To wonder why both Duchesses are so thin?

Talking about both the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex. And ok, I know IABU, but I thought I'd namechange and put it out there to see if other posters agreed. Putting my tin hat on, as I know I'll get lots of criticism for my gossipy thread. Oh well!

Both Catherine and Meghan are beautiful women with naturally lovely figures. But they are both so so extremely thin! Right now Kate is less thin, I assume because of her recent pregnancy and new baby, but no doubt she'll bounce back to her usual skinniness soon.

Kate was nowhere this thin before getting engaged and married into the RF. Meghan has always been very slim, but is now thinner than ever and I bet she won't gain the weight back. I remember even Diana lost loads of weight as soon as she got engaged and married! And she stayed very thin from then onwards.

Why does it seem like extreme thinness is a prerequisite to be a royal wife?

My fil has always been slim yet eats everything. He used to smoke a lot and had physical jobs burning it off.
Has a smoking related disease now though so always a downside of course.

genetics is not a great argument for not managing weight, epigenetics (environmental influence) plays a much more important role. 30 minutes of daily vigorous exercise switches off the “fat gene”, and whilst that might mean that if you carry the fat gene you need to ensure you do daily exercise (and everyone can find 30 minutes to do exercise at home) surely the trade off is worth it given the health consequences of excess weight.

Yy to people needing to be hungry before a meal. Dinner is in the oven here, the house smells of it, we are waiting for DH to come home. Both dcs have come down in the last 90 minutes to ask "how long till dinner" that is how it should be and they will eat it when it is served. Also drinking water or milk not juice, not fizzy and not alcohol 80% of the time.

rach I used to be skinny but disability has made me fat. I eat a lot but always have - I now have to watch what I eat. The fact that I’m no longer able to burn it off is a problem. Not everyone can find 30 minutes to do exercise. Some like me aren’t able to. Being unable to move much is a problem.

rachmack · 30/05/2018 17:16

Absolutely agree that for a very small minority of people disability prevents vigorous activity and for those people their basic metabolic rate is significantly lower and needs to be reflected by calories consumed. That is a different issue to the primary point of this topic, and for that the majority of people could make a choice to include 30 minutes of physical activity into their day. If they have time to read the boards on here they have time to accumulate 30 minutes of movement. 😉

When Meghan and her mum arrived at Cliveden the evening before the wedding, they're both pretty much the same body type and build. Her mum has very slim legs too, l assume down to yoga and exercise. lf Meghan's been brought up in a health conscious and pro-exercise environment, l expect that will stick with her. And like a few posters have said, having a personal chef would be a massive help!

"Yy to people needing to be hungry before a meal."

Only a bit hungry. If you're really hungry you won't have the patience to prepare something healthy.

"Also drinking water or milk not juice, not fizzy and not alcohol 80% of the time."

Why not tea, coffee, fizzy water? Go easy on the full fat milk.
