AIBU to return the massive stash of porn I just found in the house I just bought?

Just moved into a house, it has been a feat of endurance not made easier by the extremely uncooperative seller. The family wanted to exchange early, set a date to move that was extremely inconvenient. We made arrangements to move on that day, called in favours and spent money to move on that day and then they changed it to a day four days later that was even more inconvenient. They knew we were desperate to move and took advantage.

So we moved in today and when we were going round the house we found a huge stash of frankly filthy porn in the fitted wardrobe of the bedroom that was occupied by the 12 year old son.

I have just had a text off the estate agent saying that the seller has left a le creuset pot in the oven and could we leave it with a neighbour for them to collect. AIBU to put the le creuset pot in a box surrounded by the porn videos and leave it at the neighbors?

Brought means to bring.

Bought means to buy.

When we moved into our house years ago, we found a massive stash of porn behind the bath panel.
Dozens of magazines, sex toys, everything. We just binned it - it would have felt wrong to return it and deliberately humiliate them.
OP - I think you should bin it. Don’t try to embarrass/ humiliate the other family by returning it to them with le creuset bits - it feels a bit mean to me.

TrudeauGirl · 31/05/2018 09:00

Just throw it away, even if they've been awkward with selling, there's no need to embarrass them like that. Be the bigger person and throw them away, it wouldn't be kind to embarrass them.

ShirleyPhallus · 31/05/2018 09:08

I'm sure she did not bring a house on the premises

Grin👏🏼

Joey7t8 · 31/05/2018 09:27

Just bin it or discreetly return it in a taped up box, and then get on with enjoying your life in your new house.

I can’t understand the glee at deliberately humiliating someone just because they’ve enjoyed a bit of adult entertainment in the past.

I can’t understand the glee at deliberately humiliating someone just because they’ve enjoyed a bit of adult entertainment in the past.

Exactly this, it's not the most shameful thing in the world. Just throw it away and give back the pot without saying anything.

My Grandad saw John Major in Tesco.

TWICE.

QuimReaper · 31/05/2018 11:33

Oh, um... Wrong thread...

QuimReaper · 31/05/2018 11:39

WhatshallIdonow was quoting an earlier post!

(That was for Rebel and Agatha)

Mousefunky · 31/05/2018 11:59

I would have kept the pot and chucked the videos in all honesty.

Arf at people suggesting they are the twelve year olds. I’d be surprised if a 12 year old knew what a video even was let alone how to work a video player Grin.

You know you don't have to move in the day the sellers move out. We moved in more than a week later.

Also what the h.. is so funny with a lock on the main bedroom's door? Do only dirty people have sex? Is it normal to want your children to catch you in the act? What is weird is to find it amusing that a bedroom door has a lock.

WindAndWuthering · 31/05/2018 17:33

Personally I think leaving a stash of porn behind for other people to find is thoughtless and inconsiderate at best, gross and exhibitionist at worst. Yeah lots of people look at porn, but that doesn't mean other people want to be confronted with your wank material in their house. It's like leaving a fat stinking shit in the toilet. I don't know why people are telling the OP not to embarrass the person who left the porn there - if they felt embarrassed about their porn habit they could have, ooh, I dunno, perhaps disposed of it discreetly and not left it for someone else to clear up?

adayatthebeach · 31/05/2018 17:36

Just don’t bother and keep the pot. If they want it let them come get it. Don’t you have enough to do without concerning yourself with this? Moving just about kills me.

AnneProtheroe · 31/05/2018 18:41

My only thought is the first impression of your family that you'll be giving your new neighbours. Hmm

You have to live there.

Aridane · 31/05/2018 19:20

Mildly amusing vendors left behind some vintage porn. But really - just quit with the drama, solicitors letter, dumping it on the neighbors

randomchap · 31/05/2018 19:29

Was it hidden well enough to have been from the previous occupiers?

Usernameunknown2 · 31/05/2018 20:21

Grim. Id burn them in the pot.

JohnHunter · 01/06/2018 00:08

Some people in this thread are lacking a sense of humour. Why should this cause anyone more than a little embarrassment? I like the idea of asking your solicitor to send a note to theirs - wonderful.

liverbird10 · 01/06/2018 00:32

This is hilarious!

JJS888 · 01/06/2018 05:24

Really, really unkind. As long as it's legal, who wants to humiliate a stranger like that. Don't be so horrible, save your contempt for people who deserve it.

Monty27 · 01/06/2018 05:35

Oh fgs OP get over yourself. It's embarrassing yes but why dwell on it? You won't be the first or last to find objectionable stuff in a house you have moved into. Just get rid and make yourself busy with making it your own home.

Bettyfood · 01/06/2018 05:53

FFS. The grubby wankers. Sounds like they are due a bit of embarrassment, OP.

Bettyfood · 01/06/2018 06:06

Exactly this, it's not the most shameful thing in the world. Just throw it away and give back the pot without saying anything

They were completely dreadful throughout the house selling process, cost the OP money and left the house in a disgusting mess, not even having bothered to clear it properly. Now they have the temerity to ask for a more valuable item back. They are shameful on several levels and thoroughly deserve to be embarrassed. And watching porn is pretty shameful in itself as most of it is exploitative and degrading. As someone else said, it's like leaving a big shit in the toilet.

123MothergotafleA · 01/06/2018 06:52

Keep the pot and ignore them.
