When the couple were making their vows - heads firmly in programmes

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/05/2018 18:37

No she did not curtsy when she walked past on her way out!

Ah, I see

I read somewhere that it was on this very day years ago that Anne Boleyn lost her head ... best, perhaps, to hope it doesn't give the Queen ideas Wink Grin

RoseWhiteTips · 19/05/2018 18:38

Olddear

Maybe Kate's miffed there's a new, glamorous kid on the block

Haha. Yes, that’ll be it. 🤣

Haffdonga · 19/05/2018 18:41

I agree that it was very strange that none of the senior Royals seemed to watch the vows and rings, instead they all looked at their hands or stared in different directions. We thought it might have been the camera angle but all the other guests seemed to be looking the right way,

Userplusnumbers · 19/05/2018 18:48

I don't blame them, weddings are tedious affairs and I can't think of a single one where I've gazed misty eyed and enraptured at the hap y couple the whole way through, nor do I know anyone else who has.

TawandaT · 19/05/2018 18:48

I don't think many could actually see them when they were exchanging vows. PC looked very hot and red and hence why he seemed to nod off.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/05/2018 18:49

The RF were squirming due to sheer awkwardness. They were sick at the thought of what had just taken place. They simply couldn’t look in case their expressions betrayed them.

Mrsmadevans · 19/05/2018 18:49

I thought it was the camera angle tbh .
Did anyone see the queen smile ? I thought she looked like she was cross for some reason. Phil the Greek looked very happy l thought. He was let out for the day Grin
Meghan looked beautiful , her dress was divine . Harry is obviously madly in love with her and I so wish them great happiness.
The Preacher was over the top. We are not amused.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/05/2018 18:51

Of COURSE guests gaze at the bride and groom. It is normal happy behaviour!!
Jeez. Utterly daft nonsense to think otherwise.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/05/2018 18:52

Normal wedddings are not “tedious affairs”. Some of your comments are priceless.

SirGawain · 19/05/2018 18:57

Saucer of milk anyone?

catherinedevalois · 19/05/2018 18:57

I wondered if the vows had changed and they were all checking the programme to see what was actually being said!

BMW6 · 19/05/2018 19:00

I have never "gazed at the bride and groom". I may glance, but gazing sounds like staring, with a drooly inane trembly smile "playing on your lips", then dabbing at your eyes with a lace hanky......
I am a lap stare-er. I am not ashamed. Smile

Userplusnumbers · 19/05/2018 19:01

@RoseWhiteTips - they are. Especially when they're crowded, you can't hear, you can't really see what's going on past all the hats and fascinators, the old, historical venues people choose are always too hot when the weather is like this due to lack of air con, then when you add in all the religious nonsense it takes four times longer than it needs to.

Dont get me wrong, it's incredibly special for the bride and groom, but pretending that sitting through ceremonies like that is laugh a minute for all the other guests is pure naivety.

WhatAMessTheBad · 19/05/2018 19:07

Agree with all those who have objected to the use of "disinterested".

MrsFinkelstein · 19/05/2018 19:10

Well I'm just watching the highlights on Sky, and they're showing part of the vows. Camera angle focusing on Charles, Camilla & Kate. All 3 of them looking at the bride & groom.
I don't know what ceremony some of you were all watching.

Rinoachicken · 19/05/2018 19:10

She did curtsy - it’s just that the second it happened the camera happened to switch to an overhead shot!

TheMeganMarkle · 19/05/2018 19:12

I just spent 20 mins viewing William and Kate’s wedding. Majority of guests on Kate’s side not looking much at the happy couple funnily enough. Is that because they were disinterested?

I see no difference in behaviour of the rf at either wedding. Charles for example laughed when Harry said “I will” for example. The guests in general spent the majority of their time following the order of service from what I could gather.

It isn’t for you to decide that others are indifferent just because they behave differently from you expect.

rosy71 · 19/05/2018 19:12

I don't even remember noticing what anyone was doing during the vows. Surely the camera can't have been on everyone else the whole time. I remember seeing Harry and Meghan.

Babybearsporij · 19/05/2018 19:12

I think the laughing at Rev Curry was absolutely disgusting. Especially Beatrice and Eugenie. Totally disrespectful.

dayinlifeof · 19/05/2018 19:13

Just seen the bit where the Queen is looking very miserable and fed up, the American preacher is doing his bit and the candles are wobbling all over the place - she's probably thinking he'd better not burn the place down.

MrsFinkelstein · 19/05/2018 19:14

Onto BBC now, Phillip & William also watching them say their vows.

Shock horror though, different camera angle - there's a man sitting on the the Bride's "side" and he's not looking at them, worse than that ....... he's yawning!!!!

dayinlifeof · 19/05/2018 19:16

I think the laughing at Rev Curry was absolutely disgusting. Especially Beatrice and Eugenie. Totally disrespectful.

yes, very. Zara Philips (I think) looked like she could hardly believe what she was hearing, Harry looked bored and Meghan had adopted a surprised face. Camilla looked like she was about to laugh and then looked disgusted. Beckham did laugh. None of them looked great did they/

cherrytrees123 · 19/05/2018 19:17

I noticed how many of the RF were not looking too - I thought it was very rude. To be honest, I think a lot of them looked totally exhausted. It's been an awful week for them all. Doria was watching intently, but Charles wasn't even looking when Harry made his vows. Perhaps it brings back bad memories for Charles, or perhaps they all have serious doubts about Meghan following this week's events.
Kate and Meghan are very different people with very different backgrounds. I noticed when M started her women's speech talk on the stage during the mental health awareness thing, Kate looked away and looked dismissive.

cherrytrees123 · 19/05/2018 19:18

I agree about the sniggering too.. absolutely appallingly rude. So much for manners among the toffs eh? The Queen looked very disapproving.

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/05/2018 19:21

rosewhitetips the deed is done now. If, in 5 years time it's an utter disaster you can come back triumphant in your correctness, smugly delighting in the misery of a break up of the marriage of two people you don't know.
