I think they are ugly and make women/girls look ridiculous. AIBU?

ferrier

I said your comment about shaving making you feel more feminine was silly, and you asked why.

Well, it's because adult women have hair on their bodies. So how can removing a thing that all women have make you feel more like a female person? Doesn't make sense.

That men, by and large, have more hair is irrelevant really.

Gwenhwyfar · 03/06/2018 12:38

Women wearing heels has inconvenienced me from time e.g. having to take a taxi because they couldn't walk properly.

Gwenhwyfar · 03/06/2018 12:40

"Yanbu and i think some women think men thinks it's sexy. I have asked numerous men and every reply was "we don't care"."

It can be subconscious for some men and it's also the effect on the body (walking with a wiggle etc.) rather than the actual shoes.

So all the miles of coverage in the media, the threads on here, the posters on this very thread talking about how u attractive body hair in a woman is..............

It isn't. Perhaps what is meant is if a woman is significantly hairy, and has male type body hair then perhaps it is seen as unusual, because biologically it is indeed unusual.

BertrandRussell · 03/06/2018 13:03

Oh Kitten. You honestly can't believe that women can go out any about with hairy armpits and nobody will even notice??

KittenBeast · 03/06/2018 13:10

Oh, Bert, I can, because I did it last week, in a strappy top, do you know who gave a shit? Absolutely nobody. Do you know who said anything? Absolutely nobody? Do you know who went home and wrote a Facebook status about how they'd seen a woman in town with hairy pits with a little vom emoji? Most likely absolutely nobody. For a start, I don't shove wave my arms about so my pits are on show. Does anyone?

Xenia · 03/06/2018 13:12

I haven't shaved unde rmy arms since last year. Not an issue at all. Also I couldn't care less what people think if they were to be staring at my arm pits. They are usually staring at my large breasts anyway.... the bane of my life but that's another story.

KittenBeast · 03/06/2018 13:13

Of course, I can't say nobody noticed, but noticing isn't the issue. There are hundreds of things you can notice about another human being.

brizzledrizzle · 03/06/2018 13:38

Maybe women do think that, maybe I am judged for not shaving my legs but I couldn't give a flying fuck what they think. When you look like the back end of a bus anyway, what does it matter if it is with or without hairy legs?

Raven88 · 03/06/2018 13:40

Some people look great in heels but I just look stupid because I can't walk in them. I'm also really tall. I don't agree completely.

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/06/2018 13:41

I tried heels and the dress looked great - so I went for the heels. The heels got kicked off once the dancing started, if I recall!!!!

Ah right then, by your own admission YABU OP. High heels are not ugly and make women/girls look ridiculous, because you felt they were needed to make your choice of frock look great.

RoseWhiteTips · 03/06/2018 13:45

Thought this thread was about high heels? And now - surprise - body hair is being discussed. Again.

I dislike heels - I like pointy flats or classy patent flats.

I dislike body hair too and cannot imagine not getting rid.

RoseWhiteTips · 03/06/2018 13:47

Hairy legs are so easy to deal with. No matter what you look like, it suggests you care about your appearance and make an effort.

RoseWhiteTips · 03/06/2018 13:48

If you remove it daily.

lljkk · 03/06/2018 13:49

I can't see any hair to remove if I tried daily. Confused

MrMeSeeks · 03/06/2018 13:51

So op high heels are ugly if they’re over 3inches, if they're under thats ok? They’re not ugly and hideous then? Hmm
Im sure some people would say 3inches would be too tall for them.

MrMeSeeks · 03/06/2018 13:52

Yep, the dress looked great with heels ( but only because they were 3inches, anything bigger would have been ugly Grin)

MadeleineMaxwell · 03/06/2018 14:04

I can say with some degree of certainty that nobody is going to give a flying fuck.

Me too. Maybe not slebs on the red carpet, I remember Julia Roberts doing it a while back and it being everywhere, but your average woman on the average street? No fucker cares. I do it all the time. I'm even off to Spain later in the year and am staying fuzzy. I anticipate nobody even looking at me funny. If they do, they'll get a big cheesy grin off me and that'll be the end of it. The only people who care enough to comment in said average street are teenagers, and who cares what they think about your personal appearance?

RoseWhiteTips Hairy legs are so easy to deal with. No matter what you look like, it suggests you care about your appearance and make an effort.

Maybe for you. Try any kind of hair removal with sensitive skin: shaving leaves a rash, Veet et al leave a rash, epilators leave a rash and ingrown hairs, waxing leaves a rash and laser is out of most people's budgets. So I can either have normal hairy legs or bright red bumpy itchy ones. Which one suggests I made an effort? Why should I make an effort in the first place?

TSSDNCOP · 03/06/2018 14:13

Xenia if you think that a nifty little fur border round your bikini knicks will set it off, then you go girl.

I can tell you categorically this would not work for me, but then my pubes are about 3 feet long so it’s less about social norms and more about the practicality of sweeping sand across other beach goers Grin It would certainly not set off my lovely new bikini.

TSSDNCOP · 03/06/2018 14:22

might have been mentioned - but it was horrible to see poor meghan lumbering up the steps at windsor due to awful shoes.

I think this is an absolute reach, I’ve watched that wedding about a dozen times now at no point was she lumbering. She went up those steps and down the aisle like she was on wheels.

As to the engagement photos, I’d punt that was when she realised point heels and flagstone pavements are not mutually compatible. Disappearing down a crack and having to have your betrothed hoick your foot out is a lesson we’ve all learned the hard way.

brizzledrizzle · 03/06/2018 14:31

If I plait the hair on my legs then does that mean that I've made an effort because I care about my appearance?

BertrandRussell · 03/06/2018 14:33

“Hairy legs are so easy to deal with. No matter what you look like, it suggests you care about your appearance and make an effort.”

I rest my case.

RebelRogue · 03/06/2018 14:39

@RoseWhiteTips made an effort for whom?
