To think urinating in the shower isn't a bad thing?

It all gets washed away anyway and you can clean yourself straight after Confused how come some people see this on a par apparently with dirtiness Kim+Aggie would faint at?

The main thing is it saves plenty of water on not flushing the toilet.

Because as a fully-grown adult, you should have enough self-control and forward planning to have a wee before you get in the shower

But why would I need to control myself and forward plan to avoid doing something that is harmless and helps the environment?? Confused

Givemestrengthorgin · 23/05/2018 12:29

It's good for the environment to have a wee in the shower as you don't waste water with a flush!

GorgeousJaws · 23/05/2018 12:29

I don't think it's the most disgusting thing ever, but I couldn't do it, it seems a bit manky.

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/05/2018 12:30

It's just wee. Your own wee. Wee only smells when it's exposed to bacteria and then the air. If you are diluting a few hundred millilitres of wee with several gallons of water all being poured into the drain at the same time, there is not going to be a build up of smelly wee in the drains.

I do a lot of long distance trail running so I've become pretty blaise about wee, I suppose - mine, other people's, weeing in front of people, people weeing in front of me, wee in random places etc.

Celebelly · 23/05/2018 12:31

Being in the shower makes me want to wee even if I didn't need to before I got in. I think it's the warm water.

Leapfrog44 · 23/05/2018 12:31

Weeing in the shower saves water from an unnecessary toilet flush! Urine doesn't tend to contain any harmful bacteria and doesn't pose any health risk - what's the problem??

JessicaEccles · 23/05/2018 12:32

a) Don't people wash/ change their shower curtains regularly?
b) They are water proof so the urine won't 'soak in'.

SpeckleDust · 23/05/2018 12:33

No! But some people wee in swimming pools shock

I read an article recently which researched the amount of urine in a standard swimming pool. It was something like 75 litres .

Found it:
www.theguardian.com/science/2017/mar/01/how-much-pee-is-in-our-swimming-pools-new-urine-test-reveals-the-truth

The composition of urine is very similar to sweat so all you non-weeing-in-the-shower people probably should be careful you don't get sweat in the shower either Grin

odig · 23/05/2018 12:33

If a woman does a wee in the shower, how the hell can it get on the walls and shower curtain? Trinity, I'm intrigued.

LilMadAgain · 23/05/2018 12:35

I read about the SOS Brazil thing upthread and I recall a question being raised about people flushing after every wee. Does everyone flush after every wee?

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/05/2018 12:35

The composition of urine is very similar to sweat so all you non-weeing-in-the-shower people probably should be careful you don't get sweat in the shower either

I didn't know this, but it does explain why my running clothes often smell of wee if I leave them a day or so before throwing them in to wash. Every day's a school day!

pastabest · 23/05/2018 12:36

I'm heavily pregnant with DC2.

Damn right I pee in the shower. Anything else would be madness.

I do try and avoid doing it if toddler DC1 has has popped in with me though. She doesn't extend me the same courtesy.

carrotcake121 · 23/05/2018 12:36

weird

StickThatInYourPipe · 23/05/2018 12:37

I love weeing in the shower Blush

crunchymint · 23/05/2018 12:38

I think this is disgusting. And of course it does not all wash away.
Never understood why MN who largely go on about wearing shoes indoors is disgusting, can be so blase about peeing in the shower.

Fairylea · 23/05/2018 12:38

When I was diagnosed with chronic urinary infections (for which I take daily antibiotics long term) the urologist told me to pee in the shower as the warm water helps your bladder to expand and empty more effectively. It does seem to work....! BlushGrin

If you regularly clean your shower I can’t see how it’s any more gross than weeing down the toilet to be honest. It gets washed away as you wash!

Katedotness1963 · 23/05/2018 12:39

I have never peed in the shower! I have also never peed in front of my children, going to the toilet is private.

LionAllMessy · 23/05/2018 12:39

And of course it does not all wash away.

Of course it does!

Argeles · 23/05/2018 12:40

I always wee just before getting into the shower, but as soon as I start showering, more wee just comes out almost like an involuntary response.

Lethaldrizzle · 23/05/2018 12:41

Speckledust - thanks for article. That's worse than I thought!

adaline · 23/05/2018 12:42

And of course it does not all wash away

Of course it does! Why on earth wouldn't it, unless your drains were blocked in some way?

Oddish · 23/05/2018 12:44

Can you explain how it sticks to the bath/shower crunchy ? Maybe if you have blocked drains it will sit there slowly being diluted but otherwise it will just wash away. I just don’t get it!

Juells · 23/05/2018 12:45

@yaffingale

I pee in the shower. I also pee in the corner of my horses stable when he / she isn't looking

And I bet you blame the poor horse Angry

yaffingale · 23/05/2018 12:48

Juells Horse doesn't mind, we pee together.

FrogPie · 23/05/2018 12:51

I do pee in the shower but only because once the water is on the urge comes very quick! Grin it’s all washed away anyway, no big deal. I couldn’t do it in the bath though, I find that grim (unless it really can’t be helped)
