Just that really.
I've found one that is really comfortable but very expensive. I just wondered how much yours cost!

Just bought one by Hypnos from John Lewis for £1000 (the pillow top one). So far so good, I'm sleeping so much better. DH was horrified I'd spent so much, and claims not t

Sorry hit post too soon,

Claims not to particularly notice any difference. Hmm

BonnieF · 26/05/2018 19:14

About £700 in the JL sale a few years ago. It’s a very firm orthopaedic mattress. Would have been prepared to pay more, but that was the one we could agree on.

2 things in life to never, ever scrimp on : mattresses and tyres.

SevenStones · 26/05/2018 19:18

Mine was about £250 six and a bit years ago. It's a John Lewis budget sprung one, the most irritating thing about it is that it has no handles n the side for turning!

Despite turning it regularly, it's beginning to look and feel like I will be renewing it within a year.

AmethystRaven · 26/05/2018 19:19

£700 for an iGel from Bensons. Had it two years and I still love it a daft amount. I'm not at home for a week now though...damn!

MarshaBradyo · 26/05/2018 19:20

Just over £1k

Super king size - it felt too firm and first but now it’s perfect

steff13 · 26/05/2018 19:23

I paid about $500. I really want a Purple, so I'm budgeting $1000 the next time around.

Curious2468 · 26/05/2018 19:40

We have an ergoflex one which I think we paid £600ish for 7 years ago. It’s not perfect but way better than anything we had before and I went from waking in pain to mostly being able to function (have EDS hypermobility

ShakeShakeTheMuffin · 26/05/2018 19:42

I had a Hypnos one but it was a very firm one and so I put a memory foam topper on it! (I'm pretty sure it was reduced to 300 from about 800 obviously because it was like sleeping on a board)
Just replaced it with a silent night one with a memory foam layer and paid a bit less, £200 ish. It's one of the Which best buys. (It's reduced now as they have a 15% off code) .www.mattressman.co.uk/mattresses/silentnight/50628-136358/memory-3-sleep-double-mattress.aspx
The Hypnos was obviously of higher quality but to be honest it weighed a bloody ton and I found it really hard to make the bed. Really like having a lightweight one I can actually tuck a sheet under!

ShakeShakeTheMuffin · 26/05/2018 19:43

The link bloody worked in the preview. Hmm

wannabehack · 26/05/2018 19:45

In was always taught never buy a cheap mattress or pair of shoes. You spend your life in one or on the other.

BarbaraofSevillle · 26/05/2018 19:46

Another Leesa owner here. About £600 and it's amazingly perfect.

Interesting that there are a couple of people mentioning the Premier Inn mattress for a similar price, because I looked at that and it seemed to be just under £1k for a king size and I decided that was too much.

Our spare bed has a cheapish Ikea mattress on that was probably in the £1-200 range for a single and that's quite comfortable too, if a little on the soft side.

MrsLaurac · 26/05/2018 19:47

Our mattress was about 1200 total with everything about 2 ish. Was shocked at 600 for a head rest!!

purpleorchidwhite · 26/05/2018 19:57

£1400, but managed to get it direct from manufacturer in the end for half the amount it was in the shop.

honeyishrunkthekid · 26/05/2018 21:27

Well I think from all your replies, it's definitely worth investing in, so I will stop panicking about the cost and look forward to a good nights sleep

We recently bought our mattress, we tried a £400 one from Next and sent it back after a week under their sleep guarantee as it was awful.
We then tried a £700 one, that lasted 2 weeks before that went back too.
Then after spending a whole weekend going around all the shops trying them out. We settled on a Tempur Cloud Elite, it cost over £2,000 with their pillows, but it really is like sleeping on a cloud.

FrolickingForklift · 26/05/2018 21:42

Wow. Mine was £200 five years ago and it's still the most comfy bed I have ever slept it. Hate being away from home

strawberrysparkle · 26/05/2018 21:45

£80!

Maremaremare · 27/05/2018 22:09

Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but ViSpring mattresses (and presumably other mattresses containing horse hair) get a bit firmer with time, not softer as people often expect.

bookbook · 27/05/2018 22:23

After a recommendation we bought a dunlopillo mattress with a talaly topper ( so both latex) , Had it 5 years, cost about £800 then . Worth every penny -

bluerunningshoes · 27/05/2018 22:24

less than 200
from ikea

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 27/05/2018 22:37

Our current mattress usually costs 900 however we got it for £375 because it was in the clear all sale. It’s a memory foam one, had it for 4 years now 😃

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 27/05/2018 22:42

£1000 - totally worth it!

madamginger · 27/05/2018 23:02

Ours was £500, we have this one www.britishbed.co.uk/Product.aspx?id=57794
I love it, so comfy and it’s made by a family run business too which I try and support where I can

DownstairsMixUp · 28/05/2018 07:30

I don't know but it's a simba mattress
