When the couple were making their vows - heads firmly in programmes

The preacher was out of order. This was supposed to be a joint UK/ US wedding and he overran his time and his contribution. Just imagine if a white C of E vicar or archbishop did the same at a wedding in the Deep South. Most rude, grandstanding, hogging the floor. It was truly embarrassing as everyone's faces showed.

biscuitraider · 19/05/2018 20:21

I think it's because the royal family are racist. They were very disrespectful but it doesn't surprise me, just showing their true colours.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/05/2018 20:22

Exactly what do you think would happen if they did?

CallaLilli · 19/05/2018 20:25

I've been to church weddings on the Deep South - they were, without exception, warm and welcoming, and certainly no one would've smirked and side-eyed like the way the royals did today, because manners are important to them. On one occasion there was a guest preacher and although he used a different style, everyone remained respectful.

CocoaGin · 19/05/2018 20:28

The Preacher was horrific, and I can't believe someone didn't intervene. Men like that are why I hate religion. Full of pomposity and hot air.

However, Harry looked very overwhelmed with emotion, and very in love. She was poised, elegant, and completely at home with the whole thing. She didn't put a foot wrong, and looked exquisite even though I thought the dress was very plain. The veil was the star of the show.

Kate looked miserable and stressed. Zara looked horribly uncomfortable and must have been boiling in that heavy coat/dress she had on. The Queen and Prince Phillip looked disinterested, let alone Prince Andrew. I thought Charles and Camilla were the only ones showing some level of interest, and Charles was very attentive to Meghan's Mum. The highlight of my day was seeing Tom Hardy in a suit. Sigh.

RoseWhiteTips
Bitter jealous and racist!
They're married get over it and try and be positive to the children when you go to school on Monday.
Oh sorry you've not decided if you're a teacher or TA or just bitter jealous troll.
I'm sure the stunning beautiful Ms Markle doesn't given a shit about you and your "butter curls"

shins · 19/05/2018 20:42

Agree the preacher was awful and disrespectful. It wasn't a question of different style, he could've been true to his church traditions but also in keeping with the occasion. He was at the wedding of the grandson of the head of the C of E and in front of tens of millions of viewers, it was downright rude to go off on that garbled overlong tangent that had nothing to do with the bride and groom, it was so impersonal. I was cackling in disbelief in front of the telly, the RF did pretty well with the odd smothered grin!

Mrsmadevans · 19/05/2018 20:43

I don't think the RF are racist. After all Harry & Wills have been bought up by the RF and seem perfectly fine with ppl of all colour and race. Also don't forget the RF have been linked to the Commonwealth for years and years.

GoodAfternoonSeattle · 19/05/2018 20:44

Today changed my opinion of Charles.

He went over and took Doria to the signing. She was alone and I thought, whilst she looked fab and poised and beautiful, she could have done with a pal.

I think he’s a good bloke really.

QueenofmyPrinces · 19/05/2018 20:45

I didn’t see the wedding today but after reading all these comments I’m going to go and track it down to watch it Grin

Mrsmadevans · 19/05/2018 20:45

Yes I totally agree with you Seattle he put her at ease bless her

Notmorewashing · 19/05/2018 20:46

I doubt kate is up doing night feeds! Probably has about 5 nannies 24/7

Mrsmadevans · 19/05/2018 20:50

They reckon she is BF so no amounts of nannies can do her job , unless they are wet nurses Grin

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/05/2018 20:53

I didn't get to watch the whole properly do I just watched the highlights. The preacher was fine I thought. Yes he went on a bit but he preached with passion and conviction. The Queen is the Head of the Anglican church in this country. The C of E is dying on its arse and being replaced by evangelical churches like these. The side eyes and sniggering was disrespectful and rude.

nocoolnamesleft · 19/05/2018 21:14

I think that a lot of the congregation will have been struggling so much with the American sermon because he was going on, and on, and on about fire. Whilst in Windsor castle, ffs. Insensitive, or what!

roseblossom75 · 19/05/2018 21:23

Some people do get the giggles at inappropriate times.
It's usually nerves.
It happened to me at my son's christening.
I wasn't meaning to be rude. I was just nervous about it all.
I feel sorry for them that every little facial expression is scrutinised and judged.

LucilleBluth · 19/05/2018 21:25

Umm, didn't Harry and Megs side eye Liam Payne a few weeks ago?

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/05/2018 21:53

The Preacher was horrific, and I can't believe someone didn't intervene. Men like that are why I hate religion. Full of pomposity and hot air.

Actually he isn't, he's spoken out on a number of important issuess*.

savagebaggagemaster · 19/05/2018 22:01

Check your dictionary. Disinterested = uninterested.

ICantCopeAnymore · 19/05/2018 22:02

Er, savage? You're wrong.

MonumentVal · 19/05/2018 22:11

We turned it on just in time for the sermon and all thought, despite being atheists, that he was great - talked about love and supporting each other and obviously had to include god, but to include MLK quotes and some jokes was excellent. The fire analogy was a bit weak but come on, he performed it well. And the audience were grinning because there were jokes and he was being funny, with a bit of ouch, mentioning fire in Windsor Castle...

Thought the setting of Stand By Me was a bit insipid and detest Rutter, but the vows were done well and Charles seemed almost to have a tear in his eye. I liked the AoC's threat 'let no one rend asunder', sounded as if he were speaking to all the world's media and gossip-mongers.

DadDadDad · 19/05/2018 22:18

Actually, ICantCope, OED says you are wrong. While there is an established meaning of disinterested which is not the same as uninterested, disinterested = uninterested is also recognised, as much as us pedants would like to keep the nice distinction.

See def 2: en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/disinterested

Interestingly, in their commentary they say: Ironically, the earliest recorded sense of disinterested is for the disputed sense. (ie the sense you are saying is wrong).

DadDadDad · 19/05/2018 22:19

Probably should have said we pedants. I'll hand in my badge. Grin

ICantCopeAnymore · 19/05/2018 22:20

Oh yes, I know. They've included it, because the misuse is so common now, but thankfully that's explained.

I think it sounds a bit uneducated if someone uses the incorrect version.

ICantCopeAnymore · 19/05/2018 22:20
