To want to shout about my new bras from the rooftops?!

THANK YOU to whoever it was who told me about the boob or bust method on here a few months ago. For YEARS I've been wearing a 38G as I was told that's what I was in M&S. I knew it wasn't right, my back isn't 38 inches and if I bent over I'd get the hideous double boob Shock

Measured myself using boob or bust and came out as a 32J or 34JJ. Went for 34JJ and ordered a load of Curvy Kate and Flirtelle bras in the brastop sale. They arrived about an hour ago and I've just been prancing around with the mum tum flying in all directions in my new bras. I feel AMAZING. They're comfortable, they manage to lift up my (huge) boobs and not make them look saggy, they look GOOD.

So it turns out I'm two back sizes and FIVE cup sizes (GG, H, I, J, JJ) bigger than I was previously wearing! No wonder I always had bloody back pain.

Just wanted to shout about it for all the women in the back who haven't tried it yet, or still trust in the outdated method M&S and a few other places use.

I AM SO HAPPY Grin

Brilliant- thanks for the tip!

hipposarerad · 23/05/2018 16:57

I just had a go. I've gone from 36D (or DD, or sometimes 38C - all of which fit poorly in differing areas for maximum fidget/agony factor) to a 32HH Shock Confused

Where am I going to get that size from at a reasonable price..? There's no way my wee little scrap of carer's allowance will stretch to a visit to Rugby & Peller.

RedPandaMama · 23/05/2018 17:05

Everyone who is having a panic about being a big (and therefore expensive) size have a look on Brastop, they aren't Primark cheap but reasonable, I ordered 6 bras at £15-£20 each and am going to send 2 back with their free returns.

@hipposarerad Try Brastop or the Lingerie Outlet Store (both online). They have a range of styles at discounted prices Smile

Lweji · 23/05/2018 17:05

Apart from actual shops such as Bravissimo, possibly Debenhams, and local specialist shops, here are some sites:

lingerieoutletstore.co.uk
www.belle-lingerie.co.uk/
www.brastop.com/
www.barenecessities.com/
www.debenhams.com

Also, Amazon

You can find a good bra in a shop and then look online to see if it's cheaper, or order (free returns) in a range of sizes and shapes.

@DieSchottin93 and @Lweji thanks for the info Wink

NellieTheElephant1 · 23/05/2018 20:32

Does this work as well for the smaller of boob? I've worn 36A for years quite happily but according to the calculator I should be 32DD? I don't think I could even get a 32 band done up, not without it cutting me in half anyway!

Lweji · 23/05/2018 20:38

If it measured 32, then you can fit a 32. The problem is that if the cup is too small, it can make the band feel tighter.
Go and try a 32D, and if it feels too tight try a 32 DD.
This is not a huge size.

Lweji · 23/05/2018 20:39

Sorry, 32DD and if necessary go up to 32E

NurseryFightClub · 23/05/2018 20:40

Does anyone know where can get decent swimsuit with large chip without spending the earth?

Hamandcheesebaguette · 23/05/2018 20:50

I wear a 36DD and this has suggested a 30GG

Hmm

Surely not?!?!?!?!?!

Luisa27 · 23/05/2018 21:04

I’m not sure this is working for me - I just tried it too - I’m 32GG - Ri&P fitting many times so I’m pretty confident it’s my true size - and this is saying I’m 28JJ 😐

Voice0fReason · 23/05/2018 22:36

I was wearing a 36B for years
B&B put me at 32F

I thought it was ridiculous - I often put extenders on by 36 bras, how on earth was a 32 going to fit? And surely F cups are huge, I've only got a small handful.
But I tried it, then I threw out all of my old 36B bras and bought a whole range in my new size (with a couple in 34E)

If you're not sure - try it - it is honestly worth it.

Basta · 23/05/2018 22:49

Measured myself using boob or bust and came out as a 32J or 34JJ.

Not 32JJ/34J? Confused

MrsExpo · 23/05/2018 22:54

I’m another advocate of this method. I went from a 34D to a 32F. The difference is amazing.

DieSchottin93 · 23/05/2018 23:16

@NellieTheElephant1 it absolutely does work for the smaller boobed among us Smile If you can get a non-stretchy tape measure around you at 32 inches, there's no reason a stretchy 32 band wouldn't fit Wink

Like Lweji said, if the cup is too small (and the band too big), this makes the band feel tight as your boob tissue is being pushed out of the cup.

VetOnCall · 23/05/2018 23:19

Another BoB fan here, I went from an M&S measured 32B to a 28E. I then harangued persuaded my DM to measure herself as I knew her sizing was all wrong - she was wearing a 36C despite never having been bigger than a size 10 in her life - and lo and behold she's actually a 30G.

Fastgirl · 23/05/2018 23:55

Dear baby jesus and all the angels...
I have been wearing 34 D.

I have just ordered a 32 HH to try....

opinionatedfreak · 24/05/2018 00:27

I've got large boobs and have long been a Bravissimo devotee. In fact they changed my life as an awkward 18 year old finding a selection of attractive bras was simply amazing as up to that point I had usually had the choice of exactly one old lady style in my local department store.

I've put on weight and my bras weren't fitting right at all so I went into Bravissimo and got re-fitted, there was a bit of discussion bout the right size and I tried on several bras both up a back size and up a cup size from my old size.

Things were initially Ok but 3 months in it all went wrong. Back pain, stabby underwires. My weight is stable at my new (heavy) weight.

So I went back. Got re-fitted. This time I went back to my old back size and up a cupsize. What a difference. The back is tight but my shoulders don't hurt and the underwiring doesn't dig in and my clothes are sitting a lot better.

Moral: get fitted. Don't be scared of the HUGE cup sizes....

Louislovesmud · 24/05/2018 00:29

Never have I wanted to "like" an OP more!

Fintress · 24/05/2018 06:40

The only thing that concerns me by going down band sizes is ended up with back fat! I just dug out a strapless bra I got fitted for in Bravissimo when I was slightly slimmer. It's a Panache 32F. It still fits but I have slight muffin above it in the back as the band is quite shallow. I generally wear this style from M&S, 34DD but when new the band is tiiiight. deep band.

So basically I'm looking for my BorB size with a deep band (30G).

AnyFucker · 24/05/2018 06:55

34B to 32DD here

SorrelForbes · 24/05/2018 07:10

Luisa27 R&P offer great service but IME they don't always get it right. They often seem to recommend a slightly too big band.

SorrelForbes · 24/05/2018 07:12

Fintress. Back fat is often caused by too small a cup! I have loads when wearing a 34DD but none in a 30FF.

Fintress · 24/05/2018 07:14

I'm going bra shopping on Saturday Sorrel so hopefully I have some success. Will report back with my purchases if I make any.
