To think urinating in the shower isn't a bad thing?

It all gets washed away anyway and you can clean yourself straight after Confused how come some people see this on a par apparently with dirtiness Kim+Aggie would faint at?

I never pee in the toilet if I'm about to have a shower. It's a waste of water and paper to wipe, if you're about the shower.

In the shower it just runs down between your legs and is diluted many times before it gets to the drain - the same drain that takes the toilet flush anyway.

WindsweptNotInteresting · 23/05/2018 12:52

The drains from my shower open up into a top drain where in theory the grey water can be collected and recycled

The drains from my toilet go into the underground drain

Lots of households have this kind of drain arrangement so peeing into a shower is disgusting

But to be fair, I shave my legs in the shower, so by the same logic, there would be tons of little stubbly leg hairs in your grey water too, as well as the dirt/sweat you've washed off... is that not just as gross if that water is to be recycled?!

Queenoftheblitz · 23/05/2018 12:54

Yes I do it. Never seenn it bounce on the walls! The running water sets off my need to pee even if i've peed before.
Pee is sterile.
The shower water dilutes the pee and washes it away.

VauxhallVectra · 23/05/2018 12:54

It's just wee. Your own wee

Yeah if you're single, live on your own and never have any over-night visitors.

I share my house with my DP and my DD and we have over-night visitors a few times a year.

I don't want to share a shower with other people and their piss.

Dirty mares

Namechange128 · 23/05/2018 12:55

We've already got warnings that more water shortages will come due to leakages and overuse - why add an unnecessary loo flush?

Qcumber · 23/05/2018 12:56

I pee in the shower. It's a bit of a faff because the gallon or so that comes out tends to completely cover the walls of the shower, sometimes even the floor, it splashes everywhere. And the stench! I mean I'm covered in it by the end of the shower. Grin

LionAllMessy · 23/05/2018 12:56

So weird. By that logic, you're happy sharing with their sweat and blood and tears and general dirt?

Oh no wait, the shower washes it all away!

HostaFireAndIce · 23/05/2018 12:58

Maybe some will splash up on the shower walls/door

That's some power jet you've got on you!

dawnmist · 23/05/2018 12:59

I love it, just watching the wee wash away, and it saves on toilet tissue.Grin

VauxhallVectra · 23/05/2018 13:00

@LionAllMessy

By that logic, you're happy sharing with their sweat and blood and tears and general dirt?

Firstly, there's never going to be as much blood, tears and sweat as a full piss.

Secondly, the shower is the place where you're meant to wash off sweat, tears and blood.

There is a place, normally right next to the shower, which is the specifically designed place for getting rid of wee.
I just can't fathom why someone would look at the toilet (the place you're meant to get rid of wee and poo) and think "Nah, fuck that, I'll just piss in the shower instead".

minipie · 23/05/2018 13:01

I do. Never seen the issue. Waste of water and paper to use the loo if I'm about to shower.

It definitely doesn't cure athletes foot though unfortunately.

LionAllMessy · 23/05/2018 13:02

Vauxhall You can't fathom it? Numerous people have given good reasons why in this thread already!

Honestly, the full pee is easily washed away by the full shower.

VauxhallVectra · 23/05/2018 13:02

This thread highlights why I always give baths and showers in hotels or other people's houses a wipe over before I use them.

VauxhallVectra · 23/05/2018 13:05

@LionAllMessy

I should've been clearer.
I see that people have their reasons and they think their reasons are valid which leads them to choose to piss in the shower.

For me, personally, I can't imagine thinking those reasons are valid and choosing to piss in the shower rather than using the toilet.

Each to their own but, as I said, I'm glad I carry wipes around with me and always wipe down random showers before I use them

Catfacecats · 23/05/2018 13:05

I always pee in the shower if I need to...
and it’s the same shower my partner uses after me and the kids use occasionally too...
Wee at the start, normal wee, not some mass spraying of urine everywhere.... then wash myself, sometimes wash hair, then rinse.
Partner has a shower next - shower heats up for a few mins while he brushes his teeth. So if by any chance the most minute droplet remains in the shower, then I’m sure it would be rinsed off then.
Then once everyone is off to work I give the shower a quick clean most days.

maxthemartian · 23/05/2018 13:05

I wee in the shower, and in fact if I need a wee and am about to shower I'll make a point of not using the toilet first and doing it in the shower instead to save a flush.

TeasndToast · 23/05/2018 13:06

I find the idea really grim. Like Vauxhallvectra says, the idea of numerous guests in hotels doing it before I get it makes me feel ill. We are a family of 6. If we all peed in there I expect it would smell really quickly. But then maybe I’m just a clean freak. I only recently learned from mumsnet that people don’t wash their feet in the shower either. So there are loads of people with piddle running between their toes and just a bit of water to wash it off. To me personally that’s bloody grim.

SneakyGremlins · 23/05/2018 13:08

Great responses Grin

What now?

JoeElliotsMullet · 23/05/2018 13:10

I didn't until I was heavily pregnant, then I had to, even if I'd been for a pee just before getting in the shower. Peeing standing up seemed to empty the drips better than sitting - squeeze a few drips out, stand up, oh I need to pee again.

I still do it occasionally, just because I can. The water and suds wash it all away.

Catfacecats · 23/05/2018 13:10

For the people with fears of other showers - do you use public toilets or other peoples toilet? Do you sit on toilets that other people have used? Isn’t that worse?

MidniteScribbler · 23/05/2018 13:11

I have a property that is on tank water. Damn right I pee in the shower, as I'm not going to waste a flush of precious water unnecessarily. I also follow the 'if it's yellow, let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down' mantra with my toilet. To be fair, that's just in my ensuite that only I use. The main bathroom doesn't have the same policy. But for what it costs to fill my water tank when it is empty, then I'll do what I can to save water.

HoomanMoomin · 23/05/2018 13:13

Wiping down shower with wipes before using it? So you’re not only not helping environment by weeing in the toilet before shower and flushing it, but you’re also adding to pollution by using wipes to clean shower?! Angry

I can guarantee you that your overnight guests are weeing in the shower. So you’re standing in their piss. By your logic anyway.

LionAllMessy · 23/05/2018 13:13

Er... I'm pretty sure hotels clean the rooms (including bathrooms) between guests.

JoeElliotsMullet · 23/05/2018 13:14

@Teasandtoast, "the idea of numerous guests in hotels doing it before I get it makes me feel ill"

Suggest you stay in proper hotels where the showers have plugholes and are cleaned between bookings then...
