To not shop somewhere because of the shop name?

Picture attached.

I was passing on my way to an event with my DS this morning and saw this.

I wouldn't step foot in there with a name like that!

Do people not think these things through?

A sandwich shop opened in my neighbourhood with the name Deli Bellyz.

SO MUCH WRONGNESS.

Buster72 · 29/05/2018 11:12

Fat Willys is a shop in Cornwall
BUM equipment make clothes in Australia.

littlemisscomper · 29/05/2018 11:13

My mum and I were discussing the weird brand name in Fat Face once. The assistant heard us and came over to explain its 'Fat' as in epic/awesome and 'Face' for the face of a mountain.

Still, weird.

And I wouldn't touch that bed shop with a bargepole no matter what it was called!

Throwaway4misc · 29/05/2018 11:13

I shop in FatFace, the name suggests it was meant for me.

I remember years ago I used to be quite embarrassed about Virgin stores.

Argeles · 29/05/2018 11:21

I would never in a million years set foot in, or buy anything in FatFace. Such a horrid name. Fortunately for me, the clothes they sell do not appeal to me at all.

Sweaty Betty - It just sounds very grim.

There used to be a clothes shop in a town near to where I grew up, called Super Tramp. Such a vile name. I know there was a band with the same name, but please, you do not want your clothing associated with being a tramp (in the UK or US interpretation).

Fat Boys - This is the name of a Thai restaurant near to where I live. The food may be delicious, but I just won’t eat there.

Dirty Burger - no, just no.

I was visiting Paris when I was 15, and our coach passed a shop called ‘Wanks @ dot fone.’ We were all so busy staring at the name to check we’d read it right, that we didn’t notice what type of shop it was. I don’t think I want to know!

Vitalogy · 29/05/2018 11:24

I'm not too keen on the name Shaken Udder milk shakes, they taste nice though Confused

Shadow666 · 29/05/2018 11:25

Gosh, I really want a baked potato now.

What does the shop sell OP?

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 29/05/2018 11:26

'Fat' as in epic/awesome and 'Face' for the face of a mountain.

Shouldn't that be Phat then?

Somehow I cope with that - I used to go to breakfast at a place called.. Phat something.. in Vancouver when I lived there, and I didn't mind.

Vitalogy · 29/05/2018 11:26

What about the shop CEX, is it pronounced SEX.

Vitalogy · 29/05/2018 11:27

*I've always called it KEX

mumeeee · 29/05/2018 11:27

There is a Spud U Like in.a shopping centre in Cardiff.
There is a restaurant near us called Bullies.
Neither I or DH will eat in there.

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 29/05/2018 11:28

I've always just spelled it..

Argeles · 29/05/2018 11:28

Also, SuperDry. It sounds like an incontinence brand.

Bench - just stupid.

I’ve just looked through and noticed some that I’d forgotten about:

Definitely agree with Fat Willys. People in my area used to have car stickers with this emblazoned on - it really confused me as a little girl.

Virgin - I used to be too embarrassed to set foot in there as a teenager.

MrsMollyMooMoo · 29/05/2018 11:30

I think it’s very strange to not go into a shop because of the name. Especially Fat Face. Fat is not a bad word. It’s not making fun of fat people.

MsJinglyJones · 29/05/2018 11:30

I also hate "dirty" for food, it just makes me think of mud and floor scrapings. I saw a "dirty fries" ready meal in M&S the other day and it was so wrong! M&S should not be associated with dirty fries!

SheldonandPenny · 29/05/2018 11:30

For some inexplicable reason I snigger whenever I pass 'Fat Willy's'...conceited shop owner...Grin

MsJinglyJones · 29/05/2018 11:31

It's not that "fat" is a bad word, it's more that it somehow makes me feel like they're telling me their clothes will make me look like i have a fat face.

carribeanqueenmumofthree · 29/05/2018 11:32

Is this shop in Bethnal Green? I bought a bed in there years ago! I quite like the name, actually. Makes me giggle!

Spartasprout · 29/05/2018 11:34

I won't go anywhere with fat or greedy as part of the name because I'm fat. So Fatsos - no, Greedy Pigs - no, Fatface - no. Also definitely nowhere that spells their name incorrectly.

Buster72 · 29/05/2018 11:37

In Johannesburg there is a large shop in an upmarket shopping mall called CUM books.

It actually means Christian United Ministries and sells bibles and related religious material.

scarbados · 29/05/2018 11:38

We see stormtroopers regularly in Scarborough, quite often waving from the top deck or our seafront open-topped buses. There's a group of them tour holiday resorts and events raising money for charity.

UpstartCrow · 29/05/2018 11:40

Buster72 Someone should tell them. I nominate you.

Nakedavenger74 · 29/05/2018 11:40

This is why I've never ordered a fillet-o-fish. I hate the name. What the fuck is the 'o' doing?! Is It a big 'oh' or a little 'o' as in time o' day? Do we pronounce the T in fillet or are we being French?

Is it:
Filleh OH fish
Filleh o' fish
Fillitohfish
Fillit o' fish

Forget it. Fucking Big Mac thanks.

BertrandRussell · 29/05/2018 11:40

I know of an animal shelter place called Happy Endings. Wrong on several counts......Grin
