AIBU to return the massive stash of porn I just found in the house I just bought?

Just moved into a house, it has been a feat of endurance not made easier by the extremely uncooperative seller. The family wanted to exchange early, set a date to move that was extremely inconvenient. We made arrangements to move on that day, called in favours and spent money to move on that day and then they changed it to a day four days later that was even more inconvenient. They knew we were desperate to move and took advantage.

So we moved in today and when we were going round the house we found a huge stash of frankly filthy porn in the fitted wardrobe of the bedroom that was occupied by the 12 year old son.

I have just had a text off the estate agent saying that the seller has left a le creuset pot in the oven and could we leave it with a neighbour for them to collect. AIBU to put the le creuset pot in a box surrounded by the porn videos and leave it at the neighbors?

could you savely burn it in the le crueset lol (jokes kind of) because I wouldn't want him getting his stash back!

travellinglighter · 30/05/2018 16:23

I’ll reiterate, it’s not the 12 year olds porn. It probably hasn’t been used for years, just forgotten about.

The seller suggested the 25fh, we asked for a bit earlier, they refused. They suggested the 29th, we refused but they realised we were desperate and insisted on the 29th.

As for humiliating the wife, the estate agent told us that she was the driving force behind the change of date. We know this because the estate agent told us that the hubby was severely in the doghouse for picking the 25th. We explained that it was going to cost us money but they insisted.

I arranged for my broadband to start on the 29th and bt delivered the equipment clearly marked with my name, they complained to their solicitor about this and when we got in the property it turns out they’d opened my parcel and looked at my bill.

As for pearl clutching, I couldn’t care less about the porn, what I care about is the fact that they had no regard for the people who gave them a good price for a home they have been trying to sell for two and a half years. Left it filthy and left horrible chandeliers in situ that they tried to sell us.

This is strictly for mumsnet amusement. I thought it would make you laugh like it made me laugh.

Have you got pampas grass in the garden?

travellinglighter · 30/05/2018 16:36

The need for pampas grass on the property has crossed my mind.

Just bin it- why try and start off on a bad foot with your neighbours just because you don't like the people you brought a house off?

LavenderDoll · 30/05/2018 16:55

OP you have mentioned again how you feel wronged by the sellers
You don't know why they didn't want the 25th you don't know anything about them in the scheme of things
But trying to cause trouble by returning porn to humiliate and embarrass is just odd - you must think it would embarrass and cause people to laugh at the seller or else why would you have shared she story
Seriously get a grip and move on

Snowman123 · 30/05/2018 17:13

Bin them.
Solicitor will just charge you for the communications.
Do you really want to pay to save his porn collection?!

Who moves house and leaves porn behind.......... :-0

chocolateworshipper · 30/05/2018 18:25

We found porn when we moved into our house too! It was carefully tucked away in the garage. They were a very nice elderly couple who had been very nice about everything, so we just quietly binned it.

SoupDragon · 30/05/2018 18:41

I would if I wasn't getting a 12 year old into embarrassment and trouble.

How is it doing that?

StormcloakNord · 30/05/2018 18:45

Hahahaha I love this.

I'd have done the same OP. Hope the family are horrified & embarrassed.

Twats!!

Belliniteeny · 30/05/2018 18:54

How long have they lived in the house? Could there be a risk that the porn was owned by a previous tenant? If not, then go for it. I'd give it to the neighbors for maximum humiliation.

FeeLock28 · 30/05/2018 21:19

Really suggest you don't do this, as tempting as it is. If it's the twelve year-old, it'll humiliate him for years; if it's the husband's, it'll embarrass him and his wife for similarly long. Yes, they're difficult people, but if they're as nasty as you suggest, they'll be able to wage a war of attrition against you and better than you.

Orangecake123 · 30/05/2018 23:03

Do iitttttttttttttt!

EllenOlenska · 30/05/2018 23:18

Do it!
Same issue when we moved 2 yrs ago. Back of wardrobe, large box. Couple of vinyls and a selection of old vhs porn and what I suspect were some home made tapes 😵
Following day estate agent called, had we had some mail and if so it could be important and would we mind popping it in just this once? (The completion was very fast so understandably some mail was expected for them).
As it was near my work I said no problem and mentioned a box we'd found as well, "sure, leave it with us".
Oh to be a fly on the wall when that was collected!

busybarbara · 30/05/2018 23:26

Seems a bit childish, just give them to your own husband to add to his collection

Crikey, it took five pages to get to the right answer!

CornishMaid1 · 31/05/2018 00:00

If your solicitor is fixed fee then you probably won't get charged for the letter so let them know even if the message is just that you found it and will leave a box of it with the neighbours.

It will make your solicitor's day! As a pp said we find it hilarious and it will cheer up their office. I still remember the day a client sent me a picture of the seller's blow up doll they found left in the house!

NaMajesty · 31/05/2018 00:00

Agree to go through the entire house and get any random bits they left. Including the viagra on the drive. And of course the porn stash. Random bits of wood or plastic that have come off the house. A bit of chipped paint from the skirting board. A bit of gravel wedged between the bricks. Grin

lardymclardy · 31/05/2018 01:19

So now there is viagra on the driveway too? Hmmm.

Just watch the porn, chill out. You might find you enjoy it.

1forAll74 · 31/05/2018 03:42

I would definitely hand back the porn and pot, the man will be very happy then. If you bin the videos, the bin men will take them home., they sometimes look for funny items in bins. I once went to my bin in the street,to put an extra bag in before collection, and someone must have walked past and put in a large pink rampant rabbit sex toy on top of my rubbish.

LavenderDoll · 31/05/2018 08:31

And of course you found Viagra on the drive ....

Notthatwomanagain · 31/05/2018 08:34

You know what- revolting porn aside- do people not clean the bloody oven before they move out?

I have moved four times and scrubbed the house from top to bottom before we handed over the keys every time.
I can’t imagine arriving with all my stuff in a van as being faced with a dirty house.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 31/05/2018 08:47

What do you think brought means??

RebelRogue · 31/05/2018 08:53

@Whatshallidonowpeople brought means to bring in the past. I'm sure she did not bring a house on the premises .

Brought doesn't mean what you think it means.
