To not shop somewhere because of the shop name?

Picture attached.

I was passing on my way to an event with my DS this morning and saw this.

I wouldn't step foot in there with a name like that!

Do people not think these things through?

What's wrong with it?

KyloRenaissance · 29/05/2018 09:50

Looks like a classy establishment Grin

Minisoksmakehardwork · 29/05/2018 09:50

Makes a change from 'sweet dreams' cutesy type names I guess.

UpstartCrow · 29/05/2018 09:51

Yanbu. If its a mattress shop why are there sofas on display

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 29/05/2018 09:52

I refuse to buy anything from FatFace because I just hate the name....

Waggingmyginger · 29/05/2018 09:53

A name might put me off. And that's fine, it's my money, my choice. That name wouldn't though. Nice advertising you got them there.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 09:55

disturbingly

We had some stormtroopers in our shop the other day (dont ask)

And they were asking about droids and one said

'We went to Claires (accessories) and asked for claire...she wasnt there'

Then we went to Fatface and asked for Fatface...she WAS there'

Twas funny

Sorry OP...i got distracted

AlonsoTigerHeart · 29/05/2018 09:57

I got earrings from Hairy Growler or my birthday one year

Allabouts · 29/05/2018 09:58

Ahh yes, FatFace. I have heard the quality and style is quite good, however, I too won't set foot in there or buy any goods from there due to the name.

It puts me off. I feel as if I would be offending someone if I gave them a FatFace gift Blush

I can't find it within me to call people names so FatFace makes me wince a little every time I hear it.

Rufus Great joke Grin

allabouts

It did make us giggle in the shop

Luckily it was quiet...still no idea why the stormtroopers were there

Allabouts · 29/05/2018 10:00

Kylo The class just oozes out of the place Grin lack of it

A Mexican restaurant is opening near us called Dirties. It puts me off ever going.

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 29/05/2018 10:05

Yeah, my MIL has a FatFace jumper she got from a charity shop that's very well made... still can't bring myself to go in there - maybe like All says it's my non-swearing self just can't bring myself to say the words.

Not a problem on MN.. here I swear like a trooper, but I don't even say 'fart' in person.

ElenOfTheWays · 29/05/2018 10:08

Surely the opposite of "Sweet Dreams" is "Bitter Nightmares".
It's just all wrong. Hmm

NymphInYellow · 29/05/2018 10:10

I saw an ad for Nasty Gal clothing the other day. I wouldn't shop there.

Racecardriver · 29/05/2018 10:11

I never even questioned fat face until now. When I was growing overseas the only fat face stuff you could get were socks but those socks man. Good stuff I tell you.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 29/05/2018 10:15

I’m guessing if you lived in Singapore (as we did til recently), you wouldn’t have bought your clothes from ‘Wanko’ then?

argumentativefeminist · 29/05/2018 10:15
  1. Fat isn't a swear word or even a bad/horrible word? 😂
  2. Most millenials would be flattered to be called a Nasty Gal. Y'all need to update your feminism.

Totally missing the point of the thread but I really have no comment on that omnishambles 😂😂

viques · 29/05/2018 10:19

The brand name Sweaty Betty puts me off their clothes.

BlueJava · 29/05/2018 10:23

I saw this shop the other day and wondered if they meant to do for "Happy Dreams" but missed due to language issues!

lljkk · 29/05/2018 10:24

Happy Nightmares would make me laugh, my black sense of humour would definitely draw me in there. Fatface clothes I could afford in a parallel universe.

lidoshuffle · 29/05/2018 10:27

FCUK - why would I want to have a misspelt swear wear plastered on me?

Yes, I don't get "dirty" either - dirty burgers etc, yeuk

StripePolkaDot · 29/05/2018 10:27

There's a Chinese takeaway near me called 'Hygiene China' and the name really puts me off for some reason!

AnnaBay · 29/05/2018 10:28

Does anyone remember Spud-U-Like, a baked potato place in 90's?
I bloody love baked potatoes but I refused to eat there because the name sounded so wanky.

My best FatFace story.

Me
Manager - can you give us 10 mins?
Colleague in meeting (who was on a massive loose weight for her wedding diet) ooh I like your jumper!
Me - FatFace

Manager - Troopers WTAF?

He didn't know it was a shop Grin

That was a proper LOLLOL day Grin. Room pissed themselves laughing. That was one of the better meetings with that team.
