

And I wonder what will happen if one of these students writes a thesis establishing that separation by biological sex is essential to the promotion of sport to women and to their physical safety?

NotBadConsidering · 12/06/2018 12:19

It won't get published.

Pratchet · 12/06/2018 12:22

It will get published because it will compare weak males to strong female, fudge about a bit on hormones and talk about young transition rendering physical difference minimal.

NotBadConsidering · 12/06/2018 12:33

I mean it won't get published it it shows what Andrewofgg suggests.

Andrewofgg · 12/06/2018 12:43

Oh NotBadConsidering how can you be so cynical? Next you will be suggesting that the student won’t get the PhD!

caringcarer · 12/06/2018 12:44

As now so many more transgenders about it would be better to have either a separate category for them or they take testosterone suppressing hormones. Women should not miss out on fair competition. I have signed petition and dh has too.

TimeLady · 12/06/2018 12:47

The Paralympics and Invictus Games shows what can be achieved. That's the way to achieve respect.

Andrewofgg · 12/06/2018 13:02

caringcarer Separate categories are only possible where there are enough people concerned - and if there aren’t it’s JTB. Testosterone suppression is not completely effective.

GrumbleBumble · 12/06/2018 13:13

My husband was 6'4" when I first met him - he was 17. Suppressing his testosterone wouldn't negate the advantage he would have when it came to competing against women and it certainly wouldn't make it safe for women to play rugby against him. Identifying doesn't change biology. I could decide to identify as an owl but it wouldn't make me able to fly!

SuitedandBooted · 12/06/2018 13:45

Girls who don't want to lose to boys need TO FIND ANOTHER SPORT!! Angry

Advise from Allsorts to schools in SUSSEX

In Connecticut, two teenage boys who identify as girls have come 1st and 2nd in the girls' 100m sprint
Andrewofgg · 12/06/2018 13:50

Chess? Sudoku?

Ffs. What will be left?

In the case of the Californian teenagers I blame the parents more than the lads who are probably just catspaws.

Hygge · 12/06/2018 14:07

AndrewOfOgg It's more Twitter angle that I was looking at.
