Just that really.
I've found one that is really comfortable but very expensive. I just wondered how much yours cost!

About £600. After spending time at several premier inn’s over the years and loving the feel of the mattrsss/ sleep quality we bought one on their “buy our bed” deal. It’s Hypnos made and we chose to take just the mattress and buy the actual bed from elsewhere.
I bloody bloody bloody bloody bloody bloody love it!!

4yoniD · 26/05/2018 17:38

@ morningtoncrescent62
I did a bit of googling before buying my bed - this was my final list of recommended brands:
Health beds (from co-op)
Casper
IKEA (hovag Which Best Buy) £230 but lots of bad reviews too
Laura Ashley
John Lewis
Vi spring, john rynan
Myers (my old brand)
In case that helps!

Mummyoflittledragon · 26/05/2018 17:56

Mine is a European single as we have 2 separate mattresses on a super king. It was 600 euros around 14 years ago. 100% latex. It is starting to soften now. But I spend a lot of time in bed as I’m chronically ill.

MismatchedStripySocks · 26/05/2018 17:56

Ours was £950. It was on offer, down from £1150. We also treated ourselves to fab pillows that were £70 each. We are both sleeping so much better now. Fabulous investment Grin

boysmum2 · 26/05/2018 18:01

Just bought a new mattress and bed - £1800 (on interest free credit). Have never spent that much on a bed/mattress before so just hope it's worth it!

TrickyKid · 26/05/2018 18:03

Had been planning on spending to £700 - £1000 as we jad a cheap one previously which was no good for my back.
Someone suggested ikea so we reluctantly went, not expecting much. Got a great mattress for around £200!

Knackerelli · 26/05/2018 18:10

£1500 I think for a tempur one. DH has a bad back so needs a decent one and I was getting aching hips with our previous one that wasn’t that old. Love it!

TheWernethWife · 26/05/2018 18:14

We got a Hypnos from John Lewis, around £800, very comfy.

SharronNeedles · 26/05/2018 18:20

£120.
It is amazing!! By far the best one I've ever slept on!
Only got it mega cheap due to a series of coincidences and unfortunate incidents

Topseyt · 26/05/2018 18:20

You are all starting to scare me a bit, as we have to do ours soon. We replaced the DDs' mattresses (3 single bed ones) about six months ago, and need to do our double one now.

I guess I expect to spend around £500 on our new mattress, but we have just had to buy a new fridge freezer as ours is on its last legs after 22 years solid use and making too many weird and wonderful (and worrying) noises!!

Mattress in another couple of months then.

Darknessinthevalley · 26/05/2018 18:37

£80 for a superking from a bhf furniture store. It was brand new in its wrapper from Dreams, it was still selling at £1800 when we got it. Houses in my area usually don't have rooms that big, which is why it was so cheap. It is the single best thing I've ever bought and I hate sleeping away from home because of it.

Ginkypig · 26/05/2018 18:38

Without reading the thread I just want to shout leesa mattress!

I spent years on shitty mattresses, some nights crying due to pain.

I didn't buy a bed just the mattress but the difference is amazing. It's apparently got which and good housekeeping Best Buy awards now but didn't when I got mine.

It cost £600 including delivery for a kingsize, having just looked there's an offer meaning a kingsize would cost 517 at the moment.

Haberpop · 26/05/2018 18:40

Around £1k, it's a Hypnos and is the best mattress I have slept on, a close second was our £185 (king size) Ikea Morgedal mattress.

Twinkie1 · 26/05/2018 18:44

£3800 tempur one and its amazing.

Camomila · 26/05/2018 18:46

£0 It’s a nice orthopaedic one my parents bought and then didn’t use because it’s so hard. We bought a mattress topper for it and now it’s fine for us younger folk.

Paddingtonthebear · 26/05/2018 18:51

Just under £600. It’s a John Ryan mattress and we love it. Amazing quality and they are true mattress experts. I wouldn’t buy one from a high street bed shop ever again, same money but quality is utter crap in comparison

VanGoghsDog · 26/05/2018 18:51

About £200 in the Wayfair sale at the end of last year. It's absolutely fine. Got my KS bed there too and love it.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/05/2018 18:52

£700 from John Lewis, it's fabulous. 400 thread count white bedding, goose down pillows and duvet...getting into that bed always puts a smile on my face.

morningtoncrescent62 · 26/05/2018 18:56

This thread is soooooo helpful - I'm busily following up all the recommendations. Thank you everyone, especially OP for starting it. Smile

MissMarplesKnitting · 26/05/2018 19:00

About £750 on a decent pocket sprung for our king-size. Was on offer. Huge improvement in the saggy old one!

Next investment will be really good pillows

Badoukas · 26/05/2018 19:01

About 250 quid. Prefer pocket sprung. Turn regularly and buy new about every 5 years.

RavenLG · 26/05/2018 19:02

Premier Inn mattress about £600. It is a treat after our old one. I've not had a bad sleep on it since.
It's worth investing in something that will give you a good night sleep as that's invaluable.
A lot of companies have those 'try for 100 nights' deal, might be worth looking at if you're insure.

Paddingtonthebear · 26/05/2018 19:02

MinaPaws · 26/05/2018 19:06

Over £1k about twelve years ago. It's still so comfortable. The DC, now teens, still come and lounge on the bed with me for a goodnight cuddle because it's so gorgeous. It manages to be really soft and squidy but fully supports your body weight and hasn't pulled out of shape in twelve years. We should probably replace it but I feel very attached to it.
