To want to shout about my new bras from the rooftops?!

THANK YOU to whoever it was who told me about the boob or bust method on here a few months ago. For YEARS I've been wearing a 38G as I was told that's what I was in M&S. I knew it wasn't right, my back isn't 38 inches and if I bent over I'd get the hideous double boob Shock

Measured myself using boob or bust and came out as a 32J or 34JJ. Went for 34JJ and ordered a load of Curvy Kate and Flirtelle bras in the brastop sale. They arrived about an hour ago and I've just been prancing around with the mum tum flying in all directions in my new bras. I feel AMAZING. They're comfortable, they manage to lift up my (huge) boobs and not make them look saggy, they look GOOD.

So it turns out I'm two back sizes and FIVE cup sizes (GG, H, I, J, JJ) bigger than I was previously wearing! No wonder I always had bloody back pain.

Just wanted to shout about it for all the women in the back who haven't tried it yet, or still trust in the outdated method M&S and a few other places use.

I AM SO HAPPY Grin

Sorrel tbh I haven’t measured since having ds2 7 months ago but for the last few years have used the method from the ‘bra intervention’ threads on here and that’s what I end up with. Can’t find a tape measure at the mo!!

ferrier · 11/06/2018 00:07

ferrier almost definitely you need a bigger cup in the smaller band size.

If I wasn't the shy retiring type I'd post you pictures of what I look like in 34B and 30D. I can assure you it's 34B that fits and looks like it fits. I could also show you the red marks I still have left from yesterday wearing the 32B bra.

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2018 07:31

ferrier I wouldn't expect the 32B to fit as the cup would be too small, hence the red marks. Have you tried a 32 in a bigger cup?

Lweji · 11/06/2018 08:00

Strapless bras don't need to be tight around the cup. They'll only fall if the band is too loose. In the right fit they will stay put, because they have wider bands and often adhesive strips.

ferrier · 11/06/2018 10:28

The cup is fine, it's the underband that isn't.

ferrier · 11/06/2018 10:30

I might just try a 34B in this particular design. I was always told to go down a bandsize for strapless in order to get the degree of support needed.

Lweji · 11/06/2018 11:19

Only if you're wearing the wrong band size to start with.
If a 34 is too loose for strapless, then it's not giving you enough support with normal bras either.

Lweji · 11/06/2018 11:20

In fact, and this is my experience from Triumph, strapless may be tighter in the same band size than normal bras, anyway.

TheCosmicOwl · 11/06/2018 11:50

Just tried this and I've come out as a 34DD which is exactly what I'm wearing.

Bit disappointed not to be a 30J or something, but I guess this means I can still buy my bras in the supermarket Grin

Furball · 11/06/2018 22:18

BendydickCuminsnatch - That’s fabulous! Sadly for me I am the opposite to you - massive back and tiny cup 😄 38B. I buy a 36 and use the extender things because somehow a B in a 36 fits better than a 38.

The cup size is relevant to the band size so a 36B and 38B is a different cup size hence why its different Smile

Baubletrouble43 · 13/06/2018 11:48

Well after much remeasuring to check my size my 30gg bra arrived this morning ...and it is a perfect fit!!! Much to my shock! It feels snug, I feel supported, my whole boob is in the cup. And most importantly it looks amazing! Thank You op!

Electrocute1980 · 16/06/2018 11:36

I don't know what I did wrong here - I wear 36DD normally, did my measurements and it came up with 32GG or 32H. Ordered bras in both sizes and have had to send them all back, the band was so tight they were really uncomfortable :(

Lweji · 16/06/2018 12:02

It's hard to say. If you are not used to supporting bands, it will feel way too tight. It also doesn't help that the bras are new.
But don't give up on the first try. Go up a band size if it feels better and adjust the cup size (go down one size in this case).

Buteo · 16/06/2018 12:29

Electrocute1980 I had that too, usually wore a 38B and BoB suggested 32F but the band was too tight and the cup too large. I tried a 34D and that’s a much better fit. As a bonus my local House of Fraser has Sloggi bras down from £20 to £6 so I’ve stocked up in my new size.

Usernametaken123 · 16/06/2018 13:27

Might be being a bit dense, but what does it mean when they say"lean over so your boobs are dangling at 90 degree angle"?

Lweji · 16/06/2018 13:36

It's when your body makes an L, with your hands reaching for the wall, rather than bending all the way down with your hands reaching for the floor.

Usernametaken123 · 16/06/2018 18:32

Aha...I get it.thanks!

Barbaro · 16/06/2018 18:38

I tried this. Currently wear a size 36b and it said something like 32h for me. That cannot be right can it?

Barbaro · 16/06/2018 18:50

Measured again and now saying 34g. Still can't be right my boobs aren't that big.

DieSchottin93 · 16/06/2018 19:03

@Barbaro how does your 36B fit? Do you get any overspills in the cups or back fat, does the band ride up at the back at all?

Barbaro · 16/06/2018 19:29

No overspill in cups but the band digs in on my sides and the straps always fall down no matter how I adjust them. It doesn't ride up though.

Bubbletrouble43 · 16/06/2018 19:29

Barbaro my boobs don't look very big either but a 30gg bra fits me really well

Troels · 16/06/2018 19:39

I did this a few years back came out as a 28f and I just redid it and I'm 28f again. No way I am comfortable in 28f. I bought a couple from bravissimo I think it was, and after 10 minutes in 28f I was so uncomfortble the band was way too tight it hurt, plus it gave me ugly underarm extra boobs. 34b fits fine no pain, no extra boobage, so does 32c.

Barbaro · 16/06/2018 19:39

Mine only look like Cs at best though. Maybe I should get a cheap bra at that size though and see if it fits better.

Lweji · 16/06/2018 20:08

@Barbaro
At least give it a go. Go to Bravissimo or order from a shop with free returns. Don't dismiss the suggested sizes.
