DHs eating

endoftether82 · 29/05/2018 21:31

DH has 3 diners everyday. The first will be a proper meal, say spaghetti bolognese, he will also polish off the children's meals if there's any leftovers - often before they've even said they're finished. Second meal will be some kind of sandwich, so tonight it was turkey and avocado, other times it might be peanut butter and banana. He will then finish with a massive bowl of cereal.

Full disclosure, he does walk 6 miles a day. However, he always has a hearty canteen lunch (massive portions). I know this because he frequently instagrams his work meals. He also tells are children about them when he get home and they often involve puddings like profiteroles or crumble.

He's a perfectly healthy size. But aibu to think this is unusual behaviour. He's just had a go at me because I raised my eyebrows when he was pouring out his massive bowl of Cheerios.

I mean, he's like 40 years past playgroup age, but we all know how damaging that once weekly biscuit is.
That's why when I took Dd, I took her my own snack of quinoa mulch, just once a month though, which was still bad as we know, "nobody should snack ever".

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 31/05/2018 14:50

Brillo, indeed. I have a Tomato Leaf candle that I have ten inhalations of - maybe once a week. That keeps me going. Food is rated too highly by so many people unable to control hunger pangs.

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/05/2018 14:54

Ten, ten, fucking ten.
I could feed myself and my entire town on ten inhilations of tomato candle a week.
You're such a glutton, bet you have stomach overhang.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 31/05/2018 15:02

ShockBlushSad :(

It's also a Jo Malone one so even more calorific.:(

Halo
IHaveBrilloHair · 31/05/2018 15:08

Good, but make sure it's carb free of course.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 31/05/2018 15:22

I will! I'll take the wick out to make damn sure too...

Magpie24 · 31/05/2018 15:23

How much does he weigh?

expatinscotland · 31/05/2018 17:04

'How much does he weigh?'

Yeah, put him on the scales and come and tell the class! Hmm

expatinscotland · 31/05/2018 17:06

A Jo Malone?! Lying, how could you? Don't you know that Aldi sells less calorific candles? Of course, they don't come with that cat-o'-nine tails you need to whip yourself for overindulging, more's the pity. No one NEEDS that much candle! It's just excessive candle snacking.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 31/05/2018 17:13

I know, expat, pure gluttony . I've reverted to plain (poundland) tealights now so possibly my sinful over-consuming behaviour can be forgiven.

The JM Tomato Leaf is possibly the strongest candle I've ever smelt. Overpowering in fact. I wonder if I've woefully underestimated the calories for MFP? Shock

Any good stockists that you know of for aforesaid cat-o'-nine tails? Needs to be extra pain-delivering, what with all this greedy, debauched behaviour...

expatinscotland · 31/05/2018 17:26

MIL gave me the Aldi JM Lime Basil rip off candle. I shall burn it in atonement for your gluttony, Lying. I'd send you my own whip, but I use it so often for my eating and drinking sins, I'm afraid it would be a health hazard so I'll just whip myself for you. Grin

I have a bought a number of the Aldi candles, too, to give as gifts to people in the US where I will visit in July, I'll make sure we light them in church Wink.

Rainydaydog · 31/05/2018 17:30

You do realise that if the Dh does need to lose the overhang he will just eat 1 less biscuit and a slightly smaller bowl of cereal each day and the weight will just fall off him in a few weeks. Angry

DeadGood · 31/05/2018 17:37

“He's a six foot one bloke!
That's not three dinners. It's a main meal, snack and I guess a pudding.
You wouldn't expect hi to eat the same as you?”

I’m afraid I don’t understand this attitude. I know a guy who says similar things - “I’m a big guy!!” if ever questioned about the huge amounts he eats.

I am 5’7” - six inches shorter than the OP’s husband. I really don’t understand how those 6 inches equate to him needing to eat three times as much as I do.

Wildlingofthewest · 31/05/2018 17:55

My husband is 6’4 and works a manual job for 12hrs a day. He has an evening meal at around 7.30pm and occasionally we will share dessert or he will have a few bits of cheese but he wouldn’t have a massive sandwich and then a bowl of cereal after every evening meal.
It sounds like it’s a bad habit - he can’t possibly feel real hunger every evening.
Nicking off the kids plates is just plain greed and just bad manners.

Bluntness100 · 31/05/2018 17:55

To be honest, I think a lot of men eat like this. He's not getting enough at dinner to sustain him. So I think bigger portions are in order.

mimibunz · 31/05/2018 17:57

Worall Grin

Rainydaydog · 31/05/2018 17:58

Deadgood you will need roughly 800 calories less per day to maintain your weight than a 6'1 man depending on how active you both are.
My maintenance calories at my goal weight are even lower as I am only 5'0 so he can have over 1400cals a day more than me Angry

mimibunz · 31/05/2018 18:00

Might want to head count the children every morning.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 31/05/2018 18:29

Not too hard now, expat, lest you get some enjoyment from that. Can't have that, you know. Shock

I'm unlucky with my local Aldi. The candles sell out very quickly in my local one and I've never even managed to smell one... probably snaffled and buried in the deepest landfill by those who wish to thwart those of us who would manage to glean a tallow calorie or two...

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 31/05/2018 18:29

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Passthecake30 · 31/05/2018 21:28

rainy that's interesting. How much more do I need (6ft) compared to say, a 5ft4 person doing the same job and exercise? As I am often told I "eat all day"... some ammunition would be good!

Rainydaydog · 31/05/2018 21:49

Passthecake looks like you will only need about 300 calories more than them. If you are both about average weight for height (140lbs and 160lbs) and both do light exercise they would need about 1850 to maintain but you would need 2150. Mine is 1550! The 6'1 man (with overhang) I guessed to be heavier at 200lb and moderate exercise (as OP said he walks 6 miles a day) so he needed 2900.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 31/05/2018 21:52

I'm 5'2. Why am I always hungry?

Passthecake30 · 31/05/2018 21:54

rainy, thanks, explains a lot!

Well if the OPs does need 2900 has anyone attempted to add up his calories?

Rainydaydog · 31/05/2018 21:55

I don't think hunger always matches up with maintenance calories!
