To think that RF looked disinterested?

When the couple were making their vows - heads firmly in programmes

OP posts:

Harry looked bored

DadDadDad · 19/05/2018 18:07

While many writers maintain the distinction between uninterested and disinterested that Playdoh and others outline, it’s common to use disinterested as a synonym for uninterested. It’s clear from the context what OP meant and before the pedants arrived that’s how others interpreted it.

So this pedantry just derails the thread (I’m aware of the irony of my own post)

StopWhisperingStopShouting · 19/05/2018 18:07

I bet Kate’s boobs were killing here! That’s a long tome to go between feeds/pumping for a newborn

Weebo · 19/05/2018 18:07

Anyone else sick of the 'KATE MUST BE SEETHING WITH JEALOUSY' posts?

It didn't take people long to start playing two women off against each other, did it?

StopWhisperingStopShouting · 19/05/2018 18:08

*her

LetsGoBitches · 19/05/2018 18:08

I also agree the queen looked that she would rather be somewhere else... and thought the whole thing was a bit of a shambles.
Not sure she likes Meghan. Also looked like she’d swallow a fly when Meghan didn’t curtsy when going past after the registry.

She suited up for Harry though.

LucheroTena · 19/05/2018 18:10

Everyone looks like that at weddings. They go to so many and have to have poker faces, or it gets picked apart.

DrCoconut · 19/05/2018 18:10

David Beckham looked the most bored.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/05/2018 18:14

Didn't MM curtsy to the Queen? A bit surprised if not, and while it's not compulsory I thought it was more or less expected within the family, especially at such an event

Great look on Andrew's face here, BTW ... I can't work out if he's looking at Camilla or his brother:

Sunnymeg · 19/05/2018 18:14

I thought that perhaps they kept their heads down so that the cameras wouldn't linger on them, but concentrate on Harry and Meghan.

I also think the Queen was worrying about her husband, rather than being miserable. It must have been very arduous day for him, and she probably wanted the ceremony over and done with and him safely home again.

Dottydoll · 19/05/2018 18:16

I thought the Queen could have raised a smile at some point . I agree - none of them looked remotely interested!

LetsGoBitches · 19/05/2018 18:17

Camilla’s shoulders were heaving with laughing at the American preacher’s passionate speech. In fact everyone was hiding under their hats smirking away. Beatrice wore a headband and you could clearly see her pulling faces.

Bad form really. Though I suppose predictable enough for English people to be embarrassed at emotion.

Operah and Doria looked totally at ease with this American style of preaching.

Maybe it’s a cultural thing... all the buttoned up repressed English RF sniggering and being embarrassed and the Americans just lovin’ it.

I thought it was a powerful and much needed sermon, if a little OTT for my buttoned up repressed psyche. I’ve been to sermons in the US so am used to the emotive style, but it does take getting used to.

LetsGoBitches · 19/05/2018 18:19

No she did not curtsy when she walked past on her way out! Naughty naughty!
Poor Queen looked like she’d bitten a lemon.

I totally agree. Granted he might not be quite what they're used to but I expected better than that Hmm

dayinlifeof · 19/05/2018 18:24

They should have looked like

butidontwannausemyhead · 19/05/2018 18:25

Religious ceremonies like that last far too long, been to a few myself and have been equally bored.

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/05/2018 18:26

I thought Charles was looking during the vows. You could see him quite clearly. The Queen could have vetod the marriage if she wanted to, although she hasnt really covered herself in glory with her approvals/disapprovals during her reign. She may also remember her own 70 year long marriage began with almost universal disapproval.

yorkshireyummymummy · 19/05/2018 18:28

Have you ever been to an actual church wedding OP.??
It’s not about grinning inanely at the bride/groom/vicar or dancing/clapping/cheering/bursting into song!
It’s a solemn dignified occasion and MOST people at weddings try to look appropriate.
What did you expect them to do???
Oh and is there ANY chance of not nit picking on EVERY SINGLE FUCKING THING THEY DO OR DONT DO.?

halfwitpicker · 19/05/2018 18:30

I'd say Kate is breathing a sigh of relief at the arrival of our Meg - she can finally get back to the WI and shopping in Waitrose for yellow stickers without the paps on her heels

halfwitpicker · 19/05/2018 18:30

Did Charles actually sleep?

TawandaT · 19/05/2018 18:32

The American minister clearly went a bit off piste there and if was funny in a cultural context. I couldn't have sat there with a straight face. It was fairly unexpected. I'm not sure any royal wedding has ever seen a sermon given with such vigor and who knew we had fire to thank for email?

SweetheartNeckline · 19/05/2018 18:34

I think they were fine. A bit of smirking going on at times but perhaps the Queen had trumped.

Or it was a case of "Jesus, did you HEAR what Philip just said?"

The Most Rev Michael was great and passionate but he did bang on a bit.

A church wedding is a solemn occasion, as a married for a long time woman I reflect on my own vows which is common I think. Also bet the hats are heavy.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/05/2018 18:36

Body language speaks volumes.

Almostfifty · 19/05/2018 18:37

I think she curtsied and the cameras missed it. Harry was just starting to bow and they cut the cameras away.
