To wonder why both Duchesses are so thin?

Talking about both the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex. And ok, I know IABU, but I thought I'd namechange and put it out there to see if other posters agreed. Putting my tin hat on, as I know I'll get lots of criticism for my gossipy thread. Oh well!

Both Catherine and Meghan are beautiful women with naturally lovely figures. But they are both so so extremely thin! Right now Kate is less thin, I assume because of her recent pregnancy and new baby, but no doubt she'll bounce back to her usual skinniness soon.

Kate was nowhere this thin before getting engaged and married into the RF. Meghan has always been very slim, but is now thinner than ever and I bet she won't gain the weight back. I remember even Diana lost loads of weight as soon as she got engaged and married! And she stayed very thin from then onwards.

Why does it seem like extreme thinness is a prerequisite to be a royal wife?

Some people are naturally thin. I'm 5'8'' and weigh 58kg. Have been the same weight since I was 21 and now I'm 40. I've had two kids and put on 20kg during each pregnancy, however, each time I lost the baby weight within about 4 months due to breastfeeding. (My pregnancies were 'all bump' no changes to arms/legs/face.) I don't diet, I eat very well and I only work out once a week (pilates class). It annoys me that it seems to be acceptable to openly judge and slag off naturally slim women.

I think we’ve actually lost scope of what’s healthy- they are e both size 6/8 but I work in an office of women and honestly there are many at that size/age. We are so used to s OMG overweight we’ve forgotten what slim normal is! (I am a 10-12 btw do not sensitive to small size!!)

Kate’s not naturally thin though is she? We’ve all known her since she was 19

I reckon having a chef would make it a billion times harder to be very thin. They could make you whatever you want... on demand!

Hberries I am actually pretty slim myself (with similar measurements) and I have always been, so no slagging off all slim women really. However these two women haven't been this thin for their whole lives. It seems to be a reaction to joining the RF. That was the point of my thread.

Go and hang around Chelsea or Notting Hill, or the Upper East Side or Hollywood and you'll see the majority of women are a size 8

They are under masses of pressure and in the world’s eye. Of course that’s why they are thin. If they aren’t they will be hugely criticised. It’s not a good thing but I don’t blame them at all.

I too would look great if i had the time, money and inclination.

They work out and so their bodies naturally look leaner and more toned, but I doubt that either of them are smaller than a 6-8 which is normal.

Surely their size is up to them, not up to us to judge and discuss. This whole atmosphere of judging every single detail of their lives is pointless and dull.

Some people are thin, some aren't. It's not baffling, just part of life that peoples bodies are all different. They probably feel under more pressure than normal folk because their bodies will be judged and found wanting. But stuff like this just perpetuates it.

tenbob Meghan is hardly a size 8, esp considering she is not very tall. More of a 6 or even less (does a UK 4 even exist?!). Kate might be a 8, but given how tall she is that is very very thin!

Meghan is 5 7, towards the upper end of it probably. Kate is probably around 5 8 - 5 9.

I think they both look fine.

Maybe they are happy in their skins and lives. Fat isn’t great is it? so good for them.

You can easily find Megan’s measurements online from Her acting card- they are pretty consistently reported as 37-25-34. She’s actually 5ft 7

Maybe they WANT to be thin. And healthy. And look good.

They both look perfectly healthy. Possibly on the lower side of the normal range of BMI, but many people seem to have forgotten what a healthy person looks like these days. Catherine would not have been able to give birth to three children if she was an unhealthily low weight. Your periods simply stop if you lose too much weight. Therefore, logically Catherine is not underweight.

Well obviously they want to be thin who suggested otherwise?

They're not so thin. They're women in good shape.

They are both toned and quite muscular - Meghan is a yoga fan so has excellent muscle/tone.

They both have fantastic figures and look very healthy too.

Are you aware of their BMI? They look completely healthy. I have been criticised all my life for being ‘too skinny’ my wrists are rediculously thin looking, but I am 9 stone and 5ft 3 which gives me a perfectly healthy bmi of 22.. am I supposed to keep gaining weight till my wrists and arms appear fatter, making myself overweight? Being criticised for being too thin is just as bad for being fat shamed. And it’s even WORSE when there’s nothing wrong to begin with.. so being shamed even when your at a completely healthy weight.. it’s really sad people feel the need to point things like this out.

@PurpleDaisies If I had access to a personal chef I’d probably be extremely obese. It has nothing to do with what access they have to whom and when. It has everything to do with what is expected of them to always look their best in public. They have no choice. Take Kate for example, how many mums walk out of hospital after giving birth still look so elegant? Not me that’s for sure!

Just to clarify, I don't think they are necessarily unhealthy (although I wouldn't state the opposite for sure either). I just think they are very thin, and they both lost weight upon joining the RF.
