I wouldn't curtsy to ant of them tbh. She is apparently allowed to insist on this now.

Why?

RoseWhiteTips · 23/05/2018 21:17

Idiot woman.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 23/05/2018 21:21

My favourite ever image from the press in recent years was the one where There May curtseyed to QEII and looked like a daddy long legs in a coat trying to perform the manoeuvre. It was brilliance.

I don't think I've got it in me to curtsey to anyone plus I'm such a ruffian I'd never get within 100 metres of anyone in the Royal Family. Except maybe that Andrew tosspot, he looks like he enjoys a scruffy gal.

tillytoodles1 · 23/05/2018 21:25

I wouldn't curtsey to anyone, it's outdated and subserviant. What makes them any better than me apart from birth or marrying well?

themorus · 23/05/2018 21:53

I didn't think it was a thing anymore, I met a royal, we were told we didn't have to curtsy if we didn't want to, I certainly didn't! My colleague did but shevery overawed and a lot older than me

Jamiefraserskilt · 23/05/2018 21:55

Head bob from me. Only through a respect for her position. She would have to earn the full monty after putting on a few years in the job first.
Funny though, I used to like Katherine Jenkins until she proved to be the only one who did not curtsy to the queen at a Royal Variety Show. Never forgave her for that. Queenie has earned her stripes and KJ should know the routine.

dawnmist · 23/05/2018 21:57

Certainly not, she's not my better. In fact i'm better than her.

dudsville · 23/05/2018 21:57

It's this a real concern for any of us?

SalsaLala · 23/05/2018 21:58

I’d curtsy to the Queen, not any of the others much as I like the royal family!

percheron67 · 23/05/2018 22:02

No. I wouldn't curtsey to Megan or Catherine. I certainly would to the Queen, the Duke of E and, probably Charles. I have tons of respect for the Queen and Duke of E. Charles, because he is the next monarch.

OutofSyncGirl · 23/05/2018 22:08

Why do you have tonnes of respect for Prince Phillip? He's a bigoted piece of work which he's not afraid for everyone to know Hmm

OutofSyncGirl · 23/05/2018 22:10

Katherine Jenkins sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Why should someone be bowed to just because they came out of a certain vagina?

Dixiebell · 23/05/2018 22:57

I met Prince Charles once at Clarence House for a private meeting with a government minister. I was all set to curtsey, but when I got there, I was too embarrassed to do it! It seemed like such a weird thing to do in front of a real person. I just shook his hand.

dawnmist · 23/05/2018 23:19

How demeaning to bow to another human being, as if they're your betters. I think it's repulsive.

BonnieF · 23/05/2018 23:26

No way would I ever curtsy to anyone.

The only circumstances in which I would bow to someone is if I were visiting an East Asian country where reciprocal bowing was part of their culture, which I would do my best to respect.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 23/05/2018 23:31

No, I don't curtsy for anyone. Most they'd all get from me is a proper yorkshire "y'all rite luv?" Grin

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 23/05/2018 23:36

Curtsy to no-one, shake the hand of everyone sounds good to me.

SaltireSaltire · 23/05/2018 23:45

Meghan is being promoted as the one to change the royal family ~ as a person promoting equality etc........great first step if she insisted she didn't want 'bowed to' by anyone.

OutofSyncGirl · 23/05/2018 23:48

Agreed SS

Grilledaubergines · 23/05/2018 23:58

If that was the protocol of the occasion I’d have no problem curtsying.

FannyFifer · 24/05/2018 06:51

I've met a few members of the royal family including the queen & I didn't curtesy to any of them, just shook hands like I would with anyone.

lostinsunshine · 24/05/2018 06:54

Only if you are a foreigner or Petunia Dursley would you think the royal family insist on being curtseyed too.

lostinsunshine · 24/05/2018 06:55

The queen apparently took the piss out of Mrs Thatcher for her elaborate curtseys.

wanderings · 24/05/2018 07:11

Is it true about having to go out of the room backwards in the Queen's presence?

lostinsunshine · 24/05/2018 07:12

As far as I know that maybe protocol but I think she's over it. Watch her at various events. It's 2018 not 1936.
