Amazing lightening but no thunder. Midlands.

rainbowruthie · 27/05/2018 00:53

Okay, enough now, I need to go to bed, would be no sleeping through this

viques · 27/05/2018 00:54

We had a little lull, but they (weather gods??) must have been regrouping because they are back with a vengeance, and they have bought their friend the rain.

And I have remembered, I meant to take a picture of my HUGE perfect pure white foxglove earlier and forgot, want to bet it will be a muddy crushed heap tomorrow?

PinkSquidgyPig · 27/05/2018 00:57

Yes, and feeling slightly concerned for my daughter and her group camping in Epping Forest campsite!! She's only 9, and her 3rd time sleeping away from home ...

AntiqueSinger · 27/05/2018 01:06

In South East London and it feels like its been exploding directly above my house. The most spectacular lightening I've seen in years. Really basey thunder. It's still grumbling now, but no more lightening. I love thunder storms (as long as I'm inside)

spontaneousgiventime · 27/05/2018 01:06

DD in Buckinghamshire phoned, it woke her up the lightening is like a light show, thunder really loud and the rain is pouring. Biggest storm she can remember. My poor DGC were woken by it too. Nothing here in the NE.

SadEnoughAlready · 27/05/2018 01:08

Lightening here in Cardiff can't hear thunder, though

RavenLG · 27/05/2018 01:08

DP working in Jersey, said it hit there about 930. Nothing in Leicestershire. Love a bit of lightening!

spontaneousgiventime · 27/05/2018 01:15

DD in Bucks video called me, the lightening was at least every 10 seconds or so. It's stunning the brightness even via video call.

IcaMorgan · 27/05/2018 01:18

SE London is like daylight every few seconds with the lightning

anyone else watching the lightshow outside?
vodkaredbullgirl · 27/05/2018 01:22

yes i was, sat on my back door step, trying to capture a pic

MrsTommyBanks · 27/05/2018 01:24

Nice pic IcaMorgan.
My house shook. I've lived here 21 years and it's never shook before.
A very weird strange beautiful storm.

LemonRedwood · 27/05/2018 01:25

SW Herts. Been fairly spectacular for about 2 hours now. Rain coming down in rods. Would like to know where cat has decided to shelter as no amount of Dreamiest-packet-shaking has enticed him out of hiding yet Know full well cheeky bugger has second home, just don't know which neighbour is feeding him the extras

LemonRedwood · 27/05/2018 01:26

*Dreamies-packet-shaking

Wheresthebeach · 27/05/2018 01:27

SW London here ...been up for ages with the most amazing lightening. Now stopped...but can I get to sleep? Can I hell...

Storminateapot · 27/05/2018 01:49

Nothing in Suffolk. We never get exciting weather here it's always just a little bit of anything or we're on the edge of it or just miss it. There's a geographical reason for it, the name of which escapes me. Unless it's 'dull',

mermaidsandunicorns · 27/05/2018 01:59

The website keeps crashing on me have we all broken it lol. I am in cornwall we had a massive storm about 45 mins ago but all quiet now

maras2 · 27/05/2018 02:07

Just starting here in the very centre of the West Midlands.

JillJ72 · 27/05/2018 02:42

N Bucks. Woke around 0130h to son et lumière in town. Torrential rain at times. It's been quiet for around 20 mins although can hear rumbles starting again. I sleep with the light on otherwise as lightning flickers, my eyes flicker. I love Nature but am not relaxed about storms really. Thunder did sound immense though - real summer type rolling, rumbling, grumbling thunder. Cats asleep on our bed with us and I'd chased the chickens into their house as they've been sleeping in their run but didn't know if they'd be scared 😊

PanPanPanPing · 27/05/2018 07:02

London. What an odd storm that was! www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44269304

DP was still up and had tried to call the cats in, to no avail. I got up after the storm woke me up and managed to get Cat1 in, but despite calling and calling out of both the back and front doors, Cat2 was nowhere to be seen. Presumably he managed to hide somewhere OK though, because he finally strolled in about an hour after it had ended!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 27/05/2018 11:47

Camping in Sussex, it was amazing last night, never seen anything like it!

Papergirl1968 · 27/05/2018 11:50

Just before 3am and again at 7am here in the West Mids. A lot of thunder and sheet lightning but I think it had lost some of its power by then.
